Up for auction is a 91 YJ Wrangler 4WD. 2.5 4cyl/5 spd. 106,xxx miles. This is a very clean and unmodified base model. To my knowledge, never lifted or wrecked. 99% rust free. The only rust is a couple of quarter size spots on the front of the windshield frame. 2 or 3 small dents on the hood. Clear coat is peeling on right fron fender. Otherwise, body is pristine for a 22 yr old rig. Incredibly difficult to find in this condition, most of these have been lifetd, rolled, rusted out, or made into crawlers. All mechanical systems are in good working order; brakes, heater, electrical, transmission, transfer case. Everything works. Tires are at 80%+. Includes tan bikini top and lt grey soft top with hardware. Tops are older and functional but do have some flaws. (tears, stains, missing parts)
Downside: Needs a new motor. Recently lost all compression #3 cylinder. Engine will not turn over. To diagnose further, you have to pull the motor, and if you pull it, is most cost effective to rebuild or replace. Used motors online run about $1200, local rebuilders (Ft. Worth) charge approx $900. Jeep no longer manufactures the 2.5 as a crate motor.
Has some new parts: cap, rotor, plugs, wires; alternator, serpentine belt, all new exhaust from manifold back.
No a/c
No radio
Just installed new 5 component instrument cluster, works, but needs to be wired in.
Jeep is for sale locally, will end auction if sold. All shipping costs belong to the buyer, I will help comply with any shipping arrangements as best I can. I am moving at the end of this month and cannot take the jeep with me.
On Aug-05-13 at 18:55:28 PDT, seller added the following information:
I have just been made aware that the odometer history shows some problems early in this jeeps history. I have no way to either confirm or deny these issues. I have current and clean texas title in hand with no leins or problems of any kind.
I make no claims as to the accuracy of the odometer, it could have been replaced at some time before I purchased the vehicle. This vehicle is sold as is, regardless of what the history report says. If this is a serious problem for you, please do not bid.

Certain Chrysler owners eligible for buyback program
Mon, Jul 27 2015Certain car owners whose Chrysler vehicles contain dangerous defects will soon have a way to get rid of their lemons without losing money. As part of an agreement with federal regulators, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has agreed to buy back more than 500,000 vehicles susceptible to veering out of control without warning at above market-value prices. The deal mainly covers certain models of RAM trucks, the Dodge Dakota pickup and Dodge Durango SUV. Further, owners of more than 1.5 million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokees at heightened risk for lethal fires are eligible to trade in their vehicles at above market value or, alternately, get a gift certificate if they prefer to have repairs made. Chrysler has "a heavy responsibility to make sure the products they make are safe for the traveling public," said Mark Rosekind, administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. "... Here, we are sending an unambiguous signal to industry that if you skirt the laws or violate the law, or don't live up to the responsibility that consumers expect, we are going to penalize you." The buy-back and trade-in options for motorists come as part of an unprecedented penalty NHTSA slapped against Chrysler for violating federal motor-vehicle safety laws. Chrysler will pay a $105 million fine, the highest ever levied by the regulatory agency. In addition to the buy-backs, Chrysler also agreed to an independent monitor for three years. Investigators had outlined problems in the company's conduct in 23 recalls that affected more than 11 million defect vehicles. As part of a consent-order agreement, Chrysler acknowledged it did not notify vehicle owners of recalls in an effective manner and did not notify NHTSA of safety problems. Though those recalls affected millions of drivers, the buy-back and trade-in options are only for a small portion of the vehicles involved. Because Chrysler struggled to fix the problem and no repair was apparent, Rosekind said the buy-backs are reserved "for customers who didn't have a remedy." Buy-backs are for trucks and SUVs affected by three recalls that occurred in 2013 (recalls 13V-038, 13V-527 and 13V-529), that addressed a rear-axle pinion nut that could come loose and cause a loss of vehicle control. Those recalls covered 579,228 vehicles, including 2009-2012 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks, 2009-2012 Dodge Dakotas, 2009 Chrysler Aspen and the 2009 Dodge Durango.

Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X finally on the way to dealers
Mon, Jun 1 2015After a brief pause, the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X are on their way to dealers again. While initially reported as a software bug, the issue had nothing to do with the models themselves. According to a statement from FCA US to Autoblog, the "vehicles were built with an atypical Vehicle Identification Number that may not be recognized as valid by some computer systems." That problem has now been fixed. FCA US held the compact crossovers back from dealers until the company could rectify the bug. If the CUVs had been delivered, there would have been difficulty registering the vehicles, according to Automotive News. Before discovering the situation, about 20 of these Renegades were sold to customers. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne originally discussed the predicament in late May. "I'm having a very bad engineering day," he said. "It's a combination of attributes of that vehicle that is making my life horrible." While the boss predicted the problem would be fixed as late as mid-June, the company apparently got things working much quicker than that. Related Video: FCA US Statement A limited number of 2015 Jeep Renegade and 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles were built with an atypical Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that may not be recognized as valid by some computer systems. This VIN issue has been resolved. FCA US has been working with governmental agencies, insurers and financial institutions with whom customers may interact to ensure successful registration, financing and insurance coverage. Renegade and 500X vehicles are being shipped and are in stock at dealerships for purchase. The VIN issue is entirely separate from the operation of the vehicle.
