Up for sale is my 89 YJ Wrangler. It has a 5.3 from a 2001 Silverado. The motor has a little over 100k on it and it was from a friends truck who owned it since almost new. The motor runs great and fires up every time with out issue. The wiring harness was striped down and all the excess wires removed. The ECM was sent out and reprogrammed to the tire size and to do away with the unneeded controls i.e. the egr, rear O2, ect. The ecm is mounted under the dash inside the cab and it does have an OBD2 port to connect to it. The trans came from the same truck and was fully rebuilt including the torque converter and pump. The trans has around 2k on it. The transfer case is a hybrid NP-235 (front half from a S10 and rear half from a wrangler). The case has a SYE from rough country and custom drive shafts made at Frey the wheel man in Syracuse. The rear end is a ford 8.8 from an explorer with 4.10 gears and limited slip diff. The spring perches were cut and welded to set the correct pinion angle. Rear end also has disk brakes. The front axle had the shafts from a 95 with the bigger u-joints. Front axle also has a posi lock set up to do away with the vacuum system. The front axle has had new ball joints, axle joints, bearings, tie rods, ect with in the last year. I set the toe on it but it could use a good alignment. The lift is a combo of 2.5" springs and 2" shackles. The radiator is a aftermarket aluminum built for the 5.3 motor. It has a center console from an S10 blazer to allow for the shiftier for the 4l60e. The speedometer, volt, fuel, and oil gauge in the dash work and the coolant temp is aftermarket. The tach has a wire run for it but would need an aftermarket tach to work off the ecm. The Jeep was a manual and I never removed the clutch pedal or clutch cylinder in case I ever wanted to go with a manual trans. It has true dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers. It sounds good with out being to loud to drive on a trail all day. It comes with a soft top and half doors with soft uppers. Also has a TJ grille in it.
I tried to list all the things I have done to it over the years but im sure i forgot a few. The Jeep is not a show jeep but is a great trail rig. Its got some bumps and bruises, scratches, dings, a little rust, hell there is still mud stuffed up under the wheel wells but.... Its one hell of a fun Jeep! It will run down the road great and is great on the trails and will get 20 mpg doing it (if you keep your foot off the floor but its hard to do) The only reason Im selling it is I have a few projects I would like to get done and selling this will help Feel free to ask any questions you may have, if you want pics of something i missed just message me and I can text or email them to you. If you would like to have it shipped I can help load and meet with your shipper Bidders with 0 feedback must contact me before bidding. Thanks |

eBay Find of the Day: Jeep Comanche Zombie Response Unit
Sat, 02 Feb 2013We've seen some pretty fantastic apocalypse vehicles in our day. We've even owned one or two, but this particular Jeep Comanche tugs at our heart strings in all the right ways. Let's start with the basics: there's a stout 4.0-liter engine underhood hooked to a five-speed manual transmission, and while we wish this truck was four-wheel drive, the two-inch lift and oversize tires should help you overcome obstacles with enough momentum.
Details like handy shovels, Jerry cans and a brush guard inspired by the hardware on a CUCV help lend the truck a no-nonsense appeal, and the functional CB whip antenna means you can ask for backup when the undead hordes come your way. If you like what you see as much as we do, you can head over to eBay Motors to place a bid. The auction has inched up to $4,000 with just two days left on the clock.
2014 Jeep Cherokee: June 2014
Wed, 09 Jul 2014I got a text message from Editor-In-Chief Sharon Carty one afternoon proclaiming that her new favorite SUV is our long-term 2014 Jeep Cherokee. And she's not alone. I'm not sure if anyone else on staff would go so far as to use the "favorite" descriptor, but after just over a month of honeymooning with our new long-termer, it's safe to say that the Jeep is quickly finding its way into the good graces of a number of Autoblog staffers.
There's good reason for all that praise, too. Thus far, the Jeep has proven itself to be incredibly competent and comfortable for daily life - it's functional, quiet, and packed with a host of amenities that make it easy to live with. It's been wholly trouble-free (with less than 4,000 miles on the clock as of this writing, it ought to be), but even nitpicks have been few and far between.
2014 Easter Jeep Safari kicks off with six concepts
Thu, 10 Apr 2014The 2014 Easter Jeep Safari is set to begin this weekend in Moab, Utah, and while it's sure to be a blast for Jeep enthusiasts from all corners of the world, we're looking forward to the wild, off-road ready concepts that Jeep will be bringing to the red rocks. As you can see in our handy headline, there are six such vehicles in total, each of which sports a variety of tweaks and custom bits.
Unlike in years past, where Jeep graced us with some outrageous concepts like the Mighty FC or J-12, this year's vehicles are a bit more restrained and a bit more buildable by enthusiasts. That's not by accident, officials tell us. They wanted to put this year's focus on attainable vehicles and accessories from Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts that existing owners can use to augment their own vehicles. So let's get to it.
We'll start with the Wranglers first. There are three concepts of the jeepiest of Jeep coming to Moab - the Level Red, Maximum Performance and Mojo. The Level Red and the Mojo (seen above) are similar from a suspension and engine standpoint. Both boast a two-inch Jeep Performance Parts lift kit, which officials tell us is coming to market in the next few months. There are a pair of Dana 44 crate axles on both the front and rear, while a Jeep Performance Parts Rock-Trac transfer case has been fitted. The 3.6-liter V6 engines on both Jeeps can breathe a bit easier thanks to a new cold-air intake and exhaust system.
