For Sale: Two (2) Jeep grand wagoneers; one I already owned is a 1987 stock height with some minor transmission problems (slipping when it gets hot) and wanted to fix it up to drive in bad weather and to make a response vehicle for fire calls out of it; but after buying only a few parts to it I realized with all it needed I would be better off to get a parts vehicle and so I bought the 1988 raised one for parts. After getting it home and looking it over the 1988 one was in better shape so I decided just to use the parts from the 87' to fix the 88'. Unfortunately for me my wife will not drive my car (says it's too low to the ground) and took over my jeep. She also hates that it is raised and about fell out of it her 1st time driving it and with us having a 1 year old I was informed it would be "appreciated" if I would just sell it so here I am. Neither one of them are perfect but here is a rundown of what I have:

Both: CLEAR TITLES IN HAND, Have Reese hitches and hookups for trailer lights, Dash tops in good condition, 360 v8 engines with automatic transmissions (87' has issues but still goes and pulls good), 4x4 with high and low range that works great, Headlights are good, Working stereo head units, Working power seats, Drive shafts, u joints and differentials are in good shape and All four differentials are DANA 44's.

The 1987 (parts vehicle) Has a tan interior in decent shape, Has stock autolite 2 BBL corroborator and intake, Has all seats and carpet (some worse for wear), Headliner board no headliner though, New fuel pump, New lifetime warranty starter with receipt (advance auto), New spark plugs, gas gauge and heat gauge work when they want to, Power locks work, Has all window glass except left rear door glass (was swapped to the 88'), Window motors work but two were swapped to the 88' the old ones are in the back of the 87'), Tailgate glass works with switch and key, marker lights and right rear light housing swapped to the 88', Has working a/c but need to be charged, Does not have emissions stuff on it except the converter, chrome tape on the top of the grill is damaged in a small spot, clear coat is peeling, Can run and drive but needs a battery, needs a new water pump (pumps but not enough for a trip over 30 minutes), has decent 235/75-15 tires with 40% tread left on them, has spare with tire and holder, The frame has surface rust, the left side floor pan is rusting out, alternator moved to the 88', and is stock height.

The 1988 (lifted vehicle) Has a rebuilt engine (I didn't do it the guy I bought it from did it), Has an Edelbrock 1405 600 CFM 4 BBL carburetor, Edelbrock intake, new alternator, MSD coil with high temp plug wires, Currently running and driving, Has a frame lift (of what I was told is) 5 inches, Has a transmission intercooler, Has 31x10.50-15's with 35-40% tread but does have some dry rot but I will throw in the two used tires I have, Has all the light housings and lenses but not all the bulbs (what is missing is on the 87'), Has all the window glass (some need help going down but all will go up by button), tailgate glass will not go down by switch or key (someone unplugged and rerouted the wires) have to use battery and connect to wires someone ran to cargo area, a/c does not work and does not have hoses, Has wood grain vinyl removed (some studs pulled out some left none were ground off unfortunately), Has a sunroof that instead of fixing it someone calked it and pulled the switch out but the glass is good, the paint need to be re-done, the headliner and board are gone, Does not have emissions stuff on it even the converter is gone but I took off the smog pump and is still with it, Has all 4 speakers - the front are durabrand and back are pioneer and power mirrors work.

I can sit here and tell you this is all but you know as well as I do something will always be left out but I can tell you I have went through both vehicles and what is broken or missing on one can be fixed or repaired to working order with parts from the other (except the sunroof) but please feel free to email me with any questions big or small and please realize what you are bidding on. Neither one of these vehicles are by any means finished (unless you want a mud bogger, stump jumper or hunting vehicle) but with some TLC this could become a great project that will end in a vehicle that will last for years; to help the project a slightly used Haynes manual will be thrown in free of charge. If you wanted to the 87' might be able be hauled by the 88' if not going too far.

These are being sold together and as-is with no warranties or guarantees being implied or written. What you see is what you get. There is a $500.00 (five-hundred dollar) non-refundable deposit required that will be credited to final purchase price upon pick-up and must be paid within 24 hours of auction ending via Paypal ONLY. The remaining balance to be paid in cash on the day of pick up. Unless other arrangements have been made items must be picked up with in 14 consecutive days or item will be relisted and deposit used to cover relisting fees along with time and aggravation charges. No payment plans, personal checks or credit cards. All cashier or travelers checks must clear into my account for ten (10) business days prior to titles being signed and property being pick up. Thank you for looking.

NHTSA investigating 630k Jeep Wranglers for possible airbag fault

Wed, Jun 24 2015

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation into a possible wiring problem on some 2007-2012 Jeep Wrangler models that could affect airbag deployment. The government agency has 221 complaints alleging that the airbag warning light is illuminating, and that could indicate that the safety devices might not deploy in a crash. If a recall is necessary, an estimated 630,000 vehicles could be affected. According to the documents from NHTSA (as a PDF here), a "faulty clockspring assembly in the driver side airbag electrical circuit" could be the culprit. Also, some of the affected Wranglers are showing a fault code that indicates the safety device wouldn't deploy in an accident. However at this time, there are no reports of injuries related to this potential problem. NHTSA's preliminary evaluations are simply meant to investigate and don't necessarily lead to a recall. This isn't the first time for a potential problem like this on the Wrangler, though. A clockspring issue already led to a safety campaign for 2008-2012 right-hand drive Wranglers and an extended warranty for 2007 left-hand drive examples. Several complaints cite the following diagnostic trouble code (DTC): Code B1B02 Open Squib to driver's air bag. This DTC would indicate a no-fire condition (disablement) for the driver air bag. ODI investigated the RHD (right hand drive) Wrangler for a clockspring issue under PE11-019 which led to NHTSA Recall 11V258 on model year (MY) 2008-2012 RHD Wranglers as well as an extended warranty campaign on MY 2007 LHD Wrangler vehicles. This investigation covers the MY07-12 LHD (left hand drive) Wranglers.

FCA spends $1.5 billion to retool plant for Ram production

Tue, Jul 26 2016

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is planning to invest $1.48 billion to retool its Sterling Heights Assembly plant in metro Detroit to build the next generation of the Ram 1500. The investment will allow the assembly plant to go from unibody to body-on-frame construction. FCA also confirmed that production of the Chrysler 200 will end in December in order for the plant to be altered. As previously reported, FCA is looking to move production of the 1500 from its current assembly plant in Warren to the Sterling Heights Assembly plant (both are in Michigan). While FCA has not released any official plans for the Warren Truck Assembly Plant, Automotive News reports that the plant will be retooled to manufacture the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. Earlier this month, FCA announced plans to invest $1.05 billion to retool the Jeep Wrangler factory. FCA's current investment plans are part of the automaker's push to put competitive products on the road. Fires, deaths continue after Jeep fuel tank recall

Wed, Feb 11 2015

As Kayla White slowed her SUV behind two other cars to exit a suburban Detroit freeway on Veterans Day, it was rammed from behind by a Cadillac STS. Her red 2003 Jeep Liberty bounced off a Nissan in front of it, rolled onto its side and exploded in flames. Other drivers ran to help but were forced back by the heat. Firefighters arrived in just three minutes but were too late. White, a 23-year-old restaurant hostess who was eight months pregnant, died of burns and smoke inhalation. White is one of more than 70 people killed in fires involving older Jeeps with plastic fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle. Fiat Chrysler, which makes Jeeps, recalled 1.56 million of them in June 2013 under pressure from US safety regulators. But only 12 percent of the SUVs have been repaired in the 18 months since the recall, a much slower pace than usual. And White's Jeep was not among those fixed. Last week, prosecutors charged the Cadillac driver with committing a moving violation that caused a death. But safety advocates and the lawyer for White's family say the blame belongs as much, if not more, on Chrysler and an auto-industry safety system that moves too slowly to prevent tragedy. The rear-mounted tanks have little structure to protect them if struck from behind, making them susceptible to punctures and fires. Moving the gas tank in front of the axle would be expensive and difficult. So Chrysler's remedy involved installing trailer hitches on the rear of the Jeeps as an extra layer of protection. Government testing showed the hitches protected the tanks in crashes up to 40 mph when stationary Jeeps were hit from behind. But at higher speeds, they wouldn't help. White tried to get the repair done a few weeks before her death but was told by a Jeep dealer that parts weren't available, according to Gerald Thurswell, her family's lawyer. He wouldn't identify the dealership, and his contention could not be independently verified by The Associated Press. Thurswell contends the gas tank ruptured, spilling fuel that touched off the fire. A Chrysler spokesman expressed sympathy to White's family but said the company had no written proof that she asked a dealer about the recall. Two crash reconstruction experts interviewed by the AP say gas wouldn't have spilled from White's Jeep if the tank had been mounted in front of the rear axle. Both say a hitch might have prevented the tank from being damaged, but because both vehicles were in motion, neither expert could say for sure.
