Jeep CEO promises Grand Cherokee Hellcat 'before the end of 2017' [UPDATE]

UPDATE: Video of Mike Manley confirming the Grand Cherokee SRT Hellcat has been added. In one of the worst kept secrets in the auto industry, Jeep has confirmed that the Grand Cherokee SRT Hellcat is coming. The news comes from Vvuzz, which has Jeep CEO Mike Manley on camera confirming the monstrous SUV. Manley confirmed that the Jeep, which we hope will offer the same 707-horsepower version of Chrysler's 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 as the Dodge Challenger and Charger, will arrive before the end of 2017. This, friends, is grand news. By the time the Grand Cherokee Hellcat arrives, it'll be faced with an array of high-performance challengers from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, and Porsche. But, if things stay the way they are with the competition and SRT engineers can bring the Hellcat engine's full output to bear on an all-wheel-drive platform, the Grand Cherokee will have a power advantage ranging from 130 to 157 hp. It's one thing to best the competition by a dozen horsepower, it's entirely different to outgun them by an entire Toyota Corolla. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalls nearly 750k vehicles in two campaigns

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling a total of 747,817 vehicles in the US in two separate campaigns recently added to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration database.
The first one covers about 434,581 units of the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Challenger, Durango, and Jeep Grand Cherokee from the 2011-2014 model years with electric hydraulic power steering, the 3.6-liter V6 engine and a 160 amp alternator, according to FCA. In the affected vehicles, it's possible for the alternator to fail without warning and possibly cause the car to stall. According to the documentation submitted to NHTSA, the automaker began investigating the problem in August 2014 and has found possible evidence of one crash caused by the failures but no known injuries.
Customers will begin receiving notification about the recall next month, and obviously the repairs will be done at no cost to them.

Freak accident during Jeep demonstration turns fatal

A 20-year-old woman was killed in Edmonton, Canada on Satuday, reports CTV News, in a freak accident resulting from a rollover during a Jeep demonstration. As part of a fundraising enthusiast event called "Jeeps Go Topless," the driver of one Jeep Wrangler drove up and onto the top of the tire of another.
CTV reports that the owner of the topmost Jeep then switched the vehicle off, posed for pictures and then dismounted from his vehicle. His movement off of the Jeep apparently caused it to tip over, crushing a woman who was on top of an adjacent vehicle. Edmonton police are currently investigating more fully what caused the parking lot accident to occur. Scroll below to watch the CTV News video report about this tragic incident.
