Thanks for taking a look at my beautiful baltic blue 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

As you can see, this Jeep is a real head-turner. I bought it two years ago restored and now it is someone else's chance to enjoy. I love it, but it is not practical for my 4 small kids. I'll get another one when I'm retired.

Condition: Appearance: You will find no rust and a nearly perfect interior.  Exterior color is the original baltic blue (new paint). Interior is the original light sand. I think this is the classic and best-looking color combination. The Wagoneer is in really in beautiful shape and the person that did the restoration for me did a great job. New paint, new header, new fabric on the seats...he really went to town with even the smallest details like changing out screws for stainless steel, etc. The pictures say it all.

Condition: Mechanical: The Jeep was also given a multi-point (100s of points) inspection before I received it and all issues were fixed or replaced at that time. Since then, I have also replaced the brakes and the carburetor and had multiple leaks fixed.

The Jeep just passed emissions here in AZ. The carb had to be adjusted to pass and is now running a little lean.

Have you owned an older vehicle before? If so, you understand that owning a 23+ year-old vehicle is not the same as owning new. We have used this as a daily driver, but there is usually something that can be done to fix a small leak or replace a part here and there. Of course you can buy a Grand Wagoneer that is as good as new, and if you want to do that, I suggest you go to Wagonmaster.com and lay down the 40K+.

For those that want a beautiful vehicle for less than that and can stand fixing a leak here and there or know a reliable mechanic, this Jeep may be worth looking at.

Current issues: As I said above, there can always be something to work on in an older car like this, even when it had a restoration. As noted above, the carb has been worked on (and is new as of 2 years ago). Currently, it is best for us to warm the Jeep up before driving or the carb will slow the idle down really low if you step on the gas right out of the gate. This is an issue we don't have much of a problem with (not enough to mess with it at least), but I'm told by my mechanic that he could play with it for awhile and get it running better by tweaking the carb. I wasn't planning to spend the money on it.

I've fixed most every drip, but I won't guarantee that there aren't any leaks.

The rear power locks do not go up and down right now (they do manually). I can see them moving when the power locks are pressed, so they do have power, but maybe they just need some lubrication.

Hopefully you can see that I'm an honest seller. This is a really great Jeep--I just want to be clear about what you get in case you think you're buying a new car.

Please send me any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer them.

Chrysler adding 200 jobs at Ohio Jeep Wrangler plant

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

Chrysler is betting that the Jeep Wrangler will continue its strong sales surge as it continues to push the legendary brand out across the globe. The Auburn Hills automaker is reportedly adding 200 workers at the Toledo, Ohio plant that builds the Wrangler. What's more, those new hires will be at their posts quickly - they'll be on the job by April 1. Of those 200 workers, 130 employees will be there to relieve those who need breaks.
Why do they need so many relief workers? The Toledo Jeep Complex is currently working at a torrid pace with two ten-hour shifts. A third shift has been ruled out for the moment because of a production botttleneck - the plant's paint shop is already maxed out. According to Reuters, Wrangler production in 2012 cleared 200,000 units, and US sales were up by 16 percent.
Another part of the Toledo plant is presently down as Chrysler retools the line to build Jeep's divisively styled Liberty replacement, the Cherokee (seen in our gallery below). Production for the new model is scheduled to begin toward the end of May.

Jeep launches new ad with unreleased Michael Jackson track

Fri, 09 May 2014

We've recently heard much about how Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne plans to pump up the volume on Jeep sales, inaugurating new models and global dealerships. But that's the stuff outlined in five-year plans; right now, advertising and special editions are at the fore, and the late Michael Jackson, too. Jeep has begun airing two commercials to push its Altitude Editions, Call of Summer and Lovers of the Game, that feature the song "Love Never Felt So Good" from Jackson's upcoming album of new music.
A little more star power - and timely, too - comes from Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving. While Call of Summer features a few short shots of the former Rookie of the Year and two-time NBA All-Star, Lovers of the Game is all about his white Wrangler Altitude Edition and wrangling shots. You can watch both spots below, and if you want to hear the rest of the music track before the album hits, you can download it from iTunes.

NHTSA still mulling crash tests for recalled Jeeps

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Well, no one should ever accuse the government of not giving things plenty of thought. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is still debating whether it will retest any of the 1.56 million 1992 to 1998 Grand Cherokees and 2002 to 2007 Libertys that were part of a recall regarding fires after rear-end collisions. And yes, this debate has been going on for over a month. In other news...
The recall dustup started in early June, when Chrysler took the unusual position of refusing a recall request from NHTSA regarding placement of the fuel tank on the effected vehicles. NHTSA said a collision could cause a fire, a position Chrysler took issue with. Extensive negotiations ensued, with Chrysler agreeing to fit certain Jeeps with trailer hitches, which it said would provide some protection to fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle in the event of a collision.
Part of the issue rests with the amount of data that needs to be processed, according to The Detroit News. NHTSA administrator David Strickland said during a Washington Auto Press Association meeting, "There's a lot of data and Chrysler is being very cooperative in giving us more data." Until that information has been sorted, it looks like re-testing will still be up for debate.
