1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Restore In '00-eff. Mls. 55k! Repaint In '05 Can Del.! on 2040-cars
Sammamish, Washington, United States
HISTORY: I wanted this '89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer in the rare old classic style when I first saw it in 2000. It's unusual in that it has the woodgrain paneling delete option. I was living in Seattle at the time and had fallen in love with these vehicles since I regularly drive in winter over the mountain passes and across country often pulling a trailer. My renter, a certified Swedish machinist with good mechanical skills, was restoring my collection of Jeep GW's. This came to us for full restoration at 135,000 miles by the grandson of the original owner when he saw the work being done on my other GW's. After a full restoration, and 5 years, the grandson sold it back to me. Simply put, I have to start getting rid of my car collection since I'm not Jay Leno and must concentrate on restoration of my absolute "keepers" ('47 Cadillac convertible, '69 Cuda 340 "S", etc). Please see my other eBay listings.
CONDITION: Everything that usually goes wrong with age was rebuilt during the restoration, including doors, tailgate, stereo system, transmission, brakes, motor, etc. Door hinges are tight, tailgate works like it should , Carpet and seat are in excellent condition. Brakes, tranny, engine, transfer case work well. No drivetrain leaks have been observed. The effective "age" of this GW is 50K miles. I redid the brakes with DOT 5 fluid, double roller timing chain was used on engine, carb rebuilt, etc. When I took it over in 2005, I repainted it in the original dark metallic anthracite gray for $3500. I also I've driven it about 6,000 miles and it has been stored inside since then. Deficiencies: I'm driving the Jeep back to Alabama in one week. There I have trusted mechanics and craftsmen. I will repair all known deficiencies which at this time include replacement of the headliner, opening the clogged sunroof drains, updating the A/C with R134A and doing a more professional installation of the electronic brake control unit. There is a streak in the windshield where the wiper arm scrubbed. All other problems, if any found, will be noted and discussed with inquiring buyers. The tires should probably be replaced simply because of age. DELIVERY: I can drive the Jeep anywhere for delivery including Canada. I've sold to Europe before. Please allow adequate time for the repairs noted above to be made by craftsmen/mechanics in Alabama. PAYMENT: A deposit of $3,500 USD is due within 5 days of auction end unless other arrangement is made. Balance is due at time of delivery/pick up. Please call me at the phone number below to discuss delivery schedule and charges or any other questions you may have. Garland Hall 361 Tillery Rd. Vinemont, AL 35179 (256)734-5078 |

FCA plotting larger Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500XL
Mon, Mar 23 2015The joint development of the new Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X goes to show what the combined efforts of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group can yield. But don't expect the Italian-American automaker to stop there. According to Autocar, the company is planning to base another pair of larger SUVs on the same platform. The Jeep version would take the place of the previous Compass and Patriot, slotting in between the Renegade and Cherokee. Meanwhile, the Fiat version would further bolster the Cinquecento lineup to sit alongside the 500 hatchback, 500L minivan and 500X crossover. Details remain few and far between at the moment, but they wouldn't be the extent of the growth plans for either brand. Jeep is reportedly zeroing in on a decision on the long-rumored sub-Renegade model, while also preparing to expand up-market with the return of the Grand Wagoneer. Fiat is reportedly abandoning the prospect of offering a full model line as it once did. While the 500 range will continue to form a vital part of the brand's business, it's also tipped to be going after the no-frills, bare-bones market dominated by Renault's Dacia brand. To that end, it would seek to build upon the Panda by offering a larger, but still low-cost hatchback to rival the Ford Focus and VW Golf, and succeed the discontinued Fiat Bravo, but based on the 500L's platform and built in Turkey to keep costs down. This second pillar of the Fiat brand wouldn't likely be offered in the US, however, where we'd expect the 500 line to continue representing the Italian automaker. Related Video:
FCA's Pentastar V6 gets more power, efficiency for 2016
Wed, Sep 2 2015Already a vital member of FCA's powertrain lineup, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is receiving major efficiency improvements for 2016. Thanks to a massive amount of new tech attached to the mill, fuel economy is up six percent, and torque below 3,000 rpm jumps nearly 15 percent. The updates arrive first in the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but they should proliferate to other models eventually. At least in the Grand Cherokee, the tweaks push power up five horsepower to 295 ponies. FCA's engineers went through the Pentastar from top to bottom to eke out as much efficiency as possible. For example, there's now a two-speed variable-valve lift system that can run in low- or high-lift modes. This upgrade is responsible for 2.7-percent better economy, the company claims. A new intake manifold with longer runners and updated variable-valve times also helps boost the torque output. Further improvements come from pushing the compression ratio to 11.3:1, from 10.2:1 before. Perhaps most impressive is that despite all of the innovations, the latest Pentastar actually weighs four pounds less than the current version. Beyond the Pentastar improvements, all of the FCA US gasoline engines, except for the Viper's 8.4-liter V10, will be E15-compatible for 2016. The company says that it wants to be ready for the higher ethanol content fuel's greater use in the near future.
Chrysler recalls 2013 Ram pickups, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Wed, 17 Jul 2013Chrysler's spate of successful products is about to be marred by a trio of recalls. The Pentastar is recalling 51,477 Ram trucks and Jeep SUVs. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there have been no reported accidents, injuries or deaths related to the affected vehicles.
The largest action covers the Ram 1500, which is seeing 45,961 trucks being recalled. Models built between June 26, 2012 and February 5, 2013 are being recalled due to a potential software issue in the electronic stability control. Apparently, the system can be randomly deactivated upon vehicle startup.
Chrysler is also recalling 4,458 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Covering everything but the SRT models, the potentially defective SUVs were built between January 14 and March 20, 2013. This recall focuses on "premium headlights," which means cars equipped with LED running lights. During the switch from the bright daytime running lamp setting to the low-intensity parking light setting, an electrical spike can cause one of the Jeep's computers to go into a safe mode, turning off the LEDs. This violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
