1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - 68,076 Original Miles!!!! on 2040-cars
Memphis, Tennessee, United States
For Sale 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 68,076 Original Miles VERY low mileage 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, garaged in
Memphis, Tennessee. I purchased this Jeep
in February 2010 as a fun weekend car because I always liked their style and
have put less than 2,000 miles on it in 4+ years.
I have kept it always in my garage and it has not seen a raindrop in
those 4 and a half years. My wife and I
just had a baby and that is causing me to sell for some extra cash. Pros: This Jeep is a very desirable color combination the Baltic
Blue with Sand interior. Cosmetically
the paint and woodgrain are very clean although I have included one picture
of a ding on the woodgrain where I have held a key up for a size
reference. Interior is in good shape and
original, although the headliner was replaced before I purchased the
vehicle. The car starts easily and
drives well great for cruising around town.
I always got a lot of honks and waves in this car, as for some reason it
seems to make people happy to see one that looks nice. Until a year or two ago Memphis had emissions
testing and this vehicle passed our emissions standards no small feat for an
AM 360 engine of this age. Also the rear
window rolls up and down this motor they often say is one of the first things
to go. Cons: I am not really
a car guy so I can only tell you what I know to be wrong with the vehicle, and
I will be honest. The fuel gauge always
shows full the most likely cause is the fuel tank sending unit has gone
bad. This is not a bad change as I read you can
access the top of the fuel tank from under the rear bench seats, and the
sending unit retails for about $55. The
front driver side tire has a slow leak and is missing the Jeep center cap on
the wheel (these come up on ebay all the time).
The AC blows but does not blow cold may have a freon leak. The heater works great. The emergency break does not completely keep
the car from rolling when it is in gear I think it may need to be tightened. The radio doesnt work but I think the fuse
blew I am going to replace the fuse this week and if that fixes the problem I
will update the listing. Also the power
door locks only lock/unlock a couple of the doors. I have had some work done on this car. Shortly after purchase in 2010 I had new plugs, wires, distributor cap, ignition rotor, a few hoses, and fuel filter replaced as well as a carb rebuild. I also had a catalytic converter, muffler, tail pipe and hanger installed so that it would pass emissions testing. I also had new front and rear shocks and steering damper installed. I have receipts for all of the above. All in all this is not a fully restored or show quality car
that you often see on ebay, but I am not seeking fully restored prices either. However this is a great opportunity to get
into a low mileage Grand Wagoneer that looks great as it drives by, and if you
are handy you can put some time into this car and really have something special. The miles don't lie, and 68k Grand Wagoneers don't come up for sale often in the price range I am looking for. I have listed what I know is wrong with the car but that
does not constitute a warranty that there may not be other things that I do not
know about. The car is still being sold as-is
with no warranties
(expressed or implied, written or oral). I will not provide a return or
refund, no exceptions. Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping
expenses. Car comes with a free and
clear title. If you
have any questions about the Jeep feel free to shoot me an e-mail at
mattlammel@yahoo.com. This is usually the best way to reach me. PAYMENT: I
require a deposit of $1,000.00 to be paid via Paypal within 24 hours of
purchase, no exceptions unless discussed and approved first. Final payment
is due within three (3) calendar days of purchase, no exceptions unless
discussed and approved first. If final payment is not made within three
calendar days, then the deposit becomes my property and I retain the rights to
re-list the car or sell the car at will. By bidding, and/or making an offer, and/or purchasing the car you are agreeing to the terms above.
I have the vehicle listed locally and reserve the right to end this auction at any time. |

Chrysler says its 8-speed transmissions will save 700 million gallons
Thu, Jun 19 2014Chrysler Group's TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission could be earning some serious green bragging rights if the company's projections are correct. The recently widely proliferated automatic gearbox, which is now in more than a million vehicles around the world, is poised to save drivers an estimated 700+ million gallons of fuel over the vehicles' lifetimes (an expected cost savings of $2.5 billion). In addition, Chrysler expects a reduction in CO2 emissions by more than six million metric tons. According to Chrysler, and depending on the vehicle, the TorqueFlite can improve fuel economy. The TorqueFlite autobox features particularly close ratios from fifth to eighth gear (see the press release below for the specific numbers), and uses low-viscosity fluid that doesn't need to be replaced. Transmission software adapts to the driving situation to optimize efficiency based on driver behavior, temperature, grade, stability control, and longitudinal and lateral acceleration. The TorqueFlite is capable of handling a variety of duties. As evidenced by the wide range of vehicles Chrysler Group has seen fit to equip with the eight-speed transmission, the TorqueFlite is capable of handling a variety of duties. Since its 2012 introduction, the TorqueFlite has gone from performing cog-swapping duties in Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 models equipped with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 to changing gears in vehicles such as the Pentastar- and Hemi-powered Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee and even the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. For the 2015 model year, the eight-speed is finding its way into even more vehicles with the addition of a third version. In addition to the American-made TorqueFlite 845RE and 8HP70, the new 8HP90 will be manufactured in Saarbrucken, Germany. The 8HP90 is designed for higher torque loads, making it ideal for high-performance vehicles like the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The already-in-use 8HP70 will expand its duties to be used in 2015 Hemi models such as the Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Challenger SRT8. You can see the list of those benchmarks in Chrysler's press release below.

Daily Driver: 2015 Jeep Renegade Sport 4x4
Fri, Jul 10 2015Daily Driver videos are micro-reviews of vehicles in the Autoblog test fleet, reviewed by the staffers who drive them every day. Today's Daily Driver features the 2015 Jeep Renegade Sport 4x4, reviewed by Adam Morath. Something to note: The vehicle tested here is a pre-production unit, and we had some issues with the MySky removable roof system. (Associate editor Brandon Turkus mentioned these problems in his Quick Spin.) FCA confirms that improvements were made for production-spec cars. You can watch the video above or read a transcript below. Watch more Autoblog videos at /videos. [00:00:00] Hey, this is Adam Morath with another Daily Driver. Today, we're in the 2015 Jeep Renegade and I'm excited to be driving this in a Sport trim level. That's the lowest trim that they offer it in. I say I'm excited, because often we get the cars to totally spec-ed out to the max, the automaker trying to show off what they can do with the car but it doesn't always give you a realistic view of how most customers are going to spec the car, and I think with the Renegade being the entry-level model for Jeep now [00:00:30] replacing the outgoing Patriot and Compass, it makes sense to drive this in the Sport trim. We do have it in 4x4, comes in at just around $23,000. It's powered by a turbocharged 1.4 liter inline 4 and we've got it, made it to the 6-speed manual transmission, which is pretty cool. Again you can see FCA's fingerprints on this car. If they wanted to do well in Europe, of course you've got to offer it with a manual and that's nice for consumers here to have that choice of having a stick shift in the Jeep again. [00:01:00] That's kind of fun. It produces 160-horsepower, 184 pound-feet of torque. It's got a little pack to it. I wouldn't call it sporty but it's enough for a vehicle of this size. This is a pretty basic version of the renegade. The only options we have on it are the AC, the roof rails, 4-wheel drive, which is a must here in Michigan and then these MySky roof panels, which I'll get to in a minute, but that takes us from a base price of $18,000, the cheapest you'll be able to get into a Renegade for [00:01:30] up to about $23,700, which is where we're at. Yes, these are MySky roof panels. It's a totally new feature on the Renegade that Jeep is trying out and I think it's pretty cool. It's like a tee top system, except the panels aren't side by side. You have one in the front and one in the back.
