1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Woody on 2040-cars
Tonawanda, New York, United States
Offered for sale is an accident free 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with 137K pampered miles. This Jeep is a straight, original and rust free body (originally from NC). The interior and exterior of this Grand Wagoner has been professionally restored. The exterior was completely stripped and repainted (base coat/clear coat), including new vinyl wood graphics. All original trim was either rechromed or polished, and original mouldings were refinished. As you can see from the photos the paint shines beautifully and the wood trim is pristine. The glass and rubber are original and in excellent condition, the original wheels were refinished and are wrapped with new tires. All of the power windows, wipers, A/C, and instrument cluster are still original and in perfect working order, as are the compass and temperature gauges. The truck has a new aftermarket Sony radio/CD player with auxillary plug-in, (original Jeep unit is also included). The interior was completely stripped and cleaned with a new carpet and headliner installed. The steering wheel has been reconditioned and an updated center console was installed (original console wil also be included). After 26 years on the road this Grand Wagoneer is in exceptional working order. The original engine was tuned up (plugs/wires/cap) and runs powerful and solid. The three speed transmission shifts smooth and on point. The cruise control and engagement of the 4wd both operate smoothly. The car drives straight and true, and the brakes and handling are all as they should be. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire what is arguably a quickly appreciating icon. Values are being driven to levels that were never expected and yet completely understandable from a collector's perspective. Wether this stellar example is to be used as a more frequent driver or as a fun alternative asset, if you are in the market for a Grand Wagoneer, it deserves your serious consideration. Jeep Wrangler's shift to aluminum could see production leave Toledo
Mon, 06 Oct 2014The Jeep Wrangler may be a timeless design, but sooner or later, time will run out and Chrysler will have to replace it with a newer model more friendly towards the earth it's designed to traverse. That will, it seems, mean a shift to aluminum construction (whether just for the body or for the entire structure) - but what will that mean for the Wrangler's long-time home of Toledo, OH?
According to the latest pronouncements from Fiat Chrysler chief Sergio Marchionne, the shift to an aluminum Wrangler would likely mean moving production out of Toledo. "If the solution is aluminum," Marchionne told Automotive News, "then I think unfortunately Toledo is the wrong place, the wrong setup to try and build a Wrangler, because it requires a complete reconfiguring of the assets that would be cost-prohibitive."
Marchionne also indicated that, were Wrangler production to move elsewhere, it would find another line to take its place in Ohio. "One of the thing that we are dealing with now is what else we do with Toledo that fulfills our commitment to the city and to Ohio. I don't have a doubt that there will be zero impact on head count and employment levels and anything else." Jeep has built the Wrangler in Toledo since World War II, with the exception of six years starting in 1986 when it was built in Brampton, Ontario. The complex dates back to 1910 and currently produces the Wrangler and Cherokee. Past products have included the Wagoneer and Commanche as well as the Dodge Dakota and Nitro.
Toyota, Lexus dominate KBB's Best Resale Value Awards
Tue, 19 Nov 2013Toyota and Lexus stormed the 2014 Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards, winning a combined 18 categories including best brand and best luxury brand. This marks the third year in a row that both automakers have won the Brand and Luxury Brand resale value awards. In all, Toyota won 11 categories and Lexus won seven.
Honda made a good showing, as well, winning two segments (Accord Plug-In Hybrid and Civic Si) and putting one car on the top-10 Best Resale Value list (CR-V). Chevrolet did even better, winning two segments (with the V6 Camaro and the Corvette) and placing three cars on the top-10-overall list (again, the Camaro and Corvette, plus the Silverado 1500).
The other winners came from Jeep, Dodge, Infiniti, Subaru and Audi. To give you a clearer picture of the Toyota and Lexus domination, their 18 mentions represents more than half of the 34 awards (including the top-10-overall list).
Finding surfing spots in the UK is tough work, even in a Jeep
Sun, 06 Jul 2014You truly have to love surfing to practice the sport in the United Kingdom. The area isn't exactly teeming with warm beaches full of sunbathers, and absolutely no easy spots to find big waves. To be a UK surfer, you need to be a fearless adventurer, not to mention quite lucky. And driving a Jeep might help, too.
Surfers Oli Adams and Micah Lester are traveling around the British Isles in a Jeep Wrangler Overland trying to find the best surf spots out there. These guys don't fit the laid-back surfer stereotype, but that's because finding waves in the UK is hard work. They say that the waves at some of these spots only exist for about three hours every year when the current and winds are just right.
To find these surf spots, the Jeep's offroad capabilities are paramount. In some areas, as you'll see in the video, there isn't even a beach, just jagged rocks. It would be like the movie Endless Summer, that is, if it could start snowing at any moment. These guys are clearly dedicated to their sport.
