1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer on 2040-cars

This wagon was original purchased by a doctor that drove it daily and was parked in his garage nightly. The second owner was his friend which owned a local shop. He used it to pull his boat other wise it was parked in his storage with the boat in his shop. This Wagon has been taken care of its whole life. It is my daily driver and I park it in the garage every night. It even sits in the garage over my new truck. I hate to sell it but its time to part ways. Within two years, less than 10,000 miles: Rebuilt trans, 3" Lift, New tires, oil pump, water pump, thermostat, radiator and power steering pump. About a year ago: The rear window stopped working. The switch in the tailgate stopped working, It was replaced with Military grade switch designed for this application. Within 2 months: New rebuilt OEM carb replacement, new CA cat, air filter, coil, cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Even with the care that was taken with this vehicle it does have some flaws. The wood paneling has a couple small nicks on the driver door and on the rear passenger door. They are only visible when looking for them. The paint is in good shape but does have flaws. The hood had some pearl essence spilled on it as well as the rear bumper, see pics. The interior over all is in great shape. The dash is not cracked and looks good. The leather is in great shape but does show some wear on the driver seat and the driver rear seat, no rips or tears. The headliner is in great shape but does have a 6" snag in the rear. The trans was rebuilt including a new torque converter. The transfer case was pulled and taken apart at the same time. The chain does have very minor play but was recommended to not change anything. When its put into reverse it does smack a little because of the transfer case but does not affect driveability and the 4wd does work. The engine oil pan gasket does have a minor leak. I use synthetic oil and only change it every 3k miles. I never need to add oil between changes. CA buyers make note it will not currently pass an emissions test. Out of state sale preferred for this reason. it is barely not passing due to the unadjustable carb is running slightly rich for california standards. This is a 26 year old vehicle that was well cared for but it has been a daily driver for most of its life, its not perfect. Title in hand and ready to be signed off. $500 due within 48 hours of the winning bid (non refundable) and the remaining balance to be paid in full upon pick up. Shipping is buyers responsibility. Jeep Renegade recalled to prevent hacking
Fri, Sep 4 2015Jeep is issuing a voluntary recall of some 7,800 Renegades over fears that their radios may be vulnerable to hacking. The company is quick to stress that this campaign is independent of the hacking scare earlier this year. Only Renegades fitted with the 6.5-inch touchscreen display are affected by the recall. Owners of the affected vehicles will be mailed a USB jump drive that they can plug into their vehicle for a free software update. Alternatively, owners can head over to the UConnect website, enter their VIN, and download the software to their own jump drive. (See how in our video below.) Dealers will also perform the upgrade free of charge. The software update provides "additional security features," that should prevent remote tampering. If this sounds worrying, it's actually not that huge of a problem. First, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles estimates that over half the affected vehicles are still sitting on dealer lots. More importantly, according to FCA, the vulnerability on the Renegade "required unique and extensive technical knowledge, prolonged physical access to a subject vehicle and extended periods of time to write code," making it considerably different than the Cherokee problem. No injuries or hacks have been reported by any Renegade owner. Related Video: Statement: Software Update September 4, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is conducting a voluntary safety recall to update software in approximately 7,810 U.S.-market SUVs equipped with certain radios. More than half remain in dealer hands and will be serviced before they are sold. The campaign – which involves radios that differ from those implicated in another, similar recall – is designed to protect connected vehicles from remote manipulation. If unauthorized, such interference constitutes a criminal act. FCA US has already applied measures to prevent the type of vehicle manipulation demonstrated in a recent media report. These measures – which required no customer or dealer actions – block remote access to certain vehicle systems. The Company is unaware of any injuries related to software exploitation, nor is it aware of any related complaints, warranty claims or accidents – independent of the media demonstration. Affected are certain 2015 Jeep Renegade SUVs equipped with 6.5-inch touchscreens. Customers will receive a USB device which they may use to upgrade vehicle software. This provides additional security features.
Chrysler axes old V6s, goes all-Pentastar
Tue, 03 Sep 2013Old technology has a way of lingering on, particularly at Chrysler headquarters in Auburn Hills. So while the Pentastar V6 has replaced the older engine architecture in just about every application, it still soldiered on in some export markets. But the introduction of a new 3.0-liter Pentastar V6, produced in Michigan and meant only for the Chinese market, has put the final nail in the old engine's coffin.
Fitted into the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler just introduced to China at the Chengdu Motor Show, the downsized six uses the same architecture as the larger 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. But because of its 2,997cc capacity, it can be exported to China without the increased duty the 3.6-liter or even 3.2-liter Pentastar engines would incur. The 3.0-liter V6 develops 230 horsepower at 6,350 rpm and 210 pound-feet at 4,400 rpm.
Admittedly, it's unlikely, but even though the engine was said to be created solely to undercut tax thresholds in China and Europe, the 3.0-liter Pentastar has recently surfaced in rumors of an application here: as the boosted heart of a potential Cherokee SRT with anywhere from 375 to 410 hp.
Jeep Chief and Wrangler Red Rock Responder teased ahead of Easter Jeep Safari
Thu, Mar 12 2015Jeep is being coy about it's lineup for the 2015 Moab Easter Jeep Safari, releasing just a pair of shots and an exceptionally brief press release on two of the seven concepts coming to the desert later this month. So, what can we glean from the limited assets that have been given to us? Well, as we said, we know Jeep is bringing seven vehicles to its big festival. We also know the names of two vehicles, shown above – there's the Chief and the Wrangler Red Rock Responder. Which is which? A fair question. We're betting the second image is the Wrangler-based Red Rock Responder. As for the Chief, well, we've absolutely no idea what to expect there. Jeep's Moab concepts generally include the model name on which their based – see the Grand Cherokee Trail Warrior and Cherokee Dakar from last year, or even the Wrangler Red Rock Responder, mentioned above. There's no such moniker on the Chief. As for the Chief's illustrated teaser image, as we said, it doesn't reveal much. The body is angular, and quite Jeep like, with squared-off wheel arches and decidedly old-school taillights. Beyond that, though, we don't have much to go on. Expect much more not just on the Chief and Red Rock Responder, but on all seven of the concepts Jeep is bringing to Moab. The party starts on March 28 and runs until April 5.
