We have up for sale today a clean Grand Wagoneer. There were only 14,117 Grand Wagoneers built for 1988.. This truck is beautiful and ready to go to another new owner. The Wagoneer has always been known as the gold standard of the SUV market. There is no other ride like a Grand Wagoneer in the SUV marketplace. While this truck is not a museum piece, it is a beautiful piece for the collector or Jeep fan. Remember Jeep was the founder of the modern SUV. The Jeep Wagoneer is an iconic sports utility vehicle (SUV) launched by Kaiser-Jeep back in 1963. While many of us think Wrangler when we hear Jeep, the older generations had a very different image. When Jeep, then owned by American Motors, introduced the Cherokee in 1974, they did so as the less expensive, entry-level counterpart to the Wagoneer. In 1984 the Wagoneer became the Grand Wagoneer, to differentiate it from the Wagoneer with the all-new Cherokee body. Unfortunately, for fans of the line, at some point in 1991, the Grand Wagoneer became a luxury item, then indistinguishable from the modern Grand Cherokee, and then finally ceased all together in 1993 when no one wanted the smaller Grand Wagoneer. The Grand Wagoneer enjoyed one of the longest production runs of any vehicle. The powerful V8 engine and high towing capacity made the Grand Wagoneer popular among its many repeat buyers, and as of 1991, it was the longest domestically produced vehicle (29 years) on the same platform. The 1987-1991 models years "are considered the best of the breed and still have a loyal following among a select group".
Ok now to the details of this beauty. Paint on the truck is a repaint. It was repainted in the oh so rare Spinnaker Blue. Even though the Spinnaker blue paint is not the original color to the Jeep it is a truly beautiful truck in the sunlight, with all of the metallic shimmering. All the wood is original with only a couple small imperfections. This is an awesome truck. This Wagoneer still retains the factory Marchal 850GT fog lamps, which are getting very hard to find especially in this condition.
The interior is all original as it was shipped. The original carpet is the ultra plush which is no longer available for sale. Truck has an aftermarket stereo. The tan leather interior is in great shape and all original to the truck. There are no rips or tears in any of the seats. Most of these trucks with the tan interior are damaged beyond repair, but not this one. This truck comes equipped with the factory sunroof, but it does not open at present. These Wagoneers with the sunroofs are rare as hens teeth. I haven't had it checked out so maybe something minor, but it does not leak.

Is this a brand new Jeep? NO. Is this a piece of American history? Most definitely. It is mostly original except for the color change and one of the cleanest close to originals left.

This is a very nice truck and deserves a good home.

Why Mopar won't release a factory lift kit for the new Jeep Cherokee

Thu, 24 Apr 2014

The Jeep Cherokee Dakar concept showed off at the 2014 Easter Jeep Safari made a lot of online friends, even the Cherokee naysayers assenting that there's a monster Jeep underneath the Cherokee's skin if you're willing to go in and get it. But after reading Road & Track's write-up of what went into creating the Dakar, particularly its lift, you'll understand why you'll probably never see the components for it in the Jeep Performance Parts catalog.
The concept's press release mentions a "prototype Jeep Performance Parts lift kit, and additional suspension modifications." The short-story explanation is that the front struts on the standard Cherokee weren't engineered to accept any amount of lift, so the long story begins with the phrase, "an entirely new suspension." Head over to RT to read the details, and don't be afraid to ogle the Cherokee Dakar gallery and another awesome Jeep fancy that won't likely crawl over the hurdles imposed by production reality.

Jeep Wrangler Scrambler pickup tailgate spied uncovered

Wed, May 2 2018

Jeep has been particularly good at keeping the upcoming Jeep Wrangler pickup truck, affectionately referred to as Scrambler, under wraps, literally. It's very rare to see any portion of the truck sans bulky black fabric. But this time Jeep slipped up and left the tailgate of the truck totally exposed except for some paint. Not surprisingly, there aren't any spare tire mounts here. Previous photos have shown the spare will be mounted underneath the bed, and we haven't seen any running around with tires on the back. There also aren't any logos stamped into the bed, so presumably Jeep will simply slap badges on the back. The shape is also in keeping with the current Wrangler's design. It's chunky and chiseled, but the edges are softened a bit. It's also less straight-edged than what we've seen in renderings. We're currently expecting the Wrangler pickup to arrive at dealers next year. And now that the last JK Wrangler has been built, the factory should be gearing up for truck production. We know that the truck will feature a longer frame with rear suspension that is similar to the Ram 1500. And like all other Wranglers, the top should be removable. 1914 Ford Model T at Historic Greenfield Village | AutoblogVR

Tue, Sep 6 2016

We drive all of the newest and most sophisticated cars, but a 102-year-old Ford is one of our recent favorites. Senior Editor Alex Kierstein headed to historic Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI, to learn to drive a Model T in the latest AutoblogVR segment. Kierstein picks up the Model T fairly quickly, despite its controls. Though they were designed more than a century ago to be simple and easy to use, driving a Model T is complicated and counter-intuitive to the modern motorist. But by the end of his lesson, Kierstein has it all figured out and is enjoying himself. In our other new segment, Detroit Manufacturing, Senior Editor Greg Migliore showcases the city''s industrial might. He tours a modern Fiat Chrysler factory that churns out Dodge Durangos and Jeep Grand Cherokees and then wanders the ruins of the mythical Packard Plant. There's also some tasty and unexpected twists in this VR episode. Each week, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll preview them here on Autoblog, but for the full immersive experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play.
