Why am I selling? Bought it to restore and have not had the necessary time to fully restore.

Body and Paint:    All of the panels are rust free.  The paint is amazing for its age and still holds a very high shine and gloss.  The vinyl and trim haven't been replaced,The door jambs and sills even are in great condition are free of any wear marks.   The driver’s door jamb still retains the factory vehicle info decal with vin number and other vehicle information.

Trim and Chrome:  The exterior trim and chrome are all intact and original to the vehicle. All trim holds a nice high quality chrome shine and free of any pitting.

Engine and Transmission:   The engine is the original 360 V-8 that the Jeep was built with and holds good oil pressure and runs nice and cool. The engine compartment is all original with factory emission tag, data tag and factory markings still in place. The 4x4 switch operates properly as well as the 4x4 low.  This GW runs nice and smooth with a quiet ride.

Interior: The leather seats are in great condition. A new headliner is needed for sitting for several years. The carpet is the original deep shag and is in great condition with a few small wear areas. The door panels do not have any marks on them..  The dash, gauges, steering wheel, horn button, door handles, wood trim accents and balance of the interior are all in great original condition and have never been altered in any way. Stereo is a Sony AM/FM with CD player. I do not have the original radio..

Glass and Mirrors:   From what I have observed the glass is all original.  There aren’t any chips or stars in the windshield.   The side glass has had a minor tint applied because of its southern ownership history and I believe that aided in preserving the interior from sun fade and heat.  The rear power glass window in the tailgate does not operate correctly from either the dash mounted button or key function. This Jeep has the power mirror option for both drivers side and passenger side and they operated smooth and quiet.

Wheels and Tires:   All of the wheels are original and are in very nice condition.  The tires are new and have <1K on them.

Terms of Sale:   I am selling the Jeep “as is” because vehicles of this age are. If you have the opportunity to see and drive this GW before the auction period expires, then I invite you to do so to truly appreciate the originality and excellent condition of this vehicle.

Inexperienced Jeep driver buries his Wrangler at sea

Mon, May 16 2016

There's an old maxim in off-roading that states, "Four-wheel drive doesn't keep you from getting stuck, it just gets you stuck in worse places." The truth of this statement was perfectly illustrated recently in a YouTube video of a Jeep Wrangler digging its own grave at the beach. On May 11, a YouTuber named Dan M uploaded a video he titled, "Drunk guy doesn't know how to off-road and ruins nice Jeep." The video, shot at dusk on a rocky looking beach, shows a blue Wrangler driving out into the surf without a care in the world. Dan, providing commentary along with an unseen female companion, was impressed with the Jeep driver's dash at first. "Wow, he must do that a lot because he ain't scared of getting stuck or anything," said Dan. As the Wrangler got deeper into the water, the Dan's friend expressed her doubts that the Jeep driver would make it out, especially when the Jeep got snagged on a little spit of sand sticking out into the water. Dan wasn't worried, however. "No, he'll manage to get out of there, he'll make it out of there. He'll back out and get out," he said. Dan's confidence in the Jeep driver was sadly misplaced, unfortunately. The driver managed to get the Jeep stuck on the sand bar then made the rookiest of rookie mistakes–he just gunned it. "Oh man, he's done! He's done!" yelled Dan as the Jeep driver proceeded to dig a huge hole in the sand that sunk the Wrangler up to its frame just as the tide started coming in. With that kind of dunking, especially in salt water, that Wrangler was probably a total loss, much like the Grand Cherokee that got washed downriver last week somewhere in Europe. 2014 Jeep Patriot and Compass ditch CVT for six-speed auto

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

It was reported in Automotive News a few months ago, but a new report on Allpar.com adds some details to news that the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot will get a six-speed automatic to replace the CVTs they currently use. According to a tip provided to Allpar, the 2014 models will begin production in March and be on sale sometime in the summer. The Jatco-sourced CVT in use until now - Jatco is owned by Nissan and Mitsubishi - has been often criticized, and many won't be sad to see it go.
The incoming six-speed automatic is said to be an all-wheel-drive cog-swapper that's the work of Hyundai and Magna and has been paired with the DynaMax AWD system used in the Hyundai ix35 and Kia Sportage. It won't be the only Chrysler product using a transmission with ties to Hyundai: the six-speed automatic in the Dodge Dart comes from Powertech, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai. With the Patriot and Compass said to be driving down the trail for the last time this year, it will be a short run for the new tranny and the rumored addition of a backup camera and power rear liftgate on the Compass.
