You're looking at a clean, well-documented 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with low original mileage.

This jeep was bought by my sister from the world-famous Wagonmaster of Kerrville, TX. The jeep underwent an extensive renewal process while at Wagonmaster.(for details about Wagonmaster see the attached link - www.wagonmaster.com).   Prior to that the jeep had two California owners. The Grand Wagoneer had 74,000 original miles on it when my sister bought it in 2006.  It currently has 88,000 miles.  I have all of the paperwork on the vehicle since it was purchased from Wagonmaster as well as the paperwork from Wagonmaster that shows the restoration they did.

The body has no dents and no visible rust.  The undercarriage and floorboards are clean and dry - no evidence of undercoating or attempts to cover anything up. Wagonmaster repainted the jeep in 2006 and it is Hunter Green with Saddle Tan interior.  There is some minor paint fading on the roof and the fenders, and some oxidation on the chrome. These minor blemishes are un-noticeable from about 10 feet away, but are visible when up close as seen in the pictures.  The wood trim has recently been refurbished and some of the plugs are missing.  Please note the picture.  The vinyl paneling is in great condition but does have a few blemishes.

On the inside, the leather seats are all in good condition although there are a few tears on the seats.  I have taken detailed pictures of the seats.  The carpets are all original and in excellent condition.  All the power windows and locks work.  The back right window motor was recently replaced. The drivers side mirror adjuster does not work.

The engine is a 5.9 liter V – 8 (360 CID) 2 – barrel carburetor. The carburetor has also been recently rebuilt and runs smoothly.  We recently installed a new set of whitewall tires all around with less than 1,000 miles on them.

The jeep is slow to start especially on cold days.  I have to “pump” the gas and let it sit for a minute or two a couple of times.  Once it starts it drives great.  It will, on occasion, stall at idle.

The vehicle is sold in as-is condition and is being sold locally - so I reserve the right to end the bid at any time.  The Jeep is available for inspection locally and I'd be happy to answer any additional questions (best I can) or provide additional photos.

These Jeeps are becoming harder to find especially in great condition as this one.   Whenever we are driving this jeep, we always get comments!  It looks amazing and is really fun to drive.

Buyer pays shipping cost.  Please email me with any questions.

FCA believes thieves aren't getting into Jeeps with laptops

Mon, Jul 11 2016

Last week, we reported on an incident where thieves stole a 2010 Jeep Wrangler from an owner's driveway in Houston, TX with nothing but a laptop. While the security footage made it seem like the perpetrator hacked into the vehicle, we had a conversation with FCA's senior manager of security architecture Titus Melnyk who set the record straight. According to Melnyk, the thief in the video isn't using the laptop to get into the vehicle, but rather as a means of coding a blank key fob and then using that fob to get into the Jeep. According to Melnyk, the suspects have gained access to a key programming tool, which allows them to pair blank key fobs to FCA vehicles. With the key fob now coded, the suspects can get into the vehicle and drive away. The thieves, believes Melnyk, have acquired the programming tool through a dishonest dealership or locksmith. Since the suspects are using a process designed to be used (honestly) by dealers, FCA doesn't consider this to be hacking and believes that there are no security flaws in the vehicles. How are the thieves getting key fobs? While Melnyk believes it is possible to recode an existing key fob, he points out that it's much easier to purchase a blank key fob on Ebay for less than $25. FCA is working closely with the Houston Police Department to apprehend the suspects. Related Video: Jeep Technology SUV Videos viral video hacking thieves

2014 Jeep Cherokee: Long-term wrap-up [w/video]

Tue, Aug 11 2015

Sorry, Sweet Brown. Your place in Autoblog history as the most highly demanded long-term car has come to an end. We just finished a one-year test of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, and after 27,000 miles of hard use, one thing is very clear: this is one of the best all-rounders we've ever tested. The Jeep Cherokee isn't perfect, and our long-term tester proved that. But no compact crossover is. Still, the Trailhawk oozed personality where other small CUVs seem bland, and the Jeep felt more like a trusty companion than just another test car. For road trips, the requests weren't, "Can I have a long-term car this weekend?" They were specific: "I'd like the Cherokee, please." No matter the season, the driver, or the situation, the Jeep was always a sure fit. Fiat Chrysler bet big with this one. It had a global platform, a new engine, and one heck of a funny face. The end result was a CUV that we'd gladly welcome back into our fleet any day. View 51 Photos Our car carried a sticker price of $38,059, but that's without goodies like HID headlamps, a sunroof, or even full leather seats. Lots To Like Admittedly, we picked the Trailhawk trim for cosmetic reasons (more on it's off-road capability in a second). To this day, many of us still think the Cherokee is a homely little thing, but its inherent weirdness doesn't stand out as much when you add the black accents and big, knobby tires of the Trailhawk model. The butched-up look really works here, and we wouldn't have wanted the Jeep any other way. Of course, opting for Trailhawk package meant getting one of Jeep's more expensive Cherokees. Our car carried a sticker price of $38,059, but that's without goodies like HID headlamps (which we could have used – the halogens were pretty weak), a sunroof, or even full leather seats. This car genuinely felt premium, though. Right off the bat, the Cherokee received compliments for its comfortable, supportive seats, not to mention the high quality of interior materials and the general fit and finish. Specifically, the interior packaging won us over early on. We appreciated things like the higher-end stereo, smart layout of the center console, and ample storage, including a bin under the front passenger seat cushion. (That said, we also found that this bin becomes a catch-all for wrappers, french fries, and anything else that might get dropped on the seat.) The Uconnect infotainment system was a joy to use, never giving us any finicky problems or usability issues.

Dirt Every Day tries to find the best 4x4 for under $4k

Mon, 25 Aug 2014

If you want to build a cheap truck that can still do dirty deeds off the beaten path, it's best to start with solid axles and a solid V8 engine. That sums up the lessons learned after watching the 2014 Cheap Truck Challenge from the Dirt Every Day video crew, who took to the deserts and surrounding areas near Reno, NV, in an attempt to find the best 4x4 for under $4,000. Fortunately for us, the whole sordid journey was captured on video.
This isn't the first time the boys from DED filmed a Cheap Truck Challenge, and this year's festivities pitted together a 1993 Chevy S10 pickup, a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 1975 International truck in a series of challenges ranging from donuts to drag races, with plenty of hill-climbing and rock-crawling action in between. We don't want to spoil all the fun, but suffice it to say one competitor was found to be lacking while the other two performed (mostly) well. See for yourself in the video above.
