1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 89,000 Miles, 4wd Runs And Drives Great, Nice Shape! on 2040-cars
Inverness, Florida, United States
This 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is in great shape for its year! This vehicle is in excellent mechanical condition, starts right up and drives great! Most everything on this vehicle is all original, and is in amazing condition for its age, this vehicle is reliable enough to be a daily driver and classic enough to be a head turner!
The engine and transmission appear to be all original and are in great working condition, carburetor has been reconditioned at some point and normal maintenance appears to have been performed. Transmission shifts smoothly with no fluid leaks, brakes all are in good working condition, 4WD works as it should, the AC system is also original and is nice and cold! The interior is in great shape for its age, driver seat shows some cracking, otherwise all the seats are in nice shape, carpet is original and in good condition, as is the rest of the interior. There is one spot in the rear cargo area that has some discoloration, otherwise its quite nice inside. Body is in good shape, no rust on the underside of the vehicle, there may have been some rust repair at some point as the paint on the roof is a different shade starting at about 1/3 of the way down the roof. It feels solid though and doesn't appear to have any existing problems. Paint shines very well, as you can tell the woodgrain decals need to be replaced, but its still a good looking vehicle. There are some areas that we know of that need attention. The power windows all work but the motors sound like they are really laboring hard to put the windows up and down, it seems that the guides for the windows need to be lubricated or maybe some window motors replaced. The power locks work, though sometimes the driver door actuator does not work. Also it seems that a lot of the weatherstripping should be replaced as it is dried out. Also the interior switch for the tail gate window does not work, but it does work from the key switch in the tail gate. I'm sure there are a few other small things that I've forgotten about but this vehicle is in great running and driving condition. If you have any questions please ask before bidding! Blake Anderson drives an over-the-top patriotic Jeep
Thu, Jan 15 2015Comedian Blake Anderson is seeing growing success as one of the stars and co-creators of the Comedy Central show Workaholics. Not surprisingly, when you get your own TV show, there's a deep desire to celebrate with a big purchase, a car perhaps. Anderson did just that, but as opposed to plunking his money down on a Porsche or Mercedes-Benz, he took a much more patriotic route. Anderson described his ride as "an American Jeep" in an interview with Conan O'Brien, and he didn't mean that it was from the AMC years of the off-road brand's ownership. Instead, this one is as patriotic as they come thanks to a beautifully regal bald eagle covering the hood with the nation's flag as the background running up at least to the windshield. Hear Anderson's entire story of buying this red, white and blue off-roader in the video above.
Federal investigations about safety of rear-mounted gas tanks is nothing new
Sun, 09 Jun 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Chrysler are currently making waves in our daily news feeds due to a disagreement over the safety of a few million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models. Specifically, NHTSA has asked Chrysler to recall the SUVs because of the location of their fuel tanks, but you may be interested to know that requests such as this are nothing new.
Besides the two Jeep models, NHTSA has launched investigations over the years in such models as the Ford Crown Victoria (and its police-car counterpart), GM pickups built between 1972 and 1987, and rather famously the Ford Pinto.
Understanding how automakers and NHTSA have dealt with fuel-tank-safety concerns in the past may offer a better understanding of how Chrysler and the government agency will settle their current dispute. Check out the complete article from The Detroit News here.
FCA inline-six rumored to be real, headed for Jeep Wagoneer
Thu, Dec 20 2018In September, Allpar reported that that clues being dropped at Fiat- Chrysler headquarters, in the carmaker's factories, and on engineer resumes pointed to the development of an inline six-cylinder engine. The site has just proclaimed the rumor is reality, writing that the straight-six, "turbocharged to meet or beat 5.7 Hemi power ratings, with a smoother torque curve, is on the way." The motor's first outing is expected to be either the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, debuting perhaps next year, or the Jeep Wagoneer, debuting in 2020 or 2021. "Tornado" is the purported codename for the power plant said to be just under three liters in displacement, expanding the family begun with the Global Medium Engine 2.0-liter turbo codenamed Hurricane. Engine bay constraints and a long use horizon mean engineers won't simply add two more cylinders to the GME, however. Allpar says the brief is to keep the Tornado GME-T6 — the alphanumeric for "turbocharged six" — no more than three inches longer than the Tigershark 2.4-liter four-cylinder. That means "major design changes" that could include a space-saving head, more closely spaced cylinders, and no cylinder liners. An FCA division called Comau could be called on for its "SmartSpray" plasma lining technology. Allpar muses that the standard version of the engine for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram could get a single twin-scroll turbocharger. Performance trims for Alfa Romeo and Maserati could get different heads and maybe twin turbos, an SRT version might also get both those tweaks. History shows that the Italian versions would make changes to the block, as well. Even so, the Tornado would be less expensive than any Ferrari-supplied V6. A straight-six would put FCA in company with current adopters BMW and Mercedes-Benz, future users like Jaguar, and perhaps Aston Martin. The engine would span the widest range of use cases in the U.S. carmaker's portfolio, though. Potential applications include being a base engine for Ram trucks, serving double duty as a base engine and 5.7-liter Hemi replacement for the Dodge Charger and Challenger, working in the high-end Jeeps, and as a properly hot trim — with Ferrari-designed heads — in the luxury Italian sports cars. The Alfa Romeo Giulia begs for just such motivation to fill the gap between the 280-hp, $42,695 Ti Sport RWD and the 505-hp, $73,700 Giulia Quadrifoglio RWD. And a twin-turbo inline-six in a Maserati Alfieri would stack up nicely with the Germans.
