1976 Jeep Wagoneer 401ci AMC torque monster motor with edelbrock intake, 650 off road edelbrock carb, DUI hei distributer, 9mm DUI live wire plug wires, Holley electric fuel pump, long tube headers, new polyurethane gas tank, and all new fuel lines and brake lines. Trans is a 400 turbo that was just rebuilt and has a new 239 t case from an old Cherokee Chief. Custom made front and rear drive shafts. Has 2 and 4 wheel drive now. Gas mileage is much better now. Rustys off road 6in lift kit with all spring lift no blocks. Rancho adjustable shocks, extended brake lines, drop pitman arm, and trans lowering spacers. Has about 2000 miles on a new set of 35in off road tires. Factory Dana 44 front and rearend. Interior is all really nice with only a small tear on driver outside bolster from climbing in and out and carpet is faded. All gauges work along with gas gauge. Heat, cruise, radio, clock, and even the AC blows cold! Has all new bushings in front in and new brakes all the way around. Has a Holley electric fuel pump so that it doesn't run out of gas when climbing steep hills. I bought this jeep out of Arizona about 8yrs ago and the body is very solid. Has one small dent from wheelin but body is very straight. Has a small bit of rust bubbles starting on the passenger front fender but that's it. I've trimmed the wheel wells out because tires would rub when off road. The jeep is a beast off road for sure! Goes everywhere.  Also has air horns and a few other little things but you get the gist of it. All floors and frame are perfect. Call or text with questions 502-803-5767. Thanks

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.

Jeep Wrangler Polar is a tasty frozen treat

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

Perhaps it's because we've seen so many kitted-out examples over the years, but it seems to us that the Jeep Wrangler tends to wear its special-edition duds better than most models. It might be the icon's familiar rectilinear proportions or the inherent bolt-on look of its extremities - bumpers, mirrors, lighting, and step rails - but we've seen precious few factory specials that look anything but excellent.
Case in point: this new Jeep Wrangler Polar unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This European-market limited-edition model is said to be a celebration of winter driving, which evidently works out to a body-color hardtop, black-accent seven-slot grille, 18-inch gloss black wheels, Trac-Lok limited-slip differential and a hard hat for the spare tire. Finished here in Hydro Blue (Billet Silver Metallic and Bright White are also available) and a black interior with Polar White accents, the Polar edition features badges displaying 78° S and 106° E longitude and latitude coordinates for Vostok, Antarctica.
This new Jeep will be available in both standard and Unlimited formats with either the 3.6-liter Pentastar gas engine or the still-not-for-US 2.8-liter turbodiesel when it bows early next year. For further details, check out our gallery above and the press release below.

Marchionne uses racial epithet to describe what must power future Alfa Romeo models

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Sergio Marchionne and his Fiat empire have a lot riding on the US return of the Alfa Romeo brand. The endeavor has been in progress for what feels like a lifetime - certainly for as long as Fiat has had the Chrysler brand under its Italian wing.
It's not surprising that Fiat CEO Marchionne needs a perfect first Alfa to mark a return to America. And here's where things get dicey. Nobody would argue with Marchionne's insistence that Alfa Romeo's be powered by Italian engines - as Marchionne himself is quoted to have said at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, "There are some things that are well done in Italy."
If not what he said, then, it's how he said it that has eyebrows raised. "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it needs to be a wop engine." Wait, what's that?
