1985 CJ7 Renegade with 89,000 original miles. T-176 4 speed, PS, PB, AC. Full hard doors, Best top soft top in perfect shape. Rust free Texas Jeep in excellent original condition. As you can see in the pictures, the floors, fender wells, and undercarriage are amazingly clean. No indication that this Jeep ever spent a day outside of the garage as the original dash pad and seats have no cracks or tears and show very little wear. The hood has been repainted, and the remainder of the Jeep appears to retain it's original paint. The body is extremely straight. There are a few dings upon very close inspection, but could easily and inexpensively be removed by a PDR guy if so desired. There are two areas where the paint is not perfect - front fender near the flare, and passenger rear corner near the spare tire carrier. I can provide any additional pictures as needed. There has been a Weber carb installed, other that that the mechanicals are completely stock. Power steering, power brakes, and factory AC. AC unit blows, but not cold, compressor will kick in when AC is turned on. Would be an easy repair if AC is desired. Drives, shifts, steers, and stops very well. Suspension and steering are nice and tight. Jeep could use a little fine tuning on the Weber, as it lags a little when accelerating when fully warmed up. Wipers, horn, blinkers, lights all work. Last inspected and registered in 2005. Since then it's been stored in an airplane hangar and used as a run around vehicle at an airstrip. This Jeep looks like is has 20,000 miles, not 89,000 and will stand it's ground next to $25,000 low mileage CJ-7s like the ones offered by Collins Bros Jeeps, etc. Feel free to call me with any questions, or to set up a time to inspect the vehicle. Jeep lays out 5-year plan, including rebirth of Grand Wagoneer and new C-segment offering
Tue, 06 May 2014Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Machionne presented a five-year plan for the company brands this morning, with Jeep first up on a long day of presentation. Jeep's head honcho Michael Manley wasted no time in laying out what the foreseeable future will look like for what he calls the "lead global brand" of the company.
Big goals for the next half-decade will include expanding the lineup from five nameplates built in one country, to six nameplates build in six countries. That expansion of models will include both a three-row competitor, and, of course, a small vehicle to slot below Cherokee. The company is also seeking to add a whopping 1,300 dealers over the next few years, to sell all this new metal, and has an aggressive goal of doubling Jeep sales by the time 2018 rolls around.
As expected, that first salvo from the off-road brand will be the debut of the much ballyhooed Renegade small crossover in the third quarter of this year. Jeep has already designated that Renegade will get refreshed for the 2017 model year, as well.
Airbag fault on 1M recalled Jeeps getting second look from NHTSA [UPDATE]
Mon, 02 Jun 2014UPDATE: Here is the statement we received from Chrysler regarding NHTSA's query: "Chrysler Group LLC advised the National Highway Traffic Administration of the six reports and, in accordance with the Company's long-standing practice, is cooperating fully with the resulting investigation. Customer safety is paramount at Chrysler Group. Customers who are concerned may call 1-800-853-1403."
It appears that Jeep's repairs for nearly one million Grand Cherokees from 2002-2004 and Liberty models from 2002-2003 might not be over yet. The vehicles were first recalled in November 2012 because the front airbags could suddenly deploy without being in an accident. Now, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a recall query into them because of reports of inadvertent activation on some already corrected vehicles.
The original problem affected over 919,000 vehicles worldwide, including 744,822 in the US, and was caused by a degrading circuit in the wires that control the airbags. In some cases the airbag warning light would come on just before the premature activation, but in other cases it would just happen. The automaker installed an "in-line jumper harness with an integrated electrical filter" meant to eliminate the power spikes believed to be the cause.
