1983 Jeep CJ7 soft top with a substantial list of new parts and upgrades.  4 new wheels with 31x10.50 Mickey Thompson Baja Claw tires, Summers Brothers locker axles, and new hubs.  New radiator, alternator, Howell throttle body, 20 gallon fuel tank and sending unit, electric fuel pump, battery, water pump, fan clutch, hoses, belts, lines, valve cover, engine mounts, transmission/transfer case mounts, exhaust, brakes, and axle seals.  Inside has a completely new custom stainless steel dash, with custom wrinkle finish center section and wrinkle finish transmission cover, new wiring, gauges, lights, knobs, speakers, heater core and fan, and new computer programmed by Howell Engine Developments.  The new remote control radio is MP3 and satellite capable.

The soft top is not new, but is certainly serviceable.  All the windows are clear and the door hardware all operates as it should.  The 4X4 works perfectly, and it has not been abused.  The mileage may or may not be close.  When I purchased the Jeep it had not been used much for about 10 years, and had only been intermittently licensed.

This Jeep is not new and it is not perfect, however it has been well maintained.  There are a few honest scratches and dents, but it is not a rusted out, beat up, wreck.  I do not offer or imply any warranty, either written or verbally with the purchase of the vehicle.  I am more than happy to help with a transport company, but am not responsible for any of the fees.  The Jeep is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction early.

$500 non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of auction close.

25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango SUVs recalled over brake feel

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Chrysler has announced that it is recalling over 25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from several markets over concerns about brake feel under hard braking. The affected models are from the 2012 and 2013 model years, although the actual dates of production aren't available. 18,700 are in the US, while 825 are in Canada, 530 are in Mexico and a further 5,200 outside of North America.
According to a statement, Chrysler was informed of the issue by a component supplier for the Ready Alert Braking system, which primes the brakes in anticipation of an emergency stop. A component in the system was restricting the flow of brake fluid too much.
As Chrysler is quick to point out, the way the brakes functioned was in compliance with regulations and there are no reported cases of drivers losing braking power. Instead, the issue rests with what Chrysler calls a pedal feel that "was not consistent with customer expectations." So it would seem Chrysler is being proactive and fixing a problem not because there's a legal issue at work, but simply because it doesn't feel the way the manufacturer wants it to. Well done.

Chrysler recalls 350k vehicles over ignition switches

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

Chrysler has announced a recall covering 349,442 vehicles due to ignition switches that can either become stuck or move without warning. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2008 model year, and were built before May 12, 2008.
The automaker has learned that ignition keys on some vehicles "may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position during engine-startup," the company said in a statement. Additionally, "an ignition key may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position and may inadvertently move through the 'ON' position to 'ACCESSORY' or 'OFF.'"
Chrysler says it is unaware of any related injuries, and notes that while reduced braking, engine or steering power is possible in such instances, the airbags are not affected. The later stands in contrast to General Motors' recent rash of high-profile recalls, and it's an important distinction that Chrysler (understandably) felt necessary to call out in bold print in its press release.

Fiat 500X poised for Paris catwalk

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

We've known for some time that the new, Fiat-based baby Jeep (which may or may not be called the Jeepster) is set to arrive at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. What we weren't sure of was whether its platform mate, the so-called Fiat 500X, would be doing so alongside or at a later date. Well, according to Reuters, we'll get to see the first all-wheel-drive 500 later this year in the City of Lights.
Yes, we can expect the 500X to arrive at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, according to an official with an Italian trade union. The unnamed source cited retooling at Fiat's Melfi factory, in southern Italy, which currently produces the Grande Punto. It's expected that the newest member of the growing 500 family will replace the Suzuki SX4-based Fiat Sedici, although when the X will go on sale remains an open question.
According to Reuters, both the Jeepster and 500X will be built alongside each other in Italy. Whether the 500X will cross the pond with it's slat-grilled cousin, though, remains to be seen (we're leaning towards yes).
