Barn Find Survivor 1976 Jeep AMC CJ7 Renegade Levis Edition Manual Drive - 258 Straight Six This 1976 Jeep CJ7 is up for sale to settle an estate, it is a garage kept survivor condition Levis Edition Renegade Jeep. This Jeep had recent motor work to get it up to par and road worthy. This Jeep is a running and driving survivor CJ7. The CJ7 enjoys a longer wheelbase and larger door openings than its CJ5 brothers. This CJ7 Levis Edition Renegade features factory paint, decals and most of its original factory trim. Please see the pictures for a detailed visual of what is factory and remains original to the vehicle. If you have any specific detailed questions please send me a message. You are more than welcome to come and see the vehicle and take it for a test drive. Everything works as it should mechanically and it runs and drives as it should. 4 wheel drive engages and works as it should. I have not taken this vehicle off road, I have only drove it on the occasional cool evenings around town. This is not a restored example of a Levis Edition CJ7 but an original survivor condition running and driving Jeep. There are some rust spots in the lower rockers, there are dents at the rear corners, there is rust through on the floors that have been strengthened for durability. We toyed with the idea to replace the front floor pans and repair the rust/dents and repaint and re decal the Jeep but the restoration shop refused and stated it should be sold as is so the future owner could decide what they want to do. The restoration shop stated that these original untouched Jeeps with their original patina are all the rage and in fashion and it would be better for the future owner to decide what they wanted to do and which direction to take. This is a great vehicle and brings back memories of my youth. This Jeep has been in the family for a long time and it is time to let it go to a new home. This Jeep features the original rear seat, the original and perfect dash, the original Jeep gauges and steering wheel. It has a new valve cover gasket, new battery, new radiator hoses, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new plugs and oil filter and other mechanic services completed. The front seats are seat covers, the original front seats have tears, the top is a newer Bestop color correct top as the original top is no longer available. Please take a detailed look at the pictures and if you require more detailed pictures just let me know. If you have any questions or want specific pictures of anything please feel free to message me. If you would like to come and drive the vehicle please let me know, we are located in Nashville TN. |

Jeep still working to improve Cherokee's 9-speed auto
Tue, Feb 3 2015Fiat Chrysler is hoping an upcoming software update will stem the tide of consumer complaints surrounding its nine-speed automatic transmission. Owners of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee have reported a number of problems on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's SaferCar.gov website, since the new model and its troubled gearbox arrived way back in October 2013. The software update is "intended to keep the vehicle performing as intended, and to prevent durability issues from occurring in the future," an FCA spokesperson told Automotive News, and will be available to owners of both the 2014 to 2015 Jeep Cherokee and the 2015 Chrysler 200, which also uses the 9AT. While FCA will be notifying consumers of the update, owners can also request the software reflash if they happen into their dealer before then. Despite the widely documented problems with the transmission, the only complaints on NHTSA's website relate to the 2014 Cherokee – neither the 2015 Jeep nor the 200 have received any complaints. That bodes well as FCA prepares to begin deliveries of the 2015 Jeep Renegade and launch the Fiat 500X, both of which pair the 9AT with the 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder. "We have had to do an inordinate amount of intervention on that transmission, surely beyond what any of us had forecast," FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne told Automotive News. "There are things that we have done – that we continue to do. Our proactive customer care intervention has actually increased in intensity on these vehicles in 2014, especially in the second half." What's fascinating about the 9AT's problems are that they haven't been the fault of manufacturer ZF, but have related to software that wasn't "mature" and had "teething problems," Marchionne has said previously, AN reports. With the lack of criticism for the 9AT in 2015 models and this pending software update, though, here's hoping that FCA has finally figured out its fuel-sipping gearbox. Related Video:
Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk undisguised with Hellcat power
Tue, Jul 5 2016Superchargers make everything better. Mount one to the top of a 6.2L Hemi V8 and pack it under the hood of a Jeep Grand Cherokee and you have a recipe for a completely bonkers, wholly unnecessary, and totally sweet SUV. We've known for a while that the so-called Trackhawk, essentially a Hellcat Jeep, is on its way. We now have photos of a completely undisguised test vehicle on public Michigan roads trying to make its way to SRT headquarters. Jeep already makes an SRT version of the Grand Cherokee. That version only puts out a measly 475 hp and 470 pound-feet of torque from a 6.4L Hemi. After developing a couple of 707-hp Dodges, SRT felt that Jeep needed some of that Hellcat love too. In the photos, we can see that, aside from the front fascia, the Trackhawk will look fairly similar to the standard SRT Grand Cherokee. The front retains the requisite Jeep grille, though it's been narrowed a bit to make room for larger air intakes below. The Hellcat engine creates a lot of heat, so designers needed to make sure the beast has plenty of room to breathe. New LED fog lights have been integrated into lower air ducts. We still don't know many of the Trackhawk's finer details, like the exact price or release date. We do know that Jeep claims a 3.5-second 0-60 time, making it both the quickest-accelerating Hellcat-powered vehicle and one of the quickest-accelerating vehicles in the world. For comparison, BMW claims the X5 M will do 0-60 in 4 seconds flat. Related Video: Featured Gallery Grand Cherokee Trackhawk View 9 Photos Spy Photos Jeep SUV
Toledo continues fight for Jeep Wrangler production, despite mayor's death
Thu, Feb 19 2015Where will the next-generation Jeep Wrangler be built? That's an open question, but it's one that the city of Toledo, OH desperately wants to be the answer to. The city suffered a major blow, though, with the death of Mayor Michael Collins earlier this month. Collins had been the city's biggest champion during talks with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, before suffering a fatal heart attack on Feb. 6. But Collins' tragic death isn't dampening the city's desire to carry on as the home of the Wrangler. "The mayor's passing is tragic. But on Monday, when I came to work, I knew exactly what I needed to do and exactly what needed to be done," the city's director of development, Matt Sapara, told the Detroit Free Press. According to the Freep, Sapara said Toledo and the state of Ohio have delivered an outline of a development plan that would give FCA the ability to buy an extra 100 acres to expand the factory. This is to help accommodate FCA's targeted output of 300,000 to 350,000 next-generation Wranglers, up from the 240,000 the factory can make now. "Our target in the proposal is to provide a way to increase the production capacity to a number that allows Fiat Chrysler to meet its business model," Sapara told the Freep, adding that the land could be available later this summer. FCA, meanwhile, has shown a somewhat ambivalent attitude towards Toledo production, with CEO Sergio Marchionne openly discussing the pros and cons of continuing to build the Wrangler south of the Michigan border. "We are going to take a very hard look at this without ignoring what these guys have done," Marchionne told the Free Press at last month's Detroit Auto Show, adding that he'd like to keep production there, provided the cost of retooling is comparable to relocating to another facility.
