1 Owner - Jeep Patriot, Latitude Edition 4x4 With Rare* 5spd Manual Transmission on 2040-cars
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States
I bought this Jeep new in September of 2010 and it has never let me down. Its a great little truck, does awesome in the snow and gets decent gas mileage (22 in the city and as good as 26 on the hwy). I wouldn't hesitate to drive this vehicle anywhere...and I mean that! It will go just about anywhere. Also, with a manual transmission this little trucklette is many times more reliable than the more common CVT models, plus it gets better gas mileage.
Interior: The cloth interior has held up extremely well. There are no stains or marks on the front seats and the rear seat has indentations from child seats. I'm told if the child seats are taken out the normal shape of the seat returns...probably not an issue but worth mentioning. The carpet is near perfect everywhere and the factory original floor mats are still intact. Exterior: CarFax should show one accident back in 2012. A woman backed into the driver's side in her minivan. Insurance covered the repair and I had it performed at a legitimate shop opting to replace both the front and rear door with good used doors off a black Jeep Patriot rather than having the original doors repaired. It was more expensive to do it this way but worth it in my opinion to ensure there was no body filler or corrosion issues years later. The passenger side has a door ding about the size of a dime on the front door and a pretty decent size dent in the front fender just above the turn signal (see photos). Mechanically: This thing is rock solid. It corners flat, tracks straight and rides smoothly. The brakes are good and should last another 30 thousand miles depending how you drive. It has decent power for a 4 cylinder and I've never hand an issue with the engine/drivetrain. I added a K&N cold air intake at around 10k miles and saw a minor increase in mileage. The clutch has good grip and doesn't slip, squeal or chatter. The AWD/4WD system works as it should and the vehicle is not subject to any recalls. Overall this Jeep is in good condition, it has a few minor imperfections but nothing that impacts performance or reliability. |

NHTSA upgrading Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango headliner fire probe
Wed, 15 Jan 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation into headliner fires experienced by a small number of Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango owners has been upgraded to an engineering analysis, the step before the initiation of a recall. In August last year the investigation began with 146,000 Grand Cherokees from 2012 after three complaints were received, but a report on Edmunds says it has been expanded to include 593,299 vehicles covering the 2011-2013 model years for the Jeep and the Dodge Durango, which uses the same headliner assembly, because of possibly 52 incidents of fire.
In some of those incidents drivers have reported a burning odor, smoke or open flames that were contained to the headliner or migrated to another area of the passenger compartment. The culprit has apparently been found: NHTSA blaming an electrical short in the sun visor vanity light wiring, which is routed under the headliner and held in place by three screws. Chrysler began its own probe into the issue when it was first reported and is still looking into the situation while, "fully supporting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation."

Jeep celebrates with 75th anniversary editions [w/video]
Thu, Jan 7 2016Jeep is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. That's one heck of a milestone, and it's celebrating with a special edition. Not just one special edition, either. The all-American off-road brand has wheeled out six – one for each model in its lineup. Though the specifications for each of these 75th Anniversary Edition specials differs from model to model, they each feature an available green paintjob, wheels in a low-gloss bronze finish, orange trim, interiors upholstered in a unique mesh fabric, and (of course) special badges inside and out. They also each feature some manner of open-air aperture, from the fully convertible roof on the Wrangler through the fabric roof panel on the Renegade to the more conventional power sunroofs on the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Compass, and Patriot. The shades of green paint depend on the model. The Compass, Patriot, Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee offer Recon Green, the Renegade a brighter Jungle Green, and the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited can be had in Sarge Green. If you don't dig the verde approach, you can still order yours up in a different color. The Wrangler special naturally comes the most prepared for off-road duty, packed with rock-crawling equipment like Dana axles with a choice of axle ratios. For more details, you'll want to delve into the press release below, and for a closer look you can scope them out in the accompanying image gallery and video footage. The 75th Anniversary editions are set to hit dealers within the next few months, with prices starting at $22,475 (plus $995 destination) for the Patriot. This content is hosted by a third party.
