This truck is fitted with an Australian ARB bull bar. It also has ARB/Old Man Emu shocks and springs providing a modest but useful 1+ 1/2 " lift. Mounted on the bull bar is a pair of PIAA driving lights.

It has the 5-spd manual transmission and 3.7L gasoline engine. The transmission is a Mopar (not aftermarket) reman that was installed Sept 2013 and came with a 100,000 mile warranty. Also new in Sept 2013: catalytic converter and transfer case shifter assembly. The clutch pack was replaced March 2014. The a/c compressor was replaced in August 2012, as were calipers, rotors, e-brake cable, exhaust system and outer tierod ends.

The color is Cactus Green pearlcoat. It has an EVIC info center, unusual in a Renegade, providing compass, outside temp, distance to empty, mileage to service, accumulated mileage, instant mileage, trip odometer, and more. The head unit is a JVC with a Sirius module and several months remaining on the subscription.

Factory equipment includes the Skid Plate Group, Trailer Tow Group with a 2" receiver, the Active Lifestyle Roof Rack upgrade, 160 amp alternator, tinted glass, power fold-away mirrors, power sunroof, power locks, power driver's seat, power windows, fog lamps, tubular side steps, cruise control, six speakers, tilt steering column and the all-important grocery bag hooks (plus a lot of other stuff).

I have the service log showing that the original owner had the oil changed every 3,000 miles. I change the oil myself and have used Pennzoil Ultra 100% synthetic motor oil. Despite the 220,000 miles on the odo, the engine does not use more than a quart of oil in 1,500 miles, and in fact ran for 3,000 miles last winter without consuming any oil. A typical tank of fuel will average 18-20mpg. A high percentage of the mileage is of the over-the-road variety; my wife and I have driven it on National Parks vacations from Western NY to Oregon and the State of Washington, to California, to Maine, and to Georgia several times.

I had the undercarriage coated by Ziebart in November, 2012. There is a modest amount of rust bubbling along the bottom edge of the passenger doors and rocker panel, and on the inside of the rear door. The sale price includes clean right-side doors, rear door and rear glass I brought back from Atlanta, which are ready to paint and hang. A pair of brand-new struts for the rear glass is also included.

Marchionne may stay with FCA until 2020

We might get to see Sergio Marchionne and his vast array of sweaters in the auto industry for even longer than expected. The FCA CEO suggested last year that he would retire from the automaker when its current five-year plan was complete in 2018. Now, he has tentatively extended that point out to at least 2020. "I can do this for another five years if you push me, right? Beyond that, I ain't gonna do it, and I don't want to," he said to Automotive News. That would give Marchionne a 16-year career at the top from joining Fiat in 2004 to possibly leaving FCA in 2020. Although, take the CEO's statement with a grain of salt because he has made multiple statements about the timing for his retirement. In 2012, Marchionne said he would only remain in charge until 2015, which is, well, now. Those five years might also go quite quickly because Marchionne is a busy guy with the Ferrari IPO, the attempted merger with General Motors, implementing FCA's five-year plan, and many other projects. He's already considering the next CEO, though. "My purpose in life is to find the Kuniskises of the world, the Manleys, the Biglands, the Palmers," Marchionne said to Automotive News, referencing the heads at Dodge, Jeep, FCA North America, and the company's chief financial officer, respectively. "I told them, 'One of you is going to do what I do one day. I don't know who that is, but one of you is going to do it.'" Mopar showcases modified Jeeps in Dubai

Showing that FCA is serious about expanding its global reach, Jeep and Mopar have rolled in to the Dubai Motor Show this year with three modified off-roaders. One is based on the Cherokee, and the other two are wrought from the Wrangler. But it's the Cherokee that's getting the lion's share of attention. The vehicle you see pictured here is called the Jeep Cherokee KrawLer. It's based on the Trailhawk, but adopts some special equipment to set it apart. It packs a modified suspension, BFGoodrich off-road tires, widened fenders, skid plates, a pseudo-military matte green paint job and a matching green leather interior from Pelle Frau. Power comes from the 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 driving 272 horsepower through a nine-speed automatic and locking rear differential to all four wheels. The name KrawLer emphasizes the KL code by which the current Cherokee is known. Alongside the Cherokee KrawLer, Mopar and Jeep are also showcasing a pair of modified Wranglers. One is the Sahara Sun Runner, done up in matte yellow with a four-inch lift kit and half-doors. The Wranger Dark Side, meanwhile, is based on a two-door Rubicon and features giant tires, flat fenders, and an array of other Mopar components. Alongside those, Jeep is showcasing the Renegade for the first time in the Middle East. Meanwhile, Mopar is also demonstrating its enhancements for the Chrysler 200, Dodge Charger R/T, Dodge Challenger Hellcat, Ram Rebel, Fiat 500X, and the new Fullback pickup from Fiat Professional. I got a text message from Editor-In-Chief Sharon Carty one afternoon proclaiming that her new favorite SUV is our long-term 2014 Jeep Cherokee. And she's not alone. I'm not sure if anyone else on staff would go so far as to use the "favorite" descriptor, but after just over a month of honeymooning with our new long-termer, it's safe to say that the Jeep is quickly finding its way into the good graces of a number of Autoblog staffers.
There's good reason for all that praise, too. Thus far, the Jeep has proven itself to be incredibly competent and comfortable for daily life - it's functional, quiet, and packed with a host of amenities that make it easy to live with. It's been wholly trouble-free (with less than 4,000 miles on the clock as of this writing, it ought to be), but even nitpicks have been few and far between.
