I am the original owner of this Jeep SRT8 Grand Cherokee.  I typically buy new model vehicles before they are out and sell after two years and look again for the latest and greatest.  The same is true with this SRT8.  I ordered the car from the dealer days after it was released.  It was produced with my name on the production order  I had professionals tint the windows, painted most of the chrome black, custom paint the hood and the inserts, and install the Borla exhaust and hardwired radar detector.  I could not stand all of the chrome from the factory and wanted the truck to look "a touch" unique.  Specifically, the chrome faccia on the back and on the edges of the grill were an eye sore so they were painted black.  They since removed this on the newest SRT8 models, so the SRT team looks as if they agree.  Additionally, the hood having a unique shape was custom painted by an artist to show its form, but in a subtle way.  The custom hood can hardly be seen from 15 feet away, but, when close up, or in the right light (day or night), its beauty.

As for the performance, if you are interested in this truck, you already know that its approx 470 hp, 6.4L V8 naturally aspirated.  For more performance details, have a look at the jeep website.  Its still the same engine.  Brembo Brakes.   The Borla exhaust was installed to let the natural notes come out.   The Borla installed was type S, the less aggressive version.  Quiet when you want it and loud when you want it.  No drone.  The transmission is key to this car in my opinion.  The new SRT8 has 8 gears.  This has 5.  In my opinion, the exhaust sound better using 5 gears, and honestly the shifts are more like a manual trans.

I have 2 extra rims (6 in total) in so-so condition.  I am willing to get them repainted at my cost with a mutually beneficial sale.  One of those tires could be used as a full size spare, although I opted not to keep the extra weight in the truck.   All 4 tires are brand new worth $2000.  New brake pads and rotors (genuine Brembo) were installed 2 months ago.  FYI 34,533 miles as of today.  This is my daily ride.

Oil has been changed every 3,000 with Mobil1 full synthetic 0W40.  Twice I put Castrol full synthetic because Mobil 1 0W40 wasn't available.  I order the oil from people I trust and only will allow oils change shop to use their oil if they crack open sealed containers in front of me.  Too many shops don't always use what they charge you for.  I am a 37 year old professional and have not beat on the truck.  No traffic accidents, no engine mods, no drag racing....   I just truly love high performance.

I am upgrading to a new vehicle. So...  here we are.   Email or message me through ebay... I will reply.

Jeep Renegade sales being held due to powertrain issue [UPDATE]

Wed, May 20 2015

UPDATE: An unnamed FCA US source has clarified to Automotive News that while there is a software issue, it does not concern the transmission. The Jeep Renegade appears to be facing early software problems that are similar to the ones at the introduction of the Cherokee a few years ago. The issue is keeping the brand's latest compact crossover away from dealers until the situation can be resolved. The fault reportedly deals with the software controlling the Renegade's nine-speed automatic transmission. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne briefly talked about what was happening in an interview with Automotive News. "I'm having a very bad engineering day," he said. "It's a combination of attributes of that vehicle that is making my life horrible." The company boss predicted at the longest it could take until mid-June to fix things. Through April, Jeep has sold 5,157 Renegades, including 4,214 of them in that month alone. Autoblog reached out to an FCA US spokesperson to learn more about the software problem, but the company had no comment. Getting the software right to control the nine-speed automatic plagued development of the Cherokee. The issues delayed the model's launch in 2013, and the company was still releasing improvements for some vehicles this year.

GMC wants to target Jeep with compact crossover

Mon, Dec 14 2015

GMC execs might consider adding a Jeep competitor to the range, but rather than new rumors of a Wrangler-fighter, this time the Professional Grade brand could go after the Renegade. Division boss Duncan Aldred would like to broaden the brand's lineup with a subcompact crossover. "I keep telling everyone, 'How can General Motors' truck brand not be in the fastest-growing segment in the industry, an SUV segment," he said to Automotive News but wouldn't confirm whether the model was under development. General Motors already offers small crossovers like the Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore, but the CUV segment in general continues to drive auto sales in the US. Adding a similarly sized GMC to the mix might increase the automaker's volume by appealing to different customers. "A GMC buyer is very different from a Buick buyer. This is like comparing the Fiat 500X to the Jeep Renegade. They are very similar but appeal to different people," Dave Sullivan, Product Analysis Manager at AutoPacific, told Autoblog. Aldred started the speculation about a Wrangler-fighting model in an interview in late 2014, and the company reportedly even raised the idea of an offroad-focused vehicle to dealers to see how they reacted. The development process was only in the very early planning stages, but the brand considered using Hummer for a little of the new product's inspiration. Aldred later suggested to journalists the possibility of adding a compact or midsize SUV to the GMC range in the next 10 years to appeal to more buyers. He didn't comment directly on the possibility of the Wrangler-challenger at the time beyond saying: "I can't confirm that ... everything's on the table." Related Video:

NHTSA investigating why Jeep recall fix is taking so long

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

Jeep's saga with the National Traffic Safety Administration and the voluntary campaign to repair 1.56 million vehicles for allegedly unsafe trailer hitches, is getting yet another chapter. The controversy appeared to finally be over in January when the automaker found a supplier for the replacement parts. Nothing is ever that easy, though, and the government regulator is now requesting documents from the company to clarify why the repairs are taking so long to begin.
Jeep parent company Chrysler has until July 16 to submit documents and answers to NHTSA explaining the situation. The regulator claims that despite its compromise to inspect and repair the models with improper hitches in June 2013, Chrysler didn't find a part supplier until December and didn't order the replacements until January. The government agency believes that the first components weren't manufactured until May of this year and vehicles may not actually be repaired until as late as August. According to the report, if the Chrysler doesn't supply what NHTSA is asking for, the agency could "take additional appropriate action as warranted."
Throughout this entire process, Chrysler has asserted that the vehicles met the applicable crash test standards of the time, and it has kept NHTSA abreast of the repair activity. In a recently released statement it said that the regulator analyzed eight rear impact reconstruction tests and found the replacement hitch to be safe. To keep up with the high demand for replacements, Chrysler is working with multiple suppliers, and they are running three shifts, six days a week to get the parts ready as soon as possible.
