You are bidding on my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee. We bought this car new in 2003. It has never been in an accident. From a maintenance standpoint it has always gotten everything it needed. Low mileage with roughly 8,500 miles a year. The paint shines like new. The front seats have had sheepskin covers on them since new and they look it. Rear tires have maybe 10,000 miles on them while the fronts will probably need to be replaced in 10-20,000. This vehicle went through a Delaware inspection last month. Delaware tests the emission system and does a brake test that measures braking force at each wheel. The Jeep passed with flying colors. If you are looking for a dependable vehicle that looks a lot younger than it's birthdate, this is it. 2014 Jeep Cherokee: Introduction
Tue, 27 May 2014When we look back at some of the more shocking product launches of recent yeras, the Jeep Cherokee is certainly high up on the list. And we aren't just talking about its off-the-wall, polarizing design.
For starters, it brought back the iconic Cherokee nameplate - something Jeep enthusiasts have coveted for ages. But beyond that, it brought a new evolution for the Jeep brand. After all, the Cherokee is car-based - using the same compact platform that underpins the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200. It has a greater focus on technology and refinement than ever before, in an effort to appeal to a new crop of Jeep customers. And powering it all is a new (optional) V6 engine paired with an equally new nine-speed automatic transmission.
Can the Cherokee's car-based roots still allow for a vehicle that's superb when the going gets tough? Will its design still be a love/hate affair in one year's time, or will it start to blend in? Jeep Wrangler likely to get aluminum body, will stay in Toledo
Mon, 27 Oct 2014Perhaps more than any other vehicle currently for sale in the United States, the Jeep Wrangler is viewed by purist fans as a vehicle that simply must maintain the status quo. In this case, that means a body-on-frame design, solid axles, a relatively large engine sitting up front and a removable top. It's always been that way, and it always will be.
Maybe.
According to the most recent reports, the next-generation Jeep will continue to soldier forth with a full steel chassis underneath its stamped bodywork. The biggest change, reports Automotive News, will be that said panels will be hewn from aluminum instead of steel, a seismic shift of a transition not unlike what's happened with the new Ford F-150. Because it won't be a unibody, the SUV will likely continue to be assembled in Toledo, OH as it (almost) always has been - the latter has been a source of heartburn in recent weeks for the Northwestern city in the Buckeye State.
