You are bidding on a sharp looking 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 in Graphite Metallic.  This very desirable Jeep has every possible option, including the High Output V8, Quadra Drive, Tow Package, Sunroof, Navigation, Rain sensing wipers, Power adjustable pedals, side curtain airbags, and Tire Pressure Monitors.

I will try to be as thorough as possible, but please ask any questions you may have.  I purchased this Jeep pre-owned from Faulkner Mazda in Harrisburg 4 years ago.  It has been invaluable in inclement weather, very well cared for, and still receives compliments on how great it looks.  I hate to see it go, but will be purchasing a new vehicle at the end of the month.

Mechanical:  The engine idles smoothly, runs well, and was serviced at the dealership on 3/12.  The starter motor was replaced 11/12 along with a new Mopar battery.  The oil has been replaced with synthetic oil every 5000 miles I've owned it.  The transmission shifts through all gears and overdrive smoothly.  Transfer case in 4WD All Time sends power between front and back wheels as needed, 4WD Low engages and works.  The heat and A/C are both functioning, however the A/C could use a recharge.  Steering feel is tight, has no wheel wobble, and is power assisted.  The steering stabilizer was replaced 12/11.  Brakes engage smoothly and ABS is functioning properly.  The front calipers and pads were replaced 3/13.  The suspension has not been modified, but it does have the factory Up Country lift.  Exhaust had been upgraded by the previous owner with a Gibson system, sounds great, and has passed Pennsylvania Emissions Controls.  The Jeep also passed Pennsylvania State inspection and is valid until 8/15.  The cooling system is functioning, but when going uphill or during long periods at highway speeds the temperature gauge climbs past 210 degrees.  Although the coolant temperature remains within the normal operating range, it should not be fluctuating.  I was quoted $590 parts and labor to replace the radiator but this has NOT been repaired.  The Jeep should probably be trailered or towed if you're planning to pick it up from a long distance away.

Exterior:  The paint still shines and has been professionally detailed every year I've owned it.  There are no faded body panels.  There are a couple rust spots developing on the driver side front fender and lower rock rails.  There is also rust coming through the paint below the rear passenger side door (see pictures).  There is a small scratch above the passenger side wheelwell and another on the rear quarter panel near the tail light, a ding above the Jeep badge on the liftgate, and two small scuffs on the rear bumper.  The front driver and passenger windows have been professionally tinted and there are no cracks or scratches on any windows.  The chrome Jeep wheels still shine but do show some signs of corrosion.  On 5/12 a 4 wheel alignment and upgraded Goodyear Duratrac 245/70 R17 were installed.  The tires have less than 10k miles on them, and were rotated at 5k.  The Jeep was hit at low speed by another vehicle on driver side front fender.  Nothing mechanical was damaged, only cosmetic.  I have the incident report, insurance write-up, and final invoice for repair by Glass & Sons Collision in Reading, PA.  The universal roof rack cross rails pictured will be included in the sale.

Interior:  The leather seats still look great, but the suede does show some wear.  The leather on the steering wheel is still tight and looking good.  There are no cracks on the dashboard, but there is a small crack in the wood grain trim on the passenger side, and the plastic trim around the shifter is curled.  The Jeep has never been smoked in and has no odors.  The headliner is still tight and shows no signs of leaks or damage.  The carpet is in great condition and the carpeted floor mats will be included in the sale along with the owners manual, 2 sets of keys, and 2 remote fobs.

Electrical:  All power windows, door locks, sunroof, adjustable pedals, and mirror motors are all functioning.  The power front driver and passenger seats are both fully power adjustable, including the lumbar support and driver memory settings.  The heated seats also work great and heat up fast.  The steering wheel mounted controls for the cruise control and audio system are all functioning.  The audio system still sounds great, with no blown speakers.  The navigation system still functions and the map DVD will be included in the sale.  The system can also play AM / FM / single CD / or an Aux device.  The 10 disc CD Changer in the truck does still work, but has been rewired to allow for the Aux jack instead.  All interior, exterior, and dashboard lights are functioning, as well as the automatic headlights.  The wipers all work including the rain-sensing feature for the front wipers.  The automatic climate control is in good working order and the blend doors function properly. The overhead console includes functioning HomeLink transmitter, trip computer, compass, temperature, and tire pressure monitor system.  The TPMS reads "Service Tire Pressure System" when the jeep is started, but once on the move the error goes away and all tire pressures read correctly.  The Tire pressure sensor re-learn magnet along with the full size spare tire and wheel will be included in the sale.

UPDATE:  I took the Jeep to another mechanic for a second opinion on the coolant temperature issue.  He used a heat gun and verfied the radiator is still in good working order and determined the water pump was bad.  This has been replaced and the Jeep now maintains the correct coolant temperature, around 195-200 degress.  I took the Jeep out on the Interstate for a 30 mile drive today and confirmed the issue is resolved!

On Sep-24-14 at 20:09:55 PDT, seller added the following information:

UPDATE:  The Jeep was at the dealership today to have all recalls addressed as well as a multi-point inspection.  This Jeep is ready for it's new owner!

FCA inline-six rumored to be real, headed for Jeep Wagoneer

Thu, Dec 20 2018

In September, Allpar reported that that clues being dropped at Fiat- Chrysler headquarters, in the carmaker's factories, and on engineer resumes pointed to the development of an inline six-cylinder engine. The site has just proclaimed the rumor is reality, writing that the straight-six, "turbocharged to meet or beat 5.7 Hemi power ratings, with a smoother torque curve, is on the way." The motor's first outing is expected to be either the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, debuting perhaps next year, or the Jeep Wagoneer, debuting in 2020 or 2021. "Tornado" is the purported codename for the power plant said to be just under three liters in displacement, expanding the family begun with the Global Medium Engine 2.0-liter turbo codenamed Hurricane. Engine bay constraints and a long use horizon mean engineers won't simply add two more cylinders to the GME, however. Allpar says the brief is to keep the Tornado GME-T6 — the alphanumeric for "turbocharged six" — no more than three inches longer than the Tigershark 2.4-liter four-cylinder. That means "major design changes" that could include a space-saving head, more closely spaced cylinders, and no cylinder liners. An FCA division called Comau could be called on for its "SmartSpray" plasma lining technology. Allpar muses that the standard version of the engine for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram could get a single twin-scroll turbocharger. Performance trims for Alfa Romeo and Maserati could get different heads and maybe twin turbos, an SRT version might also get both those tweaks. History shows that the Italian versions would make changes to the block, as well. Even so, the Tornado would be less expensive than any Ferrari-supplied V6. A straight-six would put FCA in company with current adopters BMW and Mercedes-Benz, future users like Jaguar, and perhaps Aston Martin. The engine would span the widest range of use cases in the U.S. carmaker's portfolio, though. Potential applications include being a base engine for Ram trucks, serving double duty as a base engine and 5.7-liter Hemi replacement for the Dodge Charger and Challenger, working in the high-end Jeeps, and as a properly hot trim — with Ferrari-designed heads — in the luxury Italian sports cars. The Alfa Romeo Giulia begs for just such motivation to fill the gap between the 280-hp, $42,695 Ti Sport RWD and the 505-hp, $73,700 Giulia Quadrifoglio RWD. And a twin-turbo inline-six in a Maserati Alfieri would stack up nicely with the Germans.

Woman throws coffee at man over handicapped parking spot

Thu, Mar 24 2016

A Toronto area busybody started a decidedly un-Canadian altercation over a woman illegally parking in a handicapped parking spot this week. He now regrets his decision to film it. On March 21, Ryan Favro confronted a young woman outside the Tim Hortons in Toronto as she approached her jeep with two cups of iced coffee. The situation quickly escalated, and ended with the woman hurling obscenities and both of her coffees at Favro before driving off. Favro quickly uploaded his video to Facebook where it quickly became viral, garnering more than a million views and spreading as far as New Zealand. Toronto Police caught wind of the video, which clearly shows the woman's face and the license plates of her Jeep, and issued her a warning. "We've cautioned her for assault and parking in a disabled spot, which is really what we can do under the circumstances," said Toronto Police spokesman Mark Pugash. Favro changed his mind about the public shaming by mid-week and, in a futile attempt to put the genie back in the bottle, he removed the video from his Facebook page. "I don't want to grind this woman into the ground," he said. "There has to be a way for her to recover." His attempt to walk back his video and make the situation go away have not been particularly successful, however. Although he took the original video down, it has been copied and posted so often by now that it has become impossible to completely erase it. His attempts to do so, and his post about it on Facebook, have received some mixed feedback. "If the guy was feeling remorse for publishing it [the video], perhaps he should not have posted it online and just go to police," said Facebook user Laura Dixon. Repeated requests by the Toronto Star to interview Favro have gone unanswered News Source: TheStar.com Chrysler Jeep SUV Off-Road Vehicles Videos parking toronto coffee parking lot handicapped parking

How to update and secure a vulnerable Chrysler Uconnect system

Sat, Jul 25 2015

If you own one of the 1.4 million vehicles affected by the recent Chrysler software recall, you may want to watch this video. In it, we explain how to get the latest infotainment software loaded onto the 8.4-inch Uconnect system. The recall was a response to the findings of researchers who were able to hack into and remotely control a 2014 Jeep Cherokee through its cellular connection. Although Fiat Chrysler has worked with Sprint to plug most of the holes on the carrier side, there are still some vulnerabilities that only this latest software version can patch. Owners have three options to get the update: download it now, wait for a USB stick in the mail, or take the vehicle to an FCA dealer. Chrysler will be sending USB sticks loaded with the software update to customers. Anyone with an internet connection and a USB stick of their own with at least 4 GB capacity can speed things up by downloading the patch from the Uconnect website. We cover that process from start to finish in the video, with the final portion still applicable to those using the FCA-supplied USB stick. If after watching this you still don't want to tackle the patch yourself, you can take your vehicle to the dealer to have it done. Also note that this process is the same for all Uconnect updates, not just the one patching the exploits. Our demonstrator vehicle is a 2015 Ram 1500 pickup. The procedure should be very similar on other products with the 8.4-inch Uconnect system, with only the location of the USB port varying. Once you have the USB stick with the software on it – either after having downloaded it yourself or receiving it in the mail from Chrysler – the installation process is relatively simple. It takes about 15 minutes to perform the update; we edited out the wait in the video. To check whether or not your car's 8.4-inch Uconnect system is running the latest software, go to System Information on the touch screen's Settings page and look at Software Version. The update related to the recall is version 15.17.5. Related Video: Recalls Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Safety Technology Infotainment Videos Original Video hacking
