This Commando is in fair shape for a 45 year old Jeep.  The vehicle has original odometer reading of 59,000 miles.  The Buick Dauntless V6 runs strong and just had the carb rebuilt.  It is orginal as is all other major mechanical components.  Custom clutch job was done approx four years ago to enable nice easy depression of pedal, not the usual stiff cluth found in these things.  I have owned this for 10 years and only drove it in the summer time while on vacation at the beach.  4X4 works perfectly and it comes with soft top installed by me and the original hard top too.  Front seats are ripped and have seat covers over them.  Back seat is original perfect condition.  Windows roll up and down easily, door handles/locks all function properly.  3 Speed tranny in great shape, new straight pipe dual exhaust makes the truck a little loud but nothing a couple of mufflers wouldn't quiet right down.

This Jeep is a good restoration candidate and can be seen in Wrentham,  Massachusetts.  Buyer is responsible for pick up as I live in Alexandria VA and will not be able to assist with shipping.

This vehicle is sold as is with no warranty implied or otherwise and sale is final.  Payment of $500 dollar deposit upon winning auction.  Vehicle pickup and full balance payment due within 14 days of auction end.

Jeep Wrangler diesel likely after 2015 model refresh

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

We automotive journalists aren't always the right people to ask about whether a US-spec vehicle should or should not be offered with a diesel powertrain (hint: the answer is usually "YES"). But when it comes to the iconic, off-road-ready Jeep Wrangler, we aren't the only ones who have been clamoring for an oil-burning engine behind that famous seven-slat grille. To that end, it appears there's good news on the horizon, as Jeep CEO Mike Manley recently told Ward's Auto that the "Wrangler is on the radar to get (a) diesel."
"I'm confident that the Grand Cherokee will show just how large a demand there is for diesel, and I think what that will do is reinforce the need for us to target Wrangler as a vehicle that can take a diesel," Manley told Ward's. The most rugged of Jeeps is scheduled to get an overhaul around 2015-16, and the diesel powertrain will likely be introduced around that time.
This year alone, Chrysler will be adding a diesel engine to the Grand Cherokee SUV, as well as the Ram 1500 pickup and Promaster utility van.

Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay

Sat, 23 Mar 2013

A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.

Fiat-based baby Jeep spotted testing in US and Europe

Thu, 03 Oct 2013

Details remain scarce, but our spy photographers have managed to capture the upcoming Jeep B-segment crossover for the first time, testing in both the Alps and in the US. Shown here as a cobbled-together Fiat 500L mule, the new Jeep model is expected to arrive for the 2015 model year and act as a replacement for the current Compass and Patriot models.
According to our shooter, the new "baby Jeep" will share a platform with the Fiat 500X, and both models will be built on the same assembly line in Turin, Italy. We can't tell much from these images, but the added length apparent on this 500L mule would seem to dispel the recent speculation that the new entry-level Jeep model would be sized closer to the Ford Fiesta - since the 500L is already considerably larger than the Fiesta. Powertrain options will likely mirror other Fiat/Chrysler collaborative vehicles like the Dodge Dart, but this Jeep will also try to live up to its off-road roots with an optional all-wheel-drive system.
