Hi,
For your consideration is my beloved 67 Jeepster Convertible.  I bought this about 10 years ago from an old man in Southern California who owned it since the early 80's and drove it on occasion and always garage kept it.  I have also kept it in the garage.  I've recently sold a property that had a large garage and now must sell a few vehicles as I don't have garage space for all of them.  Consequently, the reserve for my classic Jeepster has to be very reasonable to ensure it will sell.  Bid to own this one.  It pains me to sell after all these years, but it needs to have a continued garage spot. This model is extremely rare, with total production numbers around 2,300.  This one is the cleanest, rust free example you will ever find, it has just over 100,000 original miles. There is no rust issue, anywhere.  Ask for a pic of any area you want to see.  Only clean factory metal with no rust in the seams, floors.. anywhere.  It had most of its original paint on it when I bought it, there has been no collision damage ever.  I have an additional 67 8701 Jeepster that I will include in the sell, if the bidding goes over $14K.  I will describe it a little more at the end of the ad.  Onto the details of this amazing Jeepster find.

BODY/PAINT:

Again, no rust issues anywhere.  It is extremely strait.  It spent its life in the city, so it wasn't coming into contact with rocks, trees, etc.  The only body damage it had before it was repainted was where the hood had blown up at some point.  This was repaired, but not as well as I hoped for.  The paint job was a complete repaint, all jambs, floors and body panels were painted.  It is a $3,000 "driver quality" paint job in the factory yellow.. It is not a show quality job.  Looks great, and gets compliments non-stop.  Most all of the weather stripping and window/door rubber has been replaced.  I can't think of any that hasn't been.  Doors open and close well, drivers door takes a little more effort.  Windows roll up and down (including the rears). All locks work with the one original key, including the glove box.  Body trim is present and in good original condition.  Top was replaced at the time of repaint (4-5 years ago) and is high quality top with the double layer and glass rear window.  Top goes up and down easily.  It is a manual top.  Underside is as clean as you could ever hope to find.

INTERIOR:

Interior has been completely redone as close to factory as possible.  I have an old original brochure showing the interior, I let the upholsterer use this as a map/reference, counting the pleats etc.  The passenger seat seems a little tweaked back, not sure why.  Also, there is a small burn mark on the outer bolster of the passenger seat, this happened from a window that somehow focused light like a magnifying glass onto the seat while I was cleaning it one day!  Carpet kit is custom and looks good, but it's not perfect.  Dash has been recovered.  New glove box.  Door panels were fabricated to match originals and look great.  I have the drivers door pull.  I also have a pair of aftermarket rear fiberglass surrounds that are included, they need some work though.  All lights and gauges work.  Stereo face was broken and unit has since been removed.  Only has non-functioning original stereo.  I would add a vinyl shift boot around the shifter and a convertible top boot would be a nice finishing tough.

MECHANICAL:

This Jeepster is set up well.  It has the 231 Buick V6 that was rebuilt years ago.  It runs strong and is powerful.  It has a Edelbrock intake and 4 barrel carburetor, starts right up hot or cold. The motor has been fitted with a pointless HEI distributor.  I have installed a new water pump, alternator, belts, had the radiator rodded/cleaned and other recent service/tuneup work in the last year.  The motor does not smoke, but does seem to use a little oil.  Never runs hot.  It has headers and dual exhaust.  It is healthy and pulls strong up the hills.  Clutch tends to shutter a little if you don't know the technique.  It has been this way since I have owned it and I have no trouble driving without any shutter.  No slippage and engagement is good.   Transmission is a Muncie 4 speed.  The old man said it was new when he put it in the Jeep.  It shifts well and will cruise at 75mph no problem. The shifter comes thru the floor off the side a little and is as close to being in the way as possible without actually being a problem. It has a Warn overdrive unit installed that was working well when I bought it.  It stopped working about 5 years ago.  3 years ago, I had Advanced 4wheel drive ( a local shop) try to fix it.  I also had them do a major brake upgrade.  It has disc brakes in the front ( I think its a Dana 30 axle) with a large power booster and large master cylinder.  The brakes work better on this Jeep than any I have ever used on any Jeep.  The previous owner did a steering box upgrade.  The factory Ross steering boxes on these models were notorious for being incredibly sloppy and difficult to work on.  It has a full size Jeep (wagoneer) steering box with power steering added.  The turning radius seems a little short, but this makes the Jeep a pleasure to drive, and the brake upgrade make it safe.  It had A/C installed when I bought it, I removed all the components but it will provide the new owner with them.  The Jeep seems to leak a little oil from the underside area.  I had the shop re-seal the transfercase and overdrive unit, this helped a lot, but I think the transmission adapter plate may be the area of some of the leaks.  I top it off or change it every spring and don't worry about it.. If you plan to park this on your nice driveway, you will need a mat or want to look into sealing it up better.  Electrical system is all operational.  Fan blows, but does not blow hot. It has a professionally installed receiver and light hook up.  Jeepster has a 3" lift obtained by re-arching and adding an additional leaf.  Tires are 30" BFG AT's with plenty of tread and no dry rotting.  Has a very nice stance.

ADDITIONAL JEEPSTER!

Thats right, I have an additional parts Jeepster or builder.  It is a factory red 8701 model that has been fitted with a V8 years ago.  I was told it was a one owner Jeep and that the old man who owned this one, was stripping it down to restore, he fail ill and died before completing.  It hasn't been touched since the 80's.  The good.  It has an incredibly strait body with no body rust.  The floors appear to have been professionally redone in the front and original in the back.  All chrome pieces, including both bumpers and all window frames were re-chromed years ago, but never used.   All chrome pieces still look great.  It appears to be mostly complete, but is missing the fiberglass rear finisher and most of the side trim pieces.  I wanted to build a V8 half cab deluxe with it.  It does not currently have a title, but I have started the process of obtaining one and should be able to supply new owner with one.  Please ask for more details.  THIS PARTS OR BUILDER JEEP COMES WITH THE JEEPSTER, IF THE BIDDING GOES OVER $14k.  BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY TO ARRANGE AND PAY FOR ALL SHIPPING.

SUMMARY:

You can't find a cleaner chassis Jeep with no previous collision damage.  This one is an amazing find with upgrades that were methodically executed.  This makes for a much nice and enjoyable ride.. Much safer and reliable too.  I have driven it less than 10 thousand miles in 10 years, but would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.  I drove it home from Southern California when I bought it.  Tough to find one this clean with practical upgrades.

Poor headlights cause 40 cars to miss IIHS Top Safety Pick rating

Mon, Aug 6 2018

Over the past few months, we've noticed a number of cars and SUVs that have come incredibly close to earning one of the IIHS's highest accolades, the Top Safety Pick rating. They have great crash test scores and solid automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. What trips them up is headlights. That got us wondering, how many vehicles are there that are coming up short because they don't have headlights that meet the organization's criteria for an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating. This is a revision made after 2017, a year in which headlights weren't factored in for this specific award. This is also why why some vehicles, such as the Ford F-150, might have had the award last year, but have lost it for this year. We reached out to someone at IIHS to find out. He responded with the following car models. Depending on how you count, a whopping 40 models crash well enough to receive the rating, but don't get it because their headlights are either "Poor" or "Marginal." We say depending on how you count because the IIHS actual counts truck body styles differently, and the Infiniti Q70 is a special case. Apparently the version of the Q70 that has good headlights doesn't have adequate forward collision prevention technology. And the one that has good forward collision tech doesn't have good enough headlights. We've provided the entire list of vehicles below in alphabetical order. Interestingly, it seems the Volkswagen Group is having the most difficulty providing good headlights with its otherwise safe cars. It had the most models on the list at 9 split between Audi and Volkswagen. GM is next in line with 7 models. It is worth noting again that though these vehicles have subpar headlights and don't quite earn Top Safety Pick awards, that doesn't mean they're unsafe. They all score well enough in crash testing and forward collision prevention that they would get the coveted award if the lights were better.

2014 Jeep Cherokee facing production delay

Fri, 17 May 2013

Jeep's bold-faced new direction spearheaded by the 2014 Cherokee is facing some teething issues. According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, production start-up of the controversial new utility vehicle at its Toledo North facility is running about a month behind schedule "due to a wide range of issues." That's according to Mark Chernoby, senior vice president of engineering at Chrysler.
Chernoby maintains that the issues being encountered aren't unusual for the launch of a new vehicle - particularly one with a new powertrain - and he downplayed the delay, telling Jeep dealers that they "will have ample inventory of the midsize SUV by fall." Among the kinks being worked out? Calibrating the Cherokee's cutting-edge ZF nine-speed automatic transmission and refining assembly line tasks to make the process more efficient.
Chrysler expects to start building retail-ready versions of the Cherokee around mid-June, with official sales slated to start in September.

2014 Jeep Cherokee gets official in a hurry

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

Automakers work very, very hard to keep their new vehicles under wraps until they can present them in exactly the way they want it - typically choreographed under the bright lights of an auto show, or perhaps with photos or video in an idyllic location. Spy shooters and leaks, in other words, keep executives and public-relations types up at night.
This is likely to be one of the most polarizing designs to come out in 2014.
Take today, for instance, when the team over at Jalopnik got a big scoop - the first undisguised shots of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, a model whose name wasn't even officially confirmed yet. The clandestine images taken inside of a factory were blurry and didn't exactly show off the crossover's radical new contours in the same sort of flattering light that Jeep probably would've wished for its product reveal. So the Auburn Hills automaker has wisely reacted by spilling at least some of the beans on the new model, giving us these four photos and confirming the Liberty replacement's name, Cherokee.
