Question now is... What is this truck worth as a well maintained, very nice original condition vehicle with 150,000 less miles than assumed in the above NADA valuation? $200 per 10K?
I am the registered owner of this 1989 Jeep Comanche pick up truck find it to be in very good condition compared to any of these Jeep trucks I have seen locally. I has only 090,300 original miles on it. This truck is an excelent candidate for minimal restoration or for reliable no cost of ownership transportation! There is no way to flip the odometer on a 6 digit odometer! The first of 6 digits still reads 0!
This vehicle has a Clean Autocheck and CarFax - it has never been wrecked or abused or used for comercial use! Oil changes every 3K. From my understanding this vehicle was tied up in an estate for a while and is why mileage is as low as it is... It appears to have had very little exposure to the winter elements with minimal rust on the surface of original factory paint, in pretty nice overall condition, especially for the year... To keep price low any rust found has been treated to stop rust and truck retains pretty nice overall original factory paint. The stick on graphics are not perfect and are original factory applied!
I recently took a 500 mile trip and got great gas mileage (about 25MPG) and had no issuesr! Truck has never fails to start for me but likes a minute to warm up when cold. This truck is too nice for me to just make it an all out work truck. I store it inside my garage unless I am using it. I know it is potentially collectible and is considered rare. The value is increasing now and I can't think of a better why to keep down the cost of ownership of a vehicle! Needless to say I only drive classic cars today for that reason. Maybe you also have come to realize the losses you incur in newer car ownership!
I see these trucks with over 300K miles so I expect it to run another 150K+ Original Jeep Stereo w cassette is still intact and works good! Windows go up and down, doors hang correct. Interior needs very little. Seats are grey with a rip in pasenger side. I'd just get covers myself! Carpet is still pretty nice!
Mechanical: New brake system - rotors, pads, lines and hoses to front and drums, shoes hardware and hoses to rear
Suspension and steering - all been redone in last 20K miles with new springs, shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends and all topped off with a professional alignment...
Exhaust redone as cat delete!
Tires Like new BF Goodrich Radials.
Your Vehicle Checks Out! Jeep marks 75th anniversary in Detroit with special editions
Tue, Jan 12 2016It's been 75 years since the Jeep brand was founded. To celebrate the occasion, the sport-ute manufacturer has rolled out an array of six special editions – one for each model in its lineup. And they've each marked their debut here in Detroit. The 75th Anniversary Editions of the Wrangler, Renegade, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Compass, and Patriot are all decked out in green – though the exact shade differs between models, and they can be ordered in different colors for those who prefer. Either way, the bodywork is offset by bronze trim, mesh fabric interiors, and all the special-edition badges you could ask for. And in true Jeep style, they all offer some degree of open-airedness, even if that just means a sunroof. Of course, bringing back the Wrangler pickup and Grand Wagoneer – both of which are planned for this milestone year – would be agreeable as well, as would a Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee SRT. But for now these special editions strike us as suitable a way as any to celebrate three quarters of a century of rock-crawling. Check 'em out in the gallery above of live images from the floor of the Detroit Auto Show for a closer look before they reach dealers in the first quarter of this year. THE JEEP® BRAND CELEBRATES 75 YEARS OF LEGENDARY HISTORY WITH FULL LINEUP OF NEW SPECIAL-EDITION MODELS - New 75th Anniversary models available across entire Jeep® lineup - Special-edition vehicles feature unique available Jeep Green exterior, Satin Bronze wheels, Bronze and Orange exterior accents, unique interiors, open-air freedom and 75th Anniversary badging - Available in Jeep dealer showrooms first quarter 2016 January 6, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Born in 1941, the Jeep® brand celebrates 75 years of 4x4 leadership, military history, and open-air freedom and adventure in 2016. As a tribute to this diamond anniversary celebration, Jeep is creating distinctive, 75th Anniversary special-edition models of each vehicle in its lineup. "Jeep vehicles have defined the authentic SUV and set the benchmark for off-road capability and freedom since they were first produced in 1941," said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global. "Today, Jeep SUVs continue to deliver 4x4 leadership, as well as fuel efficiency, world-class craftsmanship and premium on-road dynamics.
Jeep Wrangler Polar is a tasty frozen treat
Wed, 11 Sep 2013Perhaps it's because we've seen so many kitted-out examples over the years, but it seems to us that the Jeep Wrangler tends to wear its special-edition duds better than most models. It might be the icon's familiar rectilinear proportions or the inherent bolt-on look of its extremities - bumpers, mirrors, lighting, and step rails - but we've seen precious few factory specials that look anything but excellent.
Case in point: this new Jeep Wrangler Polar unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This European-market limited-edition model is said to be a celebration of winter driving, which evidently works out to a body-color hardtop, black-accent seven-slot grille, 18-inch gloss black wheels, Trac-Lok limited-slip differential and a hard hat for the spare tire. Finished here in Hydro Blue (Billet Silver Metallic and Bright White are also available) and a black interior with Polar White accents, the Polar edition features badges displaying 78° S and 106° E longitude and latitude coordinates for Vostok, Antarctica.
This new Jeep will be available in both standard and Unlimited formats with either the 3.6-liter Pentastar gas engine or the still-not-for-US 2.8-liter turbodiesel when it bows early next year. For further details, check out our gallery above and the press release below.
NHTSA investigating why Jeep recall fix is taking so long
Mon, 07 Jul 2014Jeep's saga with the National Traffic Safety Administration and the voluntary campaign to repair 1.56 million vehicles for allegedly unsafe trailer hitches, is getting yet another chapter. The controversy appeared to finally be over in January when the automaker found a supplier for the replacement parts. Nothing is ever that easy, though, and the government regulator is now requesting documents from the company to clarify why the repairs are taking so long to begin.
Jeep parent company Chrysler has until July 16 to submit documents and answers to NHTSA explaining the situation. The regulator claims that despite its compromise to inspect and repair the models with improper hitches in June 2013, Chrysler didn't find a part supplier until December and didn't order the replacements until January. The government agency believes that the first components weren't manufactured until May of this year and vehicles may not actually be repaired until as late as August. According to the report, if the Chrysler doesn't supply what NHTSA is asking for, the agency could "take additional appropriate action as warranted."
Throughout this entire process, Chrysler has asserted that the vehicles met the applicable crash test standards of the time, and it has kept NHTSA abreast of the repair activity. In a recently released statement it said that the regulator analyzed eight rear impact reconstruction tests and found the replacement hitch to be safe. To keep up with the high demand for replacements, Chrysler is working with multiple suppliers, and they are running three shifts, six days a week to get the parts ready as soon as possible.
