This is a very clean, well cared for Cherokee. I've owned a number of jeeps over the years, including several Cherokees and this is one of the nicest. It has the bomb-proof 4.0 straight 6, that will easily go 300,000 miles. The motor starts right up ever time and runs smooth and strong. The auto transmission shifts right on point, the 4x4 is strong and reliable. The brakes grab well and stop the vehicle smoothly and evenly without any pulling. The jeep tracks straight down the road. The exterior is in excellent condition, the interior is very clean, all the the exterior trim pieces look great with no fading or cracking. A/C blows cold, heat and defrost blows hot. All power options works. No rust or rot. This Cherokee has a completely new cooling system; new radiator, water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing, upper and lower radiator hoses, and send and return heater hoses. The heater core was flushed. New coolant, oil and filter change, new air filter, new front pads and rotors, new rear brakes, both front sway bar links are new, 4 new shocks, and 4 new cooper discover 30" tires with wheel locks. I can't emphasize how clean this Cherokee is. I have the original window sticker, owners manual, 3 keys, and a big stack of receipts. Clean Massachusetts title in hand. Jeep driver nearly gets washed away by fast moving river
Wed, May 11 2016Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. For example, you should never attempt to cross a fast-moving river in a bone stock Grand Cherokee no matter how shallow the river looks. Especially if you don't know what you're doing. A video posted recently to the Facebook group Jeep EXPERIENCE, shows an inexperienced jeep driver learning that lesson the hard way. This content is hosted by a third party. The video starts innocently enough, with a group of off-roaders watching one of their friends attempt to ford a shallow looking river. Things quickly go sideways however, when the driver of the silver Grand Cherokee just plunges right in and quickly gets in over his head. The river is moving faster than the driver thinks it is, the driver panics, makes some bad decisions, then the jeep is turned over and swept downstream. Eventually, the jeep is hauled out by a Land Rover after a long comedy of errors that involves one guy losing his trousers to the current and the Cherokee ingesting untold gallons of water. What went wrong here? Well, It's pretty obvious from the video that the Cherokee driver didn't have a clear idea of where he was going or about the condition of the riverbed. He chickened out halfway across the river, and in what appears to be a misguided attempt at turning back, he reverses, digs himself deeper in the riverbed, then turned broadside on into the current. When he changes his mind again and decides to just gun it for the opposite shore, he drives directly into a deep water hazard that would have been obvious to an experienced off-roader. At that point the jeep and the driver were doomed. Hopefully the driver learned a lesson here, and hopefully he didn't pollute that river too much with the jeep's fluids. China orders Jeep to investigate Wrangler fire risk
Mon, 06 Jan 2014It's been some time since we've heard anything about fires related to the Jeep Wrangler (foreign or domestic), but it sounds like the go-anywhere SUV could be in hot water once again in China. Bloomberg is reporting that the Chinese government is ordering Jeep to investigate the matter and, in the meantime, also recommending Wrangler owners to not drive their vehicles in "extreme conditions" due to a "relatively high risk" of catching on fire.
There is no indication as to how many vehicles or which model years are affected, but the previous fire problems in both the US and China - which led to investigations but no recalls - were traced back to automatic transmission fluid leaks. The article, however, does not say what the potential problem is this time around as Jeep has not released a comment on the matter. The official notice, in Chinese, can be found here.
