1998 Xj Jeep Rock Crawler Trail Rig Daily Driver Cherokee 2 Door $13k Invested on 2040-cars
Clarksville, Iowa, United States
This is a HIGHLY modified professionally built 2 door XJ Cherokee. This jeep has been on trails in Colorado, Minnesota, and many other advanced trail systems and will run right with the $25,000 buggys. It only has 154,000 original miles and runs like new. It has the bullet proof 4.0 inline six and the auto transmission and the best transfer case Jeep has, the NP231 with a SYE (slip yoke eliminator) kit.
This also comes with a brand new ON Board air system from Viair!!
This jeep was built by a professional 4x4 shop. It has everything you need to do whatever you want. When someone asks, "where do you drive this thing", you simply answer, "anywhere I want".This unit is being offered for much, much less than you can even BEGIN to build one. I have a list of original receipts from the professional 4x4 shop that did all the work, and it totals around $10,000!! (that's not even buying a good solid 2 door XJ which is a tough find in itself. I am selling this Jeep to purchase a small cabin that my whole family can enjoy. I just replaced the complete ARB pump and wiring yesterday. The old pump quit and the new one came with new wiring. I have pix of me testing it out going up some very steep ditches. I also just replaced the tie rod and drag link including all tie rod ends, with heavy duty replacements from the ZJ. Here's a list of some of the mods: Exterior 35"x12.50 17 BFGoodrich KM2 MT Mud Terrain tires x 5 (In great shape as you can see in the pix) (one wheel has a small dent that doesn't affect performance) Bushwacker Pocket flares ARB Snorkel kit JCR Offroad Winch Bumper JCR Offroad Tire Carrier Rock Krawler rear bumper JCR Offroad Gas Tank Skid Plate Rough Country 9500 winch with wireless remote control!! JCR Offtroad Rock Sliders Paint has trail wounds and scratches and a few dings and small dents. (see pix) It is not a show truck. This Jeep is for the trail... and let me tell you, IT TURNS HEADS GOING DOWN THE ROAD!!! Be ready to talk when you stop...anywhere there are people. :) Door pins are warn (common Jeep thing) Mechanical D30 front axle with a D44 rear (Both have Ruffstuff Differential covers) Disc brakes all the way around! 4.56 gears ARB Air Lockers front and rear Front and Rear CV driveshafts. (Unit comes with replacement driveshafts for trail emergencies) NP 231 Transfer Case with the SYE Kit (slip yoke eliminator) It does have an exhaust leak. Otherwise the exhaust is nice. Flowmaster Suspension A FREAK!!!! This unit has the Rough Country 6.5" Long Arm Suspension Kit with the adjustable control arms. It also has a HD skid plate. 1.75 coil spacers and blocks in the rear bring the total lift to over 8"! 3 link front with an upgraded steering stabilizer, track bar, etc... You won't find a more flexible XJ! It also has quick release front stabilizer pins with storage mounts to hand them out of the way. This makes it easy to switch from the trail to the road. In Colorado you have to drive several miles on the road to get to the next trail system at times. Interior Seats are in great shape with no flaws or stains. No smoking in it. Cruise even works! Air doesn't (who needs air...windows down in a Jeep) Rear carpet has some staining from trail usage (carrying spare driveshafts and jack etc. Has a fully charged fire extinguisher Headliner is like it should be (still up and clean) The carpet has been removed and sprayed with bedliner. The door handle on the drivers side inside needs replaced. ( you can still get in and out) No foul smells. actually smells good! overall this Jeep is a super option for the hardcore Jeep guy or the new to Jeep guy. It is ready to be a daily driver (20MPG on the hwy!), or it would be perfectly happy being a fully dedicated trail rig. Whatever your plan is for it, it will be ready! I have copies of all the receipts that were spent at the 4x4 shop. Over $10,000 worth in parts. You would be crazy to build one. It would cost you double what you can buy this one for. Once again, this is not going to win the local show and shine award, but I will promise you that you won't find a better head turner, and even more importantly, a rig that will go where this one will! I have the auction ending before the 4th of July! Buy it now and have it ready for the weekend!! Call 319-231-8974 or text with questions. The Jeep is located in Waverly, Ia. I will work with shippers, but won't set up the shipping. I collect a $750 deposit within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The Jeep must be paid within 7 days of the auction close or it will be re listed. No games. I'm sure if you have read this far, you can picture yourself riding through the trails in this beauty!!! Or the Hwy!! |

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalls nearly 750k vehicles in two campaigns
Thu, 16 Oct 2014Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling a total of 747,817 vehicles in the US in two separate campaigns recently added to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration database.
The first one covers about 434,581 units of the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Challenger, Durango, and Jeep Grand Cherokee from the 2011-2014 model years with electric hydraulic power steering, the 3.6-liter V6 engine and a 160 amp alternator, according to FCA. In the affected vehicles, it's possible for the alternator to fail without warning and possibly cause the car to stall. According to the documentation submitted to NHTSA, the automaker began investigating the problem in August 2014 and has found possible evidence of one crash caused by the failures but no known injuries.
Customers will begin receiving notification about the recall next month, and obviously the repairs will be done at no cost to them.
Daily Driver: 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X Edition
Thu, Apr 9 2015Daily Driver videos are micro-reviews of vehicles in the Autoblog press fleet, reviewed by the staffers that drive them every day. Today's Daily Driver features the 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X Edition, reviewed by Adam Morath. You can watch the video above or read a transcript below. Watch more Autoblog videos at /videos. VIDEO TRANSCRIPT Hi, I'm Adam Morath for Autoblog. Now, undoubtedly, one of the coolest things about this job is that you're in and out of so many different vehicles, but, I'll be honest, there are times where, if you're in very similar vehicles, they can start to run together a little bit. That's why I love getting into a car like this that just snaps you right out of it because it's so unique and so different from anything else on the market. Of course I'm talking about the Jeep Wrangler. I'm in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This is the X Edition, which stands for X Games. Jeep is a big title sponsor of the 2015 Aspen X Games and you can see that all over this vehicle. You have white, glossy accent plastic in the interior; mountain graphics throughout the interior and exterior of the vehicle – a nod, obviously, to the winter sports and skiing that you would do out in Aspen. And then in keeping with that mountainous theme, you have an Alpine nine-stereo speaker system. I'll be honest, though, that some of it feels a little overdone to me. For instance, there's a power-bulge in the hood. Credit to Jeep: the vents are actually functional, but this is not the trim I would go for, just personally. It's one of those vehicles that people are always wondering, "I really like the look of it [and] I like the capability, but could I live with a Wrangler?" It's the same sort of question you'll get from people who are looking at a sports car, "could I actually live with this is my daily driver?" And I have to say, Jeep has come a long way – Wrangler, in particular, has come a long way – in terms of driving comfort. Of course, don't expect "Lexus quiet." You can probably hear it's a big noisy in the cabin. It's a bit of a bumpy ride. There are things about this vehicle that I could see being annoying in your day-to-day life. For instance, the door: it's essentially an external hinge on the door, but it doesn't stay open for you. So, if you're on any sort of a tilt, the door will come back in and you have to just prop it open with your leg. Little things like that.
Jeep Wrangler gets the wide-track treatment
Mon, 07 Jan 2013When we read the tip about a Gulf-state diplomat in Rabat, Morocco who had supposedly "merged two Jeep Wranglers," we figured the two off-roaders were somehow linked front-to-back. Oh no. As you can see in the image above, taken from video of that vehicle actually traveling down the road and needing more than one lane to do it, the two Jeeps were put together side-by-side.
The seriously widebody truck is said to have six wheels, one at each corner and two in the middle. That's about all anyone seems to know about it at the moment, and that's probably enough - in these situations you know better than to ask why, just watch the video below.
