1997 Jeep Cherokee two door 2-door 4x4 4.0 auto & low miles

95,000 original miles

Runs and drives great!

Female owned since new and female driven since new. Never off road, never
abused, never worked, and always maintained at dealer and/or respected
service stations since new. Runs and drives strong!! Only 95,000 easy
original miles on this Jeep. Good tires, good brakes, solid floors, clean
interior and mechanically strong. I would personally drive it right now
coast to coast with no worries. This is a solid dependable good Jeep! It
does not make engine noises, no smoke, no leaks and it does not burn oil.
It shifts, runs, and drives super strong. Solid, strong and tight
mechanically. Tons of life and years left. Ready for play, fun and enjoyment.

As you can see in the photos, the rockers are starting to rust. They look
worse than they actually are. I was going to freshen them up and paint them
over before listing it, but I wanted to show the Jeep in its original
state. They are starting to get soft in the rear near the rear tires but a
very easy fix/repair. The floors and underneath are solid and in great
shape. This Jeep is a great vehicle for somebody. Plus it’s the hard to
find two door with the bonus of the low miles.

All of these Jeeps seem to have weird quirks here and there but this one is
pretty darn good. There are only a few minor items that I feel should be
addressed if somebody wants to and I listed them here below. They are
strictly minor things that are inexpensive, easy to do and they do not have
to be done right away:

- The muffler is starting to get loud but only a $75 fix according to
our local muffler shop. It’s only the muffler itself, not the rest of
the exhaust. I might take care of this during the auction.

- The wipers rest mid windshield in the off position for some reason.
They do not return to the bottom of the windshield as they should
when turned off. They do work good but they do not stop in the proper
position when in the off setting.

- The rockers have some rust starting, but not bad. As stated above, it would be an easy fix/repair to make them like new again. They look worse in the photos than they actually are. Minor rust in spots but a very solid Jeep still.
*** Floors and undercarriage are very solid and good still.

There are tons of good things to say about this particular Jeep and I
listed some good points here below:

- Rare two door model that is very hard to find.

- Low miles (only 95,000) for a 1997 vehicle.

- Clean interior.

- Over all a clean and solid body.

- Solid floors and undercarriage.

- Super strong engine and drive train.

- Four wheel drive works great as it should.

- Brakes are good.

- Tires are good.

- No dash lights on.

- Driver side air bag.

- Never abused, worked or driven hard.

- Female owned and driven since new.

- Never off road.

- Tons of life left!!!

- Always maintained and serviced properly.

- Dependable good Jeep!

It’s cold and windy here so I took the pictures without detailing it or
washing it. Nothing hidden here, just a good solid and dependable vehicle
for somebody.

Best cars for snow and ice in 2023 and 2024

Tue, Jan 23 2024

What's the best car for snow? The real answer is "the one with winter tires." What do we mean by that? You could have the finest, most advanced all-wheel-drive system or four-wheel drive in the world, but if you're running all-seasons (the spork of tires), your fancy four-wheeler won't matter much. The odds are, any vehicle on the road running good winter tires will probably perform adequately in slippery, slushy and/or snowy road conditions. (Here's a more complete explanation of why winter tires are totally worth it). In other words, you don't really need any of the cars on this list. With a set of winter tires, countless others will do the job, and even these will be at their best with proper rubber. You can find a variety of winter tires for your car here at Tire Rack. Keep in mind that you will need a full set of four snow tires for safety and performance, no matter what you're driving. The days of your dad putting just two snows on the family truckster to get it moving in a straight line are long gone. Don't get us wrong, getting a car that performs well in snow and ice is still a worthy criteria for car buyers. According to the U.S. Transportation Department, 70% of Americans live in places that get snow and ice. And much of the country has been blasted with arctic air for much of the new year. So let's look at the cars. First, we're highlighting choices for a variety of buyers and price points. Second, we're not just considering snow; we're considering general wintery conditions people will experience driving to work or school. As such, these are all choices with advanced all-wheel-drive systems, usually with "torque-vectoring" systems that not only automatically shunt power front and back, but side to side between the rear axles. Most have extra ground clearance for getting through deep snow, and we prefer those vehicles with more responsive steering, throttles and transmissions that provide a greater sense of vehicle control in slippery conditions.    Acura RDX Read our Acura RDX Review Acura's Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system was one of the first to offer torque-vectoring, and besides often being touted for its ability to greatly enhanced dry-road handling, its benefits in the slick stuff can be profound. It's actually surprising that Acura hasn't leaned into this capability further by offering more rugged versions of its vehicles.

Dream Cruising in three Jeep concept cars

Thu, Aug 20 2015

Those of you that have attended the yearly Woodward Dream Cruise, know that the rolling car show is many things to many people. A chance to pull the Corvette out of the garage; a time to ogle rare models you've never yet seen in the metal; a weekend for drinking a cold one with friends and simply taking in the festivities. But for our roving editor Brandon Turkus, this year was a chance to cruise in some concept Jeeps that most people will never see, let alone drive. As Turkus aptly points out from the start, Woodward isn't exactly Moab. But wheeling the off-roaders is nevertheless an eye-opening experience; they may not be upcoming products, but these Jeeps tease out a lot we'd like to see from the brand in the future. You can find these mini Short Cut reviews above, and below, but here's a recap of what Turkus got to drive. Jeep Wrangler Staff Car Concept This one's a proper salute to the Jeep military service vehicles of yore. It's an open-air concept based on the four-door Wrangler, with tons of heritage design cues. It looks old, but we promise, it's totally new. It's got basic steel wheels, a stretched canvas roof, bench seats, a painted steel floor, a built-in cooler that accommodates up to 85 cans, and is painted in an iconic Sandstorm color. When the going gets tough, the Staff Car can handle it with aplomb, thanks to the Jeep Performance Parts two-inch lift kit, Fox shocks, Dana 44 axles, and the Wrangler's 3.6-liter V6. Jeep Chief Concept This Wrangler-based concept is an excellent tribute to the classic, fullsize Jeep Cherokee from the 1970s. It's painted in a vintage Ocean Blue color, with a white, "French Bread" roof. There's also a custom razor grille (something made famous on the original Wagoneer), removable sides, chrome bumpers, and classic-looking, 17-inch wheels. Inside, there's surfer-inspired pink, blue, and white cloth mixed with leather trim, with more fun details like a Rosewood front passenger grab handle and tiki-look shift handle. Of course, this thing looks to be truly capable off-road, too, with a two-inch lift kit, Fox shocks, Dana 44 axles at the front and rear, and a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 underhood. Jeep Wrangler Africa A take on the Wrangler Unlimited, painted in Desert Tan, and powered by a 2.8-liter diesel engine. It looks killer, with 17-inch, body-colored steel wheels wrapped in 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires. There's a two-inch lift kit, Dana 44 axles, and Fox shocks.

What will Detroit do with the abandoned AMC headquarters?

Mon, Dec 28 2015

As with so many other industrial and residential properties in Detroit, the former headquarters for the American Motors Corporation is having a hard time finding a reputable buyer. In October the Wayne County Treasurer held a tax foreclosure auction of 25,000 properties that included the AMC building, the starting bid being $500. Nicholas Casab won the building for $500, but the county voided the sale when Casab didn't pay the $232,000 in back property taxes. Detroit authorities haven't commented on the failed sale, but the city has until January 4 to decide if it wants to keep the building. If it doesn't want to hold onto it, the 1.5-million-square-foot property on 57 acres might be ceded to the Wayne County Land Bank Corporation. No matter who holds the deed come January 5, all anyone really wants is for someone to take possession of the building who will actually turn it into something useful and viable. The property opened in 1927 as a factory for the Kelvinator Corporation. Over the following decades, Kelvinator merged with the Nash Motor Company, and that merged entity merged with Hudson Motor Car Co, becoming American Motors. Chrysler took over the building in 1987 when it bought AMC, then shuttered it in 2009. The complex has produced refrigerators, Sikorsky helicopters, Jeeps, AMCs, and was used as an engineering center for Jeeps and other Chrysler products. Having been through several hands in the past six years, it is cited as part of the cycle of abandonment plaguing Detroit.
