NO RESERVE............NO RESERVE I’m selling the Jeep I bought a couple years back (a car I bought specifically for my son as a learning vehicle). When my son got his drivers’ license I wanted to put him in a tank. Something safe but also something I would have to worry about getting damaged. This 1996 Jeep Country fit the bill perfectly. As you see in the photos it came already “Pre-dented” in the front and rear, so a few more scrapes and scratches would hardly be noticeable. I have put significant money into it trying to make it safe and reliable. I will list all the good points AND bad below. My son is now gone to college and it is starting to sit around in the driveway. I would like to give it a new home and get it out of my way. It would make an excellent first car (as I have used it) for anyone. It RUNS and drives well. Starts every time however there are a couple nagging issues. 1) Exhaust leak. You can hear it when the car is started, but after it warms up, it goes away. Not affecting performance. 2) Awful (yet intermittent) vibration at highway speed after you hit a significant bump. I have replaced just about every component in the front end and the shocks all around but didn’t seem to fix the problem. (As a result I only allow my son to drive it locally and below highway speeds). The GOOD: Everything works – I think. I can’t check the AC now, but it was working. Replaced: Shocks, Tie Rod, Tie Rod Ends, Adjustment Sleeves and Dampner. Power Steering Service Brake Service Front – Pads and Rotor Battery 4 Wheel drive works Power windows and locks Radio (w CD) Newer tires The Bad: Dents front and rear (in pictures) Fabric on the Head liners is loose (holding with pins) Crack in front windshield (been there for years) Back hatch broken shocks (opens and closes – but won’t stand open on it’s own) Auto Passenger Door lock works (but sticks sometimes – have to reach over to unlock it) I’m offering this at No Reserve – but reserve the right to end it early because I will also attempt to sale it locally. You will need to arrange you own pick up. I would not drive it on the open road because I still don’t know the cause of the intermittent vibration. If you are local then driving it will not be a problem. It will go all day long on surface streets and below highway speed. You are more than welcome to see it and test drive it. |

Toyota, Lexus dominate KBB's Best Resale Value Awards
Tue, 19 Nov 2013Toyota and Lexus stormed the 2014 Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards, winning a combined 18 categories including best brand and best luxury brand. This marks the third year in a row that both automakers have won the Brand and Luxury Brand resale value awards. In all, Toyota won 11 categories and Lexus won seven.
Honda made a good showing, as well, winning two segments (Accord Plug-In Hybrid and Civic Si) and putting one car on the top-10 Best Resale Value list (CR-V). Chevrolet did even better, winning two segments (with the V6 Camaro and the Corvette) and placing three cars on the top-10-overall list (again, the Camaro and Corvette, plus the Silverado 1500).
The other winners came from Jeep, Dodge, Infiniti, Subaru and Audi. To give you a clearer picture of the Toyota and Lexus domination, their 18 mentions represents more than half of the 34 awards (including the top-10-overall list).
2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night puts on a dark face
Thu, Nov 19 2015We'd love to tell you that the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT you see above is powered by a hellish 707-horsepower supercharged V8 engine, but we can't. We hope that's coming soon, but in the meantime, we'll all just have to live in a world where an SUV with a 6.4-liter engine sends a mere 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels. So it goes, right? It's not a Trackhawk, and it's not a Hellcat. This is the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night. That basically means it's just like all other 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT models, except that any and all brightwork has been replaced with gloss black bits. To complete the dark and mysterious look, all of the car's badging, its front fascia and its unique set of 20-inch wheels are done up in a satin-black finish. The body can be ordered in Velvet Red, Billet Silver and Granite Crystal (dark grey). Inside, as you'd expect, all the chrome has been painted black, and the black leather seats have silver stitching. Sure, we want to see the Hellcat engine dropped inside the Grand Cherokee SRT just as much as you do, but it's hard to complain about a 4.8-second 0-60 time or a top speed of 160 miles per hour. Feel free to read more in the press release below. 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night The new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night features a stealth-like appearance with the roof, rear spoiler, front grille bezels, B and C pillars and side window surrounds all adorned in Gloss Black. The front applique is Satin Black, as is badging on the hood and rear liftgate. New lightweight, split five-spoke "5Ten" 20-inch wheels are also finished in Satin Black and are designed to showcase the Grand Cherokee SRT8's standard Brembo brakes. Interior appointments include Black Laguna leather with Silver accent stitching and Light Black Chrome bezels. Available colors for the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night include Velvet Red, Billet Silver and Granite Crystal. Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night features a standard 6.4-liter V-8 engine with Fuel Saver Technology that delivers 475 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, an adaptive damping suspension and a Selec-Track Traction Control system. Available features include a dual-pane sunroof, a 19-speaker 825-watt Harman Kardon stereo system, trailer tow package, three-season tires, a full-size spare tire and a dual-screen rear entertainment system.
Updated 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee ace same controversial moose test it failed in 2012 [w/video]
Thu, 02 Jan 2014Some background: one of the more scandalous international incidents of he-said/he-said from 2012 was when Swedish magazine Teknikens Varld put the Jeep Grand Cherokee through its "moose (or elk) test" and reported that the SUV nearly rolled over. That lead to a whole lot of accusations and rebuttals: more than one website and Chrysler's own blog reported that the Jeep was overloaded; Chrysler said Teknikens printed the magazine then let Chrysler respond, Teknikens answered all of the charges in a lengthy post and said Chrysler was given a chance to comment before it went to print; when Chrysler sent investigators to oversee the test and the Jeep didn't go up on two wheels as it did in the first test, furthermore all four wheels stayed on the ground when Auto Motor und Sport tested a Grand Cherokee in the same way.
Teknikens then re-ran the test with a new vehicle and said it's been doing this test since the 1970s, uses the loading information that Chrysler provides to the Swedish motor authority and the previous Grand Cherokee passed with no problem. In the second test, the Jeep failed again, then it gave Chrysler engineers access to the car's electronics and ran the test again. In that second round the Grand Cherokee didn't repeat the lurid two-wheel action, but in eleven runs it blew out front left tire seven times. Chrysler still objects to the results of all of those tests and maintains that vehicle was safe.
The 2014 Grand Cherokee was given its shot at the gauntlet in the latest round of moose tests, and Teknikens Varld reports that it passed without any problem at all, its stability control working perfectly, controlling motion at low speeds and all the way up to 44.1 miles per hour. You can watch the video of the new test and read the press release from the magazine on the updated Grand Cherokee below.
