1989 Jeep Cherokee Base Sport Utility 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Seaford, Delaware, United States
For Sale 1989 Jeep Cherokee. This was going to be a restoration project/beach buggie project that has fallen through. The body and frame are solid, with out any major rust or damage. It will start up and run but the cylinder head gasket is bad and causes it to run hot. The transmission does shift and move. I have not driven this vehicle more than around the yard to move it out of the way. The four wheel drive does lock in an turn all the wheels without any odd noises or sounds, both high and low gear I did check. The worse part is, since its been sitting, some kids decided to spray paint the outside since it was sitting. The original color was blue which is still visible from the roof. The spray paint really take away from the appeal of the vehicle. The brake system on it will need work, the bosch style abs system is bad which causes hard brake pedal, I was going to ditch that system and install conventional power booster and master cylinder combo. I put a steering column in it because the original one was worn out and had a loose tilt unit, I never finished reinstalling he underside of the dash yet, as can be seen in the pictures because the modules are hanging. The interior is very clean for the age and mileage, the seats are all in good shape with not major flaws. The headliner is not there, the vehicle does have a sunroof that does NOT leak. The Jeep does already have a slight lift on it, front springs and rear blocks, they sway bar links need to be replaced, they are currently not hooked up.
So here's what it primarily needs.
1) Motor work- either a rebuild or repair the head gasket 2) Brake work-replace the power assist unit 3) Paint-Not much body work if any, Sand Prime and Repaint 4) Headliner-non existent at the moment
Please ask questions prior to bidding, I will respond as quick as I can. The purchaser must arrange pick up, I am located in Seaford, Delaware. There is NO warranty on the jeep, sales/bids are final. |

Marchionne says no offers are on the table for Fiat Chrysler
Sun, Sep 3 2017MONZA, Italy (Reuters) - Fiat Chrysler (FCA) has not received any offer for the company nor is the world's seventh-largest carmaker working on any "big deal", Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne said on Saturday. Speaking on the sidelines of the Italian Formula One Grand Prix, Marchionne said the focus remained on executing the company's business plan to 2018. Asked whether FCA had been approached by someone or whether there was an offer on the table, he simply said: "No." The company's share price jumped to record highs last month after reports of interest for the group or some of its brands from China. China's Great Wall Motor Co Ltd openly said it was interested in FCA, but had not held talks or signed a deal with executives at the Italian-American automaker. The stock move was also helped by expectations that the company might separate from some of its units. Marchionne reiterated on Saturday that FCA was working on a plan to "purify" its portfolio and that units, such as the components businesses, would be separated from the group. He hopes to complete that process by the end of 2018. "There are activities within the group that do not belong to a car manufacturer, for example the components businesses. The group needs to be cleared of those things," he told journalists. Asked whether an announcement could come this year, Marchionne said it was up to the board to decide and that it would next meet at the end of September. He said the time was not right for a spin-off of luxury brand Maserati and premium Alfa Romeo and the two brands needed to become self-sustainable entities first and "have the muscle to stand on their feet, make sufficient cash". "The way we see it now, it's almost impossible, if not impossible, to see a spin-off of Alfa Romeo/Maserati, these are two entities that are immature and in a development phase," he said. "It's the wrong moment, we are not in a condition to do it." He said the concept of separating the two brands from FCA's mass market business made sense and did not rule out this happening in future, but not under his tenure, which lasts until April 2019. "If there is an opportunity in future, it would certainly happen after I'm gone. It won't happen while Marchionne is around," he said.

Marchionne: Midsize pickup still not in the cards; Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler could use aluminum
Wed, 07 May 2014During the Fiat-Chrysler briefings on Tuesday, Reid Bigland, head of Ram Trucks, outlined the new product plans for his brand, including confirmation that an all-new light-duty Ram 1500 will launch in 2017. From there, discussions spun off in two directions, with the main questions being: will Ram build a midsize pickup? And, following Ford's move to extensively use aluminum in its new 2015 F-150, will Chrysler be using this weight-saving material for the next round of its fullsize truck, as well?
"I think there is room for a Ram 1000," Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne (pictured above) told members of the media, saying this is a conversation the automaker has been having internally for several years now. "We've tried this ... we've actually taken it to clinics," Marchionne stated, adding that the "response has been lukewarm."
