1987 Jeep Cherokee Xj Rock Crawler 4.6 Stroker on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
I am unfortunately selling my 1987 XJ. This jeep is a lot of fun and will go just about anywhere!
It has a brand new 4.6L stroker in it (less than 150 miles and about 5 hours of run time) this engine cost me a little over 5k to build. No expenses where spared. -4.6L stroker Jeep 4.2L 3.895" stroke crank Jeep 4.2L 5.875" rods Silvolite UEM-2229 +0.030" bore pistons Increase piston dish volume to 30cc 8.75:1 CR CompCams 68-115-4 192/200 degree camshaft Ported HO 1.91"/1.50" cylinder head Mill block deck 0.035" Mopar/Victor 0.043" head gasket 0.058" quench height Ford 24lb/hr injectors 240hp @ 4700rpm, 315lbft @ 3000rpm -ported rebuilt HO head -comp cams cam -billet double roller timing -ARP everything inside -grade 8 bolts outside -custom powder coated (valve cover, oil pan, motor mounts, thermostat housing and timing cover) -3 row aluminum radiator -3 10" electric fans and aluminum fan shroud -tubular header -alternator, starter, waterpump, injectors, balancer, all sensors just about everything on the engine is brand new -optima red top (relocated to rear) -oil pressure gauge, egt gauge, AFR gauge and fuel pressure gauge on fuel rail -5" lift kit -35" BFG tires -17" wheels (new) -rancho adjustable rate shocks (new) -quick disconnect sway bar -4:56 gears -OX locker in front -manual 4x4 selector (got rid of vacuum) -boatside rock sliders (2x6 .120) -tubbed rear end -fuel tank sunk into floor -ice chest hold down -custom ARB winch front bumper -custom rear bumper with tow hitch -all 4 doors are pinned for easy removal -speakers on quick disconnect and an aux speaker under the dash for when the doors are off. Jeep is currently registered and titled as a classic vehicle in Nevada (smog exempt). There are countless hours and a lot of money put into this jeep. |

NHTSA investigating power modules on Chrysler Group SUVs and minivans
Mon, 29 Sep 2014The Center for Auto Safety is officially petitioning the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to begin scrutinizing alleged problems with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on about 24 Chrysler Group SUVs and minivans. The advocacy group claims that the part's failure can cause affected vehicles to stall or not start at all. NHTSA is still looking into the accusations and deciding whether a full investigation is actually warranted.
The CAS petition claims at least 70 TIPM failures, but according to NHTSA, six of the complaints are for models that don't have the modules. In 34 of the reported cases, the vehicles refused to start, and in 17 of them the engine stalled. There were also two allegations of smoke and one of a fire. However, none of these affected airbag deployment or resulted in a crash.
This petition isn't the first TIPM-related problem for Chrysler Group. A recent report in the New York Times alleged that it found 240 complaints potentially related to the issue on NHTSA's website alone. In September, the automaker also recalled 230,760 examples worldwide (188,723 in the US) of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango replace the fuel pump relay circuit inside of the TIPM-7 with one external to the unit. The original part could allegedly cause the models to stall without warning. Even earlier, the company also recalled about 80,000 examples of the Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro in 2007 to have the module reprogrammed.
FCA's Pentastar V6 gets more power, efficiency for 2016
Wed, Sep 2 2015Already a vital member of FCA's powertrain lineup, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is receiving major efficiency improvements for 2016. Thanks to a massive amount of new tech attached to the mill, fuel economy is up six percent, and torque below 3,000 rpm jumps nearly 15 percent. The updates arrive first in the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but they should proliferate to other models eventually. At least in the Grand Cherokee, the tweaks push power up five horsepower to 295 ponies. FCA's engineers went through the Pentastar from top to bottom to eke out as much efficiency as possible. For example, there's now a two-speed variable-valve lift system that can run in low- or high-lift modes. This upgrade is responsible for 2.7-percent better economy, the company claims. A new intake manifold with longer runners and updated variable-valve times also helps boost the torque output. Further improvements come from pushing the compression ratio to 11.3:1, from 10.2:1 before. Perhaps most impressive is that despite all of the innovations, the latest Pentastar actually weighs four pounds less than the current version. Beyond the Pentastar improvements, all of the FCA US gasoline engines, except for the Viper's 8.4-liter V10, will be E15-compatible for 2016. The company says that it wants to be ready for the higher ethanol content fuel's greater use in the near future.
We drive the cars of Furious 7... in Forza Horizon 2 [w/video]
Thu, Apr 9 2015On March 27, Turn 10 Studios, the folks behind the Forza Motorsport series, and Universal Pictures, the studio responsible for the Fast and Furious franchise, gave us a match made in heaven, announcing a "standalone expansion" featuring the two franchises. Called Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious, it features the cars from the latest film installment, unique missions and the voice-acting of Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, who plays tech guru Tej Parker on camera. A Fast and Furious video game? Seems like a no brainer. It gets better. Rather than limiting the Fast and Furious Edition cars to the expansion game, Turn 10 made them available through one of their (some may say notorious) downloadable content packages. Eight of the expansion's 11 cars were made available for just $4.99 (the only cars that weren't included were the Fast and Furious Edition Nissan GT-R, while the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and McLaren P1 are already available in-game). What's cool ais that the cars featured in both games are visually identical to the vehicles driven by the stars of Furious 7. Each in-game car has an on-screen parallel that plays a role in advancing the film's story. Considering that we're unlikely to score seat time in Dominic Toretto's real Dodge Charger, then, we figured we'd take to the game and test the car in the digital realm. We've got nine little cluster reviews, covering the cars both in the game and how they appear in the movies. And don't worry, there are no major spoilers here. Click on for the cars of Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious. 1970 Dodge Charger R/T Fast and Furious Edition Supercharged 7.2L V8 / 900 HP / 663 LB-FT The one vehicle that is mandatory in a Fast and Furious video game, Dom's hot-rodded 1970 Dodge Charger, is as much a character in the films as its driver. Furious 7 marks the fourth appearance of this Mopar beast in the series. Not surprisingly it's a handful to drive, wildly quick and with a four-speed transmission packed full of very tall gears. But beyond that, it's arguably the coolest of the FF Edition cars. This black beauty is exactly as it appears in the latest installment of the film, with the video game version featuring intricate little details, like the moving parts on the BDS supercharger. It's an iconic car, and it's treated as such in the game.
