For Sale is one of the classic 4WDs. The vehicle has 102,XXX original miles and is clean inside and out. No rust except a couple of spots on back bumper. Previous owner dripped white latex paint (pinhead drops) on the hood and top (may be removable with a latex solvent). Lots of new part: carburetor (yes it has a two barrel carburetor), alternator, thermostat, radiator, valve cover gaskets, oil change, filters, etc. 2WD, 4WD High and 4WD Low work perfectly. AC cold, hitch, fresh WV sticker (which is an inspection to make sure that the vehicle is road worthy). Tires are about 60 - 70 percent on the original wheels. The only KNOWN problem is that the headliner is starting to droop in a couple of places; no known mechanical problems. Low reserve, sold as where is. Vehicle is for sale locally.

Chrysler accelerates Jeep recall repairs from 2018 to March

You may remember that Jeep's unusual fix for this recall involves fitting a trailer hitch.
The recall of about 1.5 million models of the 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty and 1993-1998 Grand Cherokee over fuel tanks may finish far sooner than originally estimated. In a new filing from Jeep's parent, Chrysler Group, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company says that it can complete the repairs for the affected vehicles by March 2015, much sooner than the previous estimate of sometime in 2018. Jeep predicts the total cost of the campaign will be around $151 million.
2014 Jeep Compass/Patriot sing their swan songs with a six-speed automatic
Tue, 15 Jan 2013Unless the governor, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, gives them a reprieve, the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot are expected to meet their makers sometime next year. Should they perish, it's a shame that it would happen just as they've shed the continuously variable transmission that was their major bugbear, and just as the Compass has gotten its best looks yet.
Both will roll with a proper six-speed automatic transmission, courtesy of PowerTech. Noise-resistant gears and tuning by Chrysler boffins should alleviate the unappealing sounds that were given off by the older CVT. Unless, that is, you choose to have either model equipped with Freedom Drive II; the serious off-road package, available on both baby Jeeps, will still come with the CVT. The base transmission on the entry-level Sport trim remains the five-speed manual.
Otherwise, it's minor changes for the Compass, set off by the new 18-inch wheel option, trim pieces around the car and a back-up camera. The Patriot gets seat-mounted airbags, but is carryover otherwise. With their expected demises perhaps a year away, not much has changed otherwise. Engine choices comprise the 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque or the 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 172 hp and 165 lb-ft.
