1977 Jeep Cherokee Chief, Rare two door wide track Chief. Purchased from the original owner with only 80,889 miles (open title still in his name) Originally from Pennsylvania, but moved to Phoenix in the early 80's. A cool old chief. Originally had a 258 six with a 4 spd. Now has a 1972 350 chevy with a 4bbl and Edelbrock intake. Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner. All emissions equipment is present. There is a TH700r4 transmission with a B&M shifter. The motor has a build sheet and full file of receipts. Motor was built in 1994, has less than 10k miles The original owner converted the Jeep over and decided that 2wd was enough for what he needed. So there is NO transfer case. This is a easy conversion, adapters being available through www.novak-adapt.com and also www.advancedadapters.com.   Pick up a used Dana 20 or Dana 300 transfercase or even a chevy transfer case and your ready to go. Since it was a manual trans Jeep it has a center rear dana 44 differential with a Posi and  3:54 gears and original Dana 44 front with matching gears and locking hubs. She runs good, could use a tune up and a carb rebuild. With fresh gas and a new battery she fired right up. The torque converter is slow to release sometimes, but always does. I think it needs to be driven some or fluids changed. I have only put maybe 3 miles on it. I purchased this Chief, it had been sitting in outside storage since 1998. I got it running again and buffed out the red paint and painted the black area with reproduction Cherokee Chief stickers. There is a BRAND NEW full black carpet kit from BJ'S offroad still in the box. BRAND NEW BFG all terrains. The wheels have been sand blasted and painted white. Two restored center caps (one sitting in passenger seat). The door panels are in GREAT condition as are the rear panels and headliner.  The floors are 98% solid! Only one small hole on the passenger side next to aluminum entry guard. The dark areas was surface rust I painted with rust killer (navel jelly). (Look at the pics) the darker areas is wet from hosing it out. The grill is amazing as is front bumper. The rear has a dent in the middle and 2" receiver hitch and trailer brakes also. The handle for rear glass is also included. The body is bright red, (originally Russet Metallic Red), There was rust repair done on the rear quarters in the past and the rear flares are fiberglass replacements. The paint is chipped on passenger side and looks like somebody "egged" the drivers door. Couple small rust bubbles around front fender flare. Some more buffing and she would look amazing!

I know this is a lot of information. I want to be completely honest on the condition of this Jeep. I am selling this awesome Cherokee for someone else to complete. I am way too busy and it has just been sitting beside my house for a year. She needs a new home! She runs and drives and is a GREAT driver or classic hunting and fishing rig. The price is reflective of the condition, however this is a great Jeep and is worth every penny. I have a issue where I feel the need to save every jeep I see (more like a sickness). SO I saved it from baking in the sun at a storage facility. The frame and drivetrain are solid, the body is 90% and the interior with the carpet put down and seat upholstery would look great.

Any questions or more pics please contact me. I do restore Jeeps for a living, Not a dealer but a out of control hobbyist that just LOVES JEEPS! I do require a 250.00 non-refundable deposit within 48hrs of the agreed price. The remainder of the payment must be cash or certified bank check. I can set up a "temp" transfer account with Wells Fargo. I have done this many times and works great. The Jeep does not leave my possession until the money clears my account. As soon as I receive the money I will send you the open, notorized clear title. I will also deliver the Jeep to any Automotive Carrier in the Phoenix valley at NO CHARGE. If you are quoting shipping the zip is 85027. I have sold and shipped Jeeps all over the US and overseas. There is no warranty on this vehicle, I have done my best to describe it (probably over described). She is a GREAT and rare jeep that needs a new home and someone to finish it.

Again Please call with questions.

2014 Jeep Cherokee gets official in a hurry

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

Automakers work very, very hard to keep their new vehicles under wraps until they can present them in exactly the way they want it - typically choreographed under the bright lights of an auto show, or perhaps with photos or video in an idyllic location. Spy shooters and leaks, in other words, keep executives and public-relations types up at night.
This is likely to be one of the most polarizing designs to come out in 2014.
Take today, for instance, when the team over at Jalopnik got a big scoop - the first undisguised shots of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, a model whose name wasn't even officially confirmed yet. The clandestine images taken inside of a factory were blurry and didn't exactly show off the crossover's radical new contours in the same sort of flattering light that Jeep probably would've wished for its product reveal. So the Auburn Hills automaker has wisely reacted by spilling at least some of the beans on the new model, giving us these four photos and confirming the Liberty replacement's name, Cherokee.

Jeep will build old Wranglers next to new ones in Toledo

Mon, Mar 21 2016

Jeep made a lot of people happy when it confirmed that the next-generation Wrangler would continue to be built in Toledo, OH. Now, news is breaking about the lengths the automaker will go to in updating its northern Ohio factory. There's good news for Jeep dealers (more Wranglers to sell!), Jeep fans (more JKs to buy!), and Jeep itself (more money to be made!). According to a report from Automotive News, capacity at the factory will be increased to 350,000 units per year. That's around a 50 percent increase over what the Toledo complex can currently manage and is, according to Jeep boss Mike Manley, part of a move to keep production "at the right place" so "supply [stays] just behind demand." The other big news revealed by the AN report focuses on the future of the current Wrangler. Yes, the current JK has a future. It'll continue to be built at the Toledo factory up to six months after it successor arrives in showrooms, a move that's partially down to the way Jeep is shuffling production about. Toledo currently builds the Cherokee on a unibody production line – it'll continue to do so until March of 2017, when production will move to Belvidere, IL. The unibody line in Toledo will then be converted for body-on-frame production, which should take about six months. But during that time, the current JK (likely rebadged as a "Wrangler Classic") will continue to be built alongside another line of next-generation Wranglers, keeping dealers supplied with the today's Wrangler through March of 2018. The two Wranglers will overlap for about six months. This is all very good news if you've been waiting to pull the trigger on today's Wrangler. But move quickly – the clock is officially ticking. Toledo mayor, Jeep champion Michael Collins dies from heart attack

Mon, Feb 9 2015

The city of Toledo is mourning the loss of its mayor and the campaign to keep production of the Jeep Wrangler in the Ohio city has lost a champion after Michael Collins suffered a heart attack behind the wheel recently. Born, raised and educated in Toledo, Collins was a Marine Corps veteran and a city councilor. He was elected mayor in 2013 and assumed office on January 2, 2014, a little over a year ago. He was driving an SUV provided by the city in a snow storm on February 1 of this year when he suffered a heart attack and crashed into a utility pole. He remained in critical condition for days until he was taken off artificial life-support. During his relatively short term in office, Collins became an outspoken and energetic advocate of keeping the Jeep plant in Toledo, where it has been assembled for decades. The next-generation Wrangler is set to switch to aluminum construction, which could lead to moving its production to another location, but Collins (alongside Governor John Kasich and others) had worked hard to convince FCA US to keep it in town. Whether his efforts will prove successful remains to be seen, but our hearts go out to his friends, family and constituents. Michael is survived by his wife Sandy, three daughters and eight grandchildren. He was 70 years old.
