Original paint rust free Arizona 1986 Jeep CJ7

VIN: 1JCCF87E0GT010658

1986 Jeep CJ7 with a 4.2 liter engine and a 5 speed transmission.  The optional equipment on the Jeep are:  Air conditioning, Laredo package.  This Jeep was sold new in Palmdale California.  It spent until 2004 in California.  The last 10 years in Arizona.  The dry climate preserved the body.  There is no evidence of rust or body damage.  The CARFAX indicates there was an accident where an airbag deployed.  There is no airbag, and I find no evidence of body work or paint.  The truck has been sitting in a barn for over two years.  It could not pass emissions in California or Arizona.  The title is clean.  If you have ever read any of my vehicle adds you will know that I am brutally honest with my descriptions.  I do not flip cars for a living I have a full time business I am not an expert on Jeeps, but I am always happy to speak to someone if they have question. There are links below to a video of the Jeep driving, a walk around, and the engine running.  Also there is a link to over 100 pictures where I show the good bad and the ugly.  Please feel free to call me at 602-908-9267 with any questions.

Body/Tub- The tub of the jeep has no evidence of rust or body work. .  All of the original Sebring Red paint appears to be original.  The clear coat is almost totally gone on the hood and front fenders.  The stickers are very faded with small chips and scratches.  The passenger front fender has slight wrinkling on the top which is hard to see, and the camera would not pick it up.  There are small dents and bruises on the truck.  The interior of the tub is straight with scuff marks, but most of the original paint still shines.  The bottom of the tub is very clean.  Still shows a very thin layer of Sebring red over gray primer.  I belie all of the paint under the truck to be original.  Again no evidence of rust at all.  There is small amounts of undercoating on the tub, but it also looks original.

Interior-The cloth front seats and the back bench do not match.  The cloth is well used, but complete.  The back seat is in good shape.  All of the gauges work.  The radio has been relocated to Masterrac box in between the seats.  It works well with speakers in the dash and in the Masterrac boxes mounted on the rear fenders.  I have some of the keys for the boxes, but not all of them. Caret in the rear of the Jeep only.  Carpet is old and faded.  The under dash A/C has been removed.  The gauge in the radio slot is for the air pump system.  The A/C compressor is now used as a compressor with a small tank under the hood.  I tried to get it to work, but it appears to be non-operational.    Dash is clean with no cracks. The gauges in the dash work.  I’m not sure they are accurate but they operate.  The plastic bezel around the gauges is cracked.  The wiring under the dash is a bit of a spaghetti mess.

Engine/Transmission/ Drive Train- the 4.2 liter engine appears to be completely original.  It cleaned up well, but it is in desperate need of a tune up.  My guess is a major tune up will get the Jeep close to passing emissions, but the catalytic converter is more than likely in need of replacement.  There is a small coolant leak coming from the upper radiator hose connection.  The Jeep ran hot the day I drove it to take pictures.  It was 109 degrees with 50% humidity so I was running hot as well.  In the pictures you can see the air pump system.  The nozzle is in the front grill.  The transmission shifts OK.  The clutch engages and disengages OK.  A little chatter from what I think is the throughout baring.  Four wheel drive engages.  4 High and 4 low appear to work as they are supposed to.  Please look at the link below to hear the engine running.  The locking hubs appear to work fine.

Chassis-We cleaned the bottom of the truck off  and painted the frame so it would not rust.  The chassis appears to be straight and original.  The lift is a 6” Superlift.  The shocks are Ranch RS 5000’s.  I do not know how old they are, but I suspect they have been on the truck a long time.  The tires are Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ’s.  They have no tread ware, but ate date coded 2007.  The aluminum wheels are scuffed and the center caps are bent up.

I drove the truck about 20 miles.  It wanders and tracks poorly, but it runs good.   Acceleration is strong and shifts well. I am happy to let someone look at it if you want to inspect.  Please call me at 602-908-9267 if you have questions or want to take a look.  The type of cars I sell are Arizona rust free in nature.  This normally results in a great response and many times the auction ending early.  The Jeep is for sale locally so the auction could end if I receive a solid offer.

Final Toledo Jeep decision may have nothing to do with city's efforts

Mon, Apr 13 2015

Toledo, OH is doing all that it can to keep production of the Jeep Wrangler in its boundaries, but the biggest issue facing the plant may be insurmountable, no matter how desperately the city wants to keep the Wrangler local. The Wrangler is built in a rather interesting manner at the Toledo Supplier Park: Fiat Chrysler only handles the very final assembly of each vehicle, while two other companies, Kuka, a German firm, and Hyundai-Mobis, a member of the sprawling Hyundai empire, produce the body and chassis, respectively. The vehicles are then transferred over to the FCA part of the park, where they're painted and completed. This was, as The Detroit News explains, a convenient arrangement back in 2006 when the supplier park opened. Chrysler, which was still owned by Daimler at the time, arranged for Kuka and Mobis to handle production, saving it a huge sum of money. Both suppliers own their own machinery and buildings and employ their own workers. Now that FCA is a relatively healthy entity, though, there's not a lot of need to be sharing profits with two other companies. "What [FCA boss Sergio Marchionne] would like is to have the advantages of high-capacity utilization, owning that capacity and taking advantage of that for himself versus having a supplier doing some of the things his competitors do internally," David Cole, chairman emeritus at the Ann Arbor, MI-based Center for Automotive Research, told The News. "It really adds another level of complexity to the situation." While Sergio Marchionne is a man that generally gets what he wants, it seems unlikely that either Mobis or Kuka would give up their role quietly. According to Jon Zapf, Mobis North America's chairperson for UAW Local 12, the company "definitely wants to maintain their part of this production process." According to The News, Jeep is likely to announce the location of next-generation Wrangler production in June. Expect to hear much more on this one in the coming months.

Watch the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat blast off

Thu, Jan 21 2016

It's all but official. Jeep will produce a Hellcat version of the Grand Cherokee with crazy horsepower. We mean crazy. Today, our spy shooters have captured video footage of this demonic creation. It's pretty short, but you can see a dark Grand Cherokee launch with vigor and then brake hard to a halt. We think we detect the whine of a supercharger amid the commotion. Jeep boss Mike Manley has said on video that the JGC Hellcat will arrive before the end of next year. Specs aren't known, but it seems likely that the Jeep Hellcat will share the blown 6.2-liter V8 used in the Charger and Challenger Hellcats. We've also heard rumors the Trackhawk name could be used for this vehicle. In those applications, the beastly Hemi pumps out 707 manic horsepower. Really, why wouldn't you do this? Jeep sales surged 22 percent around the world last year to 1.2 million, the brand's best year ever. Clearly, Jeep decided it was time to add an extreme performance vehicle. Jeep already sells an SRT model that pumps out 475 hp, so adding a top-end Hellcat seems logical. And a Hell of a lot of fun. Related Video:

Jeep Liberty replacement takes shape

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Now that the Liberty has left us for greener pastures, it's time to start looking into the future of the midsize Jeep model. The next all-new vehicle for the off-road brand will be the SUV you see here, effectively replacing the Liberty, and not necessarily carrying on with that name.
From the sides, the prototype you see here sort of looks like a miniature version of the handsome Grand Cherokee, albeit with a bit more in the way of body sculpting. Up front, the seven-slat grille will be front and center, with completely revised headlamp designs that are reportedly angular and sweep well into the front fenders (you can sort of see what we're talking about in the side profile). That doesn't sound very Jeep-like, but we'll reserve judgment until we, you know, see the thing.
The bigger question with the Liberty replacement will be whether or not its off-road chops will be up to snuff. After all, the two previous generations of Liberty models were body-on-frame traditional SUVs, whereas this new Jeep rides on a larger version of the Dodge Dart platform.
