Jeep Cj Scrambler on 2040-cars
De Ruyter, New York, United States

Lifted 83' Jeep Scrambler with tons of modifications, not a show car by a long shot, but stands out in any crowd and gets a lot of looks wherever I take it. I bought this Jeep a few years back with the understanding that there had been some rust in the front floor boards that had been repaired, that the carburetor needed some work, and that the front end needed an alignment. Needless to say there was quite a bit more work needed and I've spent the last two years working through them as well as making improvements when possible. I'd like to carry this Jeep to full overhaul, but last fall my wife and I started a build-your-own-human kit and I don't think I can manage those two projects at the same time. Upgrades that were done by previous owners:Original CJ engine swapped out for an 88 YJ 258 Inline 6 -I have no idea why this motor was swapped in or of the actual milage of it.Brake booster/Master cylinder from a full size chevy truck installed. -It makes stopping in this Jeep no problem, even with the big tires.5" body lift -Was done poorly and the body mounts and bushings have suffered for it. I have a complete set of Polyurethane bushings and a stainless steel hardware set but haven't had a chance to install them. This will drop the Jeep down a couple of inches and improve the ride quality and these components will never wear out again.Sunpro Mini Tachometer - I moved it from on top of the steering wheel into the dashYJ Windshield frame installed -The metal in the YJ frame is thicker, and swapping it in helps solve an issue with the windshield wiper arms bending and failing.Twin-stick kit for Dana 300 Transfer case -Allows High and Low ranges to be applied to one set of axles at a time, which can help out when four-wheeling in tight spaces.

Jeep Patriot replacement adopts tiny Grand Cherokee styling
Thu, Jun 16 2016After almost a year out of the spotlight, we've finally snagged our second set of images of Jeep's new CUV. Set to replace both the Patriot and Compass, these latest images reinforce what we originally thought about Jeep's newest model – it's a baby Grand Cherokee. These 15 images provide the best look yet at the new sheetmetal, details, and interior. Starting with the skin, it's like Jeep's designers scaled down the Grand Cherokee's profile to fit on the new crossover's stretched Renegade platform. The headlights, grille, and taillights looked like shrunken items from Jeep's flagship crossover, too. This is good news – even after its 2011 facelift the Compass was a homely little thing, and the Patriot was boxy at a time when CUVs were going for smoother, more aerodynamic lines. Jeep's new CUV is avoiding those mistakes by aping one of the company's most popular designs. Only the driver's seat, steering wheel, and center stack appear in the interior images, so we can't tell how the stretched chassis impacts rear-seat legroom compared to the Renegade/Fiat 500X. But in front, it looks like a Jeep – FCA's corporate steering wheel and HVAC controls are present and accounted for, but the usual touchscreen display looks bigger the expected 8.4-inch unit. That could just be the camera angle playing tricks on our eyes. We can't make any judgments about the material choices, but we'd expect quality to be on par with the larger Cherokee. Under hood, our spies report that FCA's nine-speed automatic will be the only transmission choice. FCA will call on its new 2.0-liter, Hurricane four-cylinder engine, the spies claim, but we also expect the less powerful 2.4-liter, four-cylinder from the Renegade and Cherokee. Apparently, production will begin by the end of the year. Short of a shotgun launch immediately after a Detroit debut, that virtually guarantees a debut in Los Angeles (or possibly Paris). Chrysler accelerates Jeep recall repairs from 2018 to March
Thu, 17 Jul 2014
You may remember that Jeep's unusual fix for this recall involves fitting a trailer hitch.
The recall of about 1.5 million models of the 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty and 1993-1998 Grand Cherokee over fuel tanks may finish far sooner than originally estimated. In a new filing from Jeep's parent, Chrysler Group, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company says that it can complete the repairs for the affected vehicles by March 2015, much sooner than the previous estimate of sometime in 2018. Jeep predicts the total cost of the campaign will be around $151 million.
Next-gen Jeep Wrangler to pack 300-hp Hurricane turbo four
Mon, May 9 2016Fiat Chrysler has been working for some time now on a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Dubbed "Hurricane," the engine is now said to produce nearly 300 horsepower. And its first application could be in the next-generation Jeep Wrangler. With that much power coming from such a small engine, the Hurricane would offer an even higher level of specific output than the 1.75-liter engine in the Alfa Romeo 4C – one of FCA's highest-stressed engines – far eclipsing the 4C's 120 horsepower per liter with 150 hp/l. By way of comparison, the latest 2.0-liter, four-cylinder version of Ford's EcoBoost engine produces "only" 245 hp (122.5 hp/l). The 2.0-liter turbo four in the latest Mercedes-AMG CLA45 and GLA45, however, produces 375 hp. To get so much out of so little an engine, FCA will utilize a twin-scroll turbocharger and variable valve timing. That could make it ideally suited towards a compact performance model, but according to Automotive News, its first application could be in the new the Wrangler. The larger 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 produces 285 hp, nearly as much as the Hurricane will. But with a smaller engine, an eight-speed transmission, and aluminum construction, the new Jeep will likely benefit from dramatically-improved fuel consumption. Related Video:
