I am offering up for sale one of the nicest Jeeps I have ever owned.

CONDITION:

This Jeep runs and drives like a dream.  Just turn the key and it immediately comes alive.  The original owner bought this Jeep just before retirement.  He claimed that it never saw a winter being that they were snowbirds (had one house in Idaho and one in Arizona).  The mileage of 75,500 are original miles and the original owner stated that half of those miles were towed miles.  Just drive this Jeep and see its condition and you will know that he was telling the truth.  There is absolutely NO RUST on this Jeep.  It has always been in the dry climates of Idaho and Arizona.  It is extremely rare to find a Jeep of this age and in its original condition with No Rust.  As you can tell by the pictures, it is nearly flawless.  The Laredo stickers are in great shape and there are a few small light surface scratches and no dents.  You will have a hard time finding one this nice and in this great of condition.

The only thing that this Jeep is missing is the original Air Conditioning.  The original owner had it removed because he did not believe air conditioning should have come in a Jeep in the first place.  If the Jeep doesn't sell, I am going to keep it and put in an aftermarket Vintage Air system.  (Vintage Air will be more reliable than trying to find the original compressor anyway).  As you can see, the mounts for the air conditioning compressor are still attached to the engine block, so the addition of the compressor would be simple.  I drive this Jeep daily and it is a blast to be in.  It gets looks all the time.  The Laredo package on this CJ5 doesn't end with the decals, it also has the upgraded steering wheel, custom leather seats and leather grab bar, ash tray on the dash, badging, clock, etc.  All the gauges work as they should and the last trip I took which was about 150 miles, I got about 16 miles to the gallon at @ 60-65 mph.  (With the 4 speed, I could have traveled faster.  RPM Gauge was reading just under 2,000 RPM's at 65 mph).

The Four Wheel Drive works as it should and it as well as the transmission shifts perfect, just like new.  In the time that I have owned this Jeep, it has been very reliable and I would not have a problem driving this across the country (as long as the weather is nice).  As are most CJ5's, it can be a little squirrely with the Power Steering, however, I got used to it really quick and as mentioned above, I have traveled long distances with it at a fast pace.

FEATURES:

Jeep comes with the original 1981 Jeep Owners Manual, soft top with full soft doors, soft half doors, good tire life left on the All-Terrain BFGoodrich Tires, Original Factory Wheels, the original owner owned this Jeep until this year.  I admit, I got a great deal on it and if I do not sell it, I will keep it.  It is worth every penny and more of my Buy It Now price.  The lucky new owner of this Jeep will be in Heaven and be the envy of many.  That is how great this Jeep is.  The Jeep has not been lifted.  When I bought it, I had a local spring shop re-arch the front springs so that the Jeep would sit level.  The springs are still in the stock original location.  The Jeep also has the stock Posi-Trac in the Rear.  It does not leak any fluids what-so-ever.  Oil changes were done regularly with 10-30 Valvoline and K&N Oil Filters.

I am sure that I am missing something, so if you have any questions or comments, just send them my way and I will answer them.  I can also take more pics if you want to see something specific that are not in the pics in the ad.  As you can see by my feedback, I am very honest and truthful in describing what I am selling.  This ad is no exception.  You will not be disappointed with this Jeep.

Shipping is at the owners expense, however, I will do what I can to help load the Jeep.  Good Luck.  Thanks for looking at my auction.  You can call or text me at 2O8.869.9927.  I am in Idaho.

Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango still catching fire after recall

Thu, May 7 2015

Automakers issue recalls all the time. It's part of the cost of doing business. We just assume that once the recall has been carried out, the problem in question has been fixed. But that's not always the case, as this latest investigation being undertaken by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration goes to show. The problem stems back to a recall issued by Chrysler last summer. It revolved rather the sun visor in the SUVs it makes at its Jefferson North Assembly Plant – specifically, the screw affixing the sun visor could end up rubbing against the wiring for the lamp in the vanity mirror, potentially causing an electrical short and even a fire. 62 such short circuits, 38 fires and three injuries reported, prompting Chrysler to recall nearly 900,000 units of the 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango (over 650,000 of them in the United States). The plastic spacers they installed to rectify the problem, however, may not have done the trick. Eight reports (but none involving injuries) have been filed with the NHTSA regarding the same issue recurring, spurring the government agency to open a new investigation into the matter. If deemed necessary, the NHTSA could ask FCA to issue another recall to fix the issue again, which we may necessitate the installation of a fuze to prevent any such the electric short. Related Video: INVESTIGATION Subject : Headliner Fires Date Investigation Opened: MAY 01, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: RQ15003 Component(s): ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , INTERIOR LIGHTING Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) SUMMARY: On July 1st, 2014 Chrysler (FCA US LLC) issued safety recall 14V-391 to remedy a wiring-related fire hazard on the headliner of approximately 661,888 model year (MY) 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured between January 5, 2010 and December 11, 2013. The recall was in response to the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) investigation EA14-001 during which data provided by Chrysler indicates that the fire is caused by an electrical short in the vanity lamp wiring for either one of the sun visors mounted on the vehicle. The sun visors are mounted to the roof of the vehicle through the headliner with three metal screws.

Watch this R/C Jeep Wrangler plow snow

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

There's no denying the fact that the Jeep Wrangler is one tough and rugged vehicle, and there is apparently little lost when the SUV is shrunk down for a 1:10th scale radio-controlled version. Proving that the Axial SCX10 Jeep Wrangler is not your run-of-the-mill R/C car, YouTube user Andrew Dykiel posted a pair of videos showing it clear about an inch of snow from his sidewalk and driveway during a snow storm last month.
Starting at $379.99, the Axial SCX10 costs more than most budget snowblowers, but other than paying a neighbor kid to shovel your snow, this might be the best way for a car guy to clear snow without the need for hot chocolate and ibuprofen. Better yet, it's electric, so it's zero-emission answer to snow removal! Scroll down to see how this R/C Jeep can help "shovel" snow from the warmth of your sofa. We've also thrown in a bonus video showing the mini Jeep negotiating the Rubicon Trail.
