1985 Jeep CJ8 SCRAMBLER
This is a beautiful and rare Jeep CJ8 Scrambler.  In 1985 Jeep only produced 2,015 of them, most have either been rusted out or disappeared over the years.  This one is ready to be driven and used or added to your collection.  It is a beautiful Jeep that gets a lot of attention and will continue to appreciate in value over the years.

Engine:
4.2L 6 cylinder motor that starts right up, runs strong, no smoke and is smooth.  It doesn't leak any noticeable fluids on the pavement after being driven.  It has no problems keeping up with traffic in town, on the highway or in the mountains.

Transmission/Transfer case:
T5 5speed manual transmission that shifts great without any grinding, popping or whining.  The Transfer case is a Dana 300, it shifts easily into both 2wd, 4wd high and 4wd low.  It is a solid unit.

Suspension/Drivetrain:
Stock suspension and the Jeep drives very tight. Stock differentials with stock gears.  Drives great on in town and on the highway.

Body:
Body overall is in great condition without any significant dents or dings, there are a few scratches and a few small blemishes to be expected for a 28 year old original Jeep.  There is rust in the drivers side floor pan, and drivers rear wheel well (view photos). Overall beautiful CJ8!

Paint:
The Jeep was repainted at one point and overall is very nice however the front hood, cowl and windshield frame have some clear coat peeling.  The hood shows some areas of paint completely gone and down to bare metal (view photos).  The interior and bed appear to be original paint and in good shape.  The paint overall is very reflective, shiny and shows lots of luster minus the areas listed above they are hit and miss.

Half Top/doors:
The half hardtop is in excellent condition and looks like its never been taken off.  The doors do not have any cracks by the wing windows and both interior black panels, pull handles, glass are all in great condition.  Windows roll up and down, doors open and close with ease etc.

Interior Gauges/switches:
The interior lights, turn signals, fuel gauge, heater all work without any problems.  Ebrake is tight

Interior seats:
Seats are in excellent shape, the drives has a small tear very small and the passenger is in excellent shape.  Creme color!

Tires/Wheels:
The tires have a lot of tread life remaining.  They have approx 90% tread, the tires are a Bronco Mud Terrain 31x10.50x15" mounted and balanced on Semi Beadlock Wheels 15x8 that are in excellent condition.  All tires have equal tread and drive great on the street as well off.

I am a Jeep enthusiast and do my best to describe the condition as accurate as possible.  It is possible I missed something so don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns.  Be sure to look at some of my feedback.  All sales are final, no warranty, no guarantees and sold as is where is.  Please settle all questions, issues or concerns prior to bidding or winning the Jeep.

Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver is a more rugged Trailhawk

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

We briefly mentioned the Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver that was heading to SEMA last week when discussing the Mopar lineup set to be shown in Las Vegas. At the time, though, we weren't able to dive too deeply into details. But with SEMA in full swing, we were able to sneak over and grab some snaps of one of the first modified Cherokees we've seen. The Cherokee is, after all, kind of an unknown quantity in the modification department, being so new and featuring such a polarizing design. We were quite interested to see what Mopar could come up with.
Starting with the Trailhawk 4x4 and its 3.2-liter V6, the engine is fitted with a Mopar cold-air intake and a new exhaust, although it's not clear what sort of power boost has resulted. We'll admit, we were hoping Jeep and Mopar would get a bit more aggressive with the Cherokee's suspension (has anyone thrown a few-inch lift on the new Jeep yet?), but there's no mention of upgrades beyond the knobby, off-road tires. Those should do some good when the going gets rough, while rock rails are there to protect the Auburn Pearl paint on the body.
Speaking of that paint, it's complemented by an interesting graphics package in contrasting black and Crush Orange. The cabin sports Katzkin Amaretto leather seats, along with tech-friendly items like a wireless charging system for cellphones and wireless internet.

Jeep recalls 92k Grand Cherokee SUVs over electrical issue

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Chrysler is recalling 91,559 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 2014 model year due to some serious electrical issues. All of the affected models were built between January 8 and August 20, 2013.
The NHTSA report states that, "Due to a disruption of computer communications and loose alternator ground wires, the affected vehicles may experience random illumination of multiple instrument cluster warning lights, loss of cluster illumination and loss of anti-lock brake system (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC) function." The loss of ABS or ESC would greatly reduce a driver's ability to control the vehicle if things get squirrely, and since these failures would not be illuminated on the dashboard display, drivers would not be warned of the issue, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall is expected to kick off sometime this month. Chrysler will notify affected Jeep owners and dealerships "will update the ABS and instrument cluster module software and tighten the alternator ground wire," according to NHTSA.

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
