SOLD AS IS -- LOW RESERVE!!

This Jeep has not been moved in 5 years, I have not started it in 5 years and the battery is dead. It will need to be towed from my friends house in Arlington Virginia where it has been stored parked outside. It needs some work, however it was running OK and was a work in progress when I last parked it. Since then I have gotten married, had a kid, and been focused on other things. It hasn't been inspected since 2006, and I have kept the tags & insurance good only because I intended to finish this project, but have decided otherwise. I have invested alot in rebuilding this and will be taking a big loss. Although it is not pristine, it is a real eye-turner, and it always attracted alot of attention and thumbs-up. Does have some body rust typical of CJ's of this era, but nothing that cannot be fixed up. It has 131,808 original miles. Shortly before parking it last I did the following work:

- Factory Rebuilt Transmission
- TS transmission Warrior Twin Stick
- Factory Rebuilt Engine - AMC 258 6-cylinder
- Electromotive Fuel Injection Uprade (with manuals)
- Centerforce Clutch
- Smitty Built Roll Bars
- BIG tires
- extra wide Xenon Sport Flares (also includes original flares)
- Borla Exhaust
- Lots of Stainless Steel Upgrades
- Stainless Steel Brake Lines
- Tuffy Speaker Safes & Console

ALSO included are lots of extras. HARD TOP is in good shape. HARD DOORS are in OK shape. In addition:

- BestTop SOFT TOP (BRAND NEW still in box - never opened)
- BestTop SOFT DOORS
- DIAMOND PLATE HALF DOORS
- BIKINI TOP
- lots of other EXTRAS including: various original parts, Chilton Manual, etc, etc, etc

Deposit of US $200.00 within 24 hours of auction close. Full payment required within 3 days of auction close.

EV cost burden pushing automakers to their limits, says Stellantis' CEO Tavares

Wed, Dec 1 2021

DETROIT — Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said external pressure on automakers to quickly shift to electric vehicles potentially threatens jobs and vehicle quality as producers struggle with EVs' higher costs. Governments and investors want car manufacturers to speed up the transition to electric vehicles, but the costs are "beyond the limits" of what the auto industry can sustain, Tavares said in an interview at the Reuters Next conference released Wednesday. "What has been decided is to impose on the automotive industry electrification that brings 50% additional costs against a conventional vehicle," he said. "There is no way we can transfer 50% of additional costs to the final consumer because most parts of the middle class will not be able to pay." Automakers could charge higher prices and sell fewer cars, or accept lower profit margins, Tavares said. Those paths both lead to cutbacks. Union leaders in Europe and North America have warned tens of thousands of jobs could be lost. Automakers need time for testing and ensuring that new technology will work, Tavares said. Pushing to speed that process up "is just going to be counter productive. It will lead to quality problems. It will lead to all sorts of problems," he said. Tavares said Stellantis is aiming to avoid cuts by boosting productivity at a pace far faster than industry norm. "Over the next five years we have to digest 10% productivity a year ... in an industry which is used to delivering 2 to 3% productivity" improvement, he said. "The future will tell us who is going to be able to digest this, and who will fail," Tavares said. "We are putting the industry on the limits." Electric vehicle costs are expected to fall, and analysts project that battery electric vehicles and combustion vehicles could reach cost parity during the second half of this decade. Like other automakers that earn profits from combustion vehicles, Stellantis is under pressure from both establishment automakers such as GM, Ford, VW and Hyundai, as well as start-ups such as Tesla and Rivian. The latter electric vehicle companies are far smaller in terms of vehicle sales and employment. But investors have given Tesla and Rivian higher market valuations than the owner of the highly profitable Jeep and Ram brands. That investor pressure is compounded by government policies aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions. The European Union, California and other jurisdictions have set goals to end sales of combustion vehicles by 2035.

Jeep Cherokee finally dealer-bound

Tue, 22 Oct 2013

We had our First Drive of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee last month, but it appears that prospective buyers won't have too much longer to finally get time behind the wheel of the new small Jeep.
Automotive News is reporting that after a two-month delay, Jeep dealers will finally start receiving their first shipments of the new Cherokee, in the next 10 days. A Chrysler spokesperson confirmed to Autoblog that the Cherokee is indeed on its way to Jeep dealers.
According to AN, about 23,000 Cherokees have been built since production commenced back in June, but potential powertrain issues forced Jeep to make adjustments to the Cherokee along the way. Automotive News says that in order to make sure there are no issues with the Cherokee before it reaches customers, it is testing each vehicle after it rolls off the assembly line at a rented test track near the vehicle's Toledo North Assembly Plant.

The fascinating history of the Popemobile

Tue, Sep 22 2015

Pope Francis will be arriving today in the US for a variety of stops, including the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, PA. While here, the Pontiff won't be riding in the usual Mercedes-Benz Popemobile, but instead will make a more American switch to a modified Jeep Wrangler, according to the Washington Post. It'll feature a protected front, top, and rear, but the sides will be open for His Holiness to see the throngs of people gathering for him. For hundreds of years, Popes were transported in horse-drawn carriages or sometimes carried in an enclosed chair by footmen, but His Holiness finally traded for some real horsepower in 1929. While his ride sometimes varied depending on the country being visited, a Mercedes-Benz was generally the common choice. However, the Pontiffs have ridden in everything from a modified GMC Sierra to a Ferrari Mondial over the past few decades. Pope Francis has definitely preferred more plebeian transportation, though, including a Renault 4 running on biofuel. A trip to South Korea even put him in a Kia Soul, and he opted for an Isuzu D-Max in the Philippines. The Post's whole list is quite a fun read, and it's fascinating to see how the Popemobiles evolve over time. Related Video:
