I am selling my 1985 Jeep CJ7, I purchased the vehicle 15 months ago. The ad for the Jeep read,

"For Sale, 1985 Jeep CJ&, Total frame off restoration, everything new or refurbished. Body tub was stripped to bare metal and restored to new. All new bushings, Inside and underside completely coated with Line-X. Rebuilt 258 6 cylinder. All engine accessories are new-clutch, water pump, starter, hoses, belts, radiator, etc... 4 speed t-18 transmission-low granny gear 300 case. Spring over 2 1/2" Pro-Comp Suspension and shocks, stainless steel brake lines, new steering components. New 35"x15.5"x15" Super Swamper SSX tires on 15x12 M/T Aluminum Rims. Front and rear axles have been gone through-brakes, rotors, bushings. New Bestop front and rear flip seat and console (Denim Black)"
Since I have owned the Jeep, I have done some upgrades, personally I put in a Sony DSX-MS60 head unit with an Alpine PDX-4.100M amplifier under the rear seat (I had planned to swap the amplifier for a PolkAudio PA D5000.5) the amp feeds a pair of Polk Audio DXi525 and a pair of DXi690 in VDP boxes behind the front seats. I have but never put in a DXi124dvc subwoofer mounted in a ProBox which goes with the Jeep. Mechanical work was done in Miami by Auto Repairs by Rick/The Jeep Doctor, he knows the vehicle very well. Rick has swapped the engine out for a remanufactured Jasper Engine, still a 4.2 L, engine came with a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty, about a year ago. Somewhere in it's past the ignition was changed to a points ignition. I swapped that out with a DUI ignition. A Weber carburetor DEGV 32/36 was put on recently. New clutch, starter, aluminum valve cover, flywheel, mounts, radiator and hoses, DUI ignition and plug wires with E3 Spark plugs. A custom Tom Woods CV rear drive shaft was ordered and installed with proper angles set per Tom Woods specifications. I put on a Bestop roll bar pad/cover in Black Denim. I also purchased a Bestop trail cover, since the only top with the Jeep is the bikini top shown. I also put in new Crown Performance brake lines and the brake booster was replaced. The wheels are not M/T as stated by the seller I bought it from, they are Eagle Alloys. Center console is not Bestop it is another brand in a grey finish. Any questions, please feel free to ask.

Chrysler defies NHTSA, says it won't recall 2.7M Jeep Grand Cherokee, Liberty models

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

Facing a possible recall totaling around 2.7 million of its most popular SUVs, Chrysler remains insistent that the 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty are safe vehicles. This comes on the heels of a recall request from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for these two models due to fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle, which could possibly be ruptured during severe rear-end collisions, leading to an increased risk of fire. In response to the allegations, Chrysler says that it does not agree with NHTSA nor does it plan on recalling either vehicle.
Chrysler said both SUVs "met and exceeded" the requirements for fuel-system integrity, and cooperated fully with NHTSA since the investigation was opened in 2010. While 15 deaths and 46 injuries have been reported from fires caused by rear-end collisions on these models, Chrysler is claiming that the vast majority of incidents cited by NHTSA were "high-energy crashes," including one where a stopped Grand Cherokee was rear-ended by a tractor trailer going 65 miles per hour.
The automaker wraps up by saying "NHTSA seems to be holding Chrysler Group to a new standard for fuel tank integrity that does not exist now and did not exist when the Jeep vehicles were manufactured." Scroll down for Chrysler's official response to NHTSA, but we're pretty sure this isn't the last we've heard on this issue.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalls nearly 750k vehicles in two campaigns

Thu, 16 Oct 2014

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling a total of 747,817 vehicles in the US in two separate campaigns recently added to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration database.
The first one covers about 434,581 units of the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Challenger, Durango, and Jeep Grand Cherokee from the 2011-2014 model years with electric hydraulic power steering, the 3.6-liter V6 engine and a 160 amp alternator, according to FCA. In the affected vehicles, it's possible for the alternator to fail without warning and possibly cause the car to stall. According to the documentation submitted to NHTSA, the automaker began investigating the problem in August 2014 and has found possible evidence of one crash caused by the failures but no known injuries.
Customers will begin receiving notification about the recall next month, and obviously the repairs will be done at no cost to them.

FCA facing class-action lawsuit over Grand Cherokee shifters

Fri, Jun 24 2016

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is now facing a multi-million-dollar class-action lawsuit over the recalled shifter design in the 2014 and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the 2012 to 2014 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300. Grand Cherokee owners, galvanized by Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin's fatal accident, filed the suit. According to The Wall Street Journal, the owners allege that FCA concealed the shifter's problems. On top of restitution, the class action suit is demanding a court order force FCA to issue a do-not-drive warning to owners of affected vehicles until it fixes the problem. FCA started distributing a software fix to dealers last week – according to the WSJ, the update will add more warnings about the shifter's position and will automatically kick the vehicle into park if the driver steps out. FCA's shifter problems have been bubbling under the surface as part of the company's recall issues. The US government dinged FCA with a $105 million fine last year for its recall practices (or lack thereof) last year, but things have exploded this week after Yelchin's death. The 27-year-old, best known for playing Ensign Pavel Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek film series, was killed after his 2015 Grand Cherokee rolled down his driveway and pinned the actor against a security gate. According to Jeep CEO Mike Manley, the company will dispatch engineers to analyze Yelchin's vehicle. Related Video:
