Frame-off restoration completed in 2012.  Frame professionally sandblasted and painted.  Rebuilt both axles (Dana 44 rear and AMC 30 front).  New 3.53 gears, leaf springs and shocks.  New Jasper engine (@3000 miles on it now).  T 176  4 speed manual transmission.  1989 Wrangler tub, undercoated with Eastwood product and inside was Herculined.  Professional paint job on the outside.  Painless wiring kit.  All new gauges.  New gas tank, brakes, all stainless brake lines, fuel lines, even flexible brake lines are braided.  1" body lift, 1.5 inch shackle lift.  33" Pro Comp tires.  Vintage seats with "CJ" logo (pictured).  I used an HEI distributor, so no coil.  All accessories (PS pump, alternator, starter, radiator, power brake booster) brand new. Even lower steering column is new.  PSC hi performance steering box.  Clearly, no expense was spared.  Everything on this Jeep is either new or refurbished.  Odometer:  Before the restoration, the old Jeep had 126,000 miles.  I used the best odometer I had, which stated 16,901.  It now states 19,800 miles.  So I have put @3000 miles on it since completion. This is one of the cleanest Jeeps you'll find.  Not used off road, but she'd love to go :).  Only a few minor issues:  Gas gauge does not work.  Worked for awhile, then quit.  Small paint bubble on passenger's door (pictured), couple other nicks and scratches, nothing major.  $20,000 invested in this project, reserve price is much less than that.  If you're looking for a clean, tough CJ, look no further!

Marchionne uses racial epithet to describe what must power future Alfa Romeo models

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Sergio Marchionne and his Fiat empire have a lot riding on the US return of the Alfa Romeo brand. The endeavor has been in progress for what feels like a lifetime - certainly for as long as Fiat has had the Chrysler brand under its Italian wing.
It's not surprising that Fiat CEO Marchionne needs a perfect first Alfa to mark a return to America. And here's where things get dicey. Nobody would argue with Marchionne's insistence that Alfa Romeo's be powered by Italian engines - as Marchionne himself is quoted to have said at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, "There are some things that are well done in Italy."
If not what he said, then, it's how he said it that has eyebrows raised. "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it needs to be a wop engine." Wait, what's that?

Watch this 9-year-old drive Jeep Wrangler off-road [w/poll]

Wed, 28 May 2014

This nine-year-old girl might be better at rock crawling than some people twice her age. But is it worth putting her in danger to do it? According to her father on the Jeep Experience Facebook page, her name is Faith, and she has been offroading with her family since she was two. At nine years old, she's now driving her dad's Jeep over the rocks by herself.
As you can see she's belted in and under her father's direct supervision and guidance. She shows immense confidence for someone her age and follows her dad's instructions on exactly what to do. Although, this could still be a very dangerous situation if something went wrong.
Previously, we saw a similar video with a six-year-old on a motorcycle driving on public roads through the desert. Voters decided by only a six-point margin that the adult should be in trouble for letting the kid ride the bike. Here, we have a slightly older child driving a vehicle off road. Where do you fall in this case? Is it still wrong to hand over control to a child? Let us know in the poll below and scroll down to watch the video.

Chrysler readying 20 Moparized vehicles for SEMA

Tue, 08 Oct 2013

The Las Vegas Convention Center has plenty of space for aftermarket companies and automakers to show off their wares, and it looks like Chrysler is taking advantage of the spacious floor plan. At next month's SEMA Show, Chrysler will have a full 20 cars from its six brands decked out with Mopar gear.
As a hint of what is to come, Chrysler released a handful of teaser sketches showing glimpses of modified Jeep Cherokee, Ram 1500, Fiat 500L and Chrysler 300 concept vehicles. The automaker will also use the venue to show off a new line of Jeep Performance Parts offered by the all-new Mopar Off-Road Division. In addition to the images, Chrysler also issued a brief press release - posted below - breaking down some of the "industry-first features" that Mopar has offered in recent years.
