I'm selling my 84 cj-7 jeep owned since new. The jeep has been garaged over 12 years & needs work. It has the factory 4 cyl. with less than 2000 miles on rebuilt motor. A new computer was installed but needs a carburetor. Before parking it I installed a new clutch, less than 500 miles on it. 4-speed & 4 whl diff. has never been tampered with other than fluid changes. The rear end was rebuilt a couple of years before garaged. All the gauges & instrument worked before parked & comes with new heater core. The body tub has rust needs new floor boards & other body rust hole patches. Frame is in good shape no cracks, never been welded on (some surface rust). The front clip is in fair shape, one fender has a fixable dent & the hold has some dings but no rust. The windshield and windshield frame are in good shape. The spare tire gate & tail gate are in good condition. The frame shows minor surface rust but has no cracks & has never been welded on. A custom rear bumper was built when jeep was new. It has BF Goodrich Radial All-Terrain T/A (32x11.50r 15LT) with about 40% tread wear, they have held air for all these years of sitting. The alum. wheels have some clear coat spots of flaking but still clean up nice. The jeep has a new power steering gear box & pump installed a couple years before garaged, but will need some other steering comp. replaced ( tie rod ends & other). One of the front leaf springs will need replaced but other are fine. The front seats are trashed but bases can still be used; the rear seat seat is in good condition (no rips, tears or wear spots). The roll bar pad in good shape The jeep comes w/ a black after market soft top w/its own storage sock & tan bikini top that is all in fair shape. The hardware for the top is in good condition. I have a clear title & think I have covered everything honest. More pictures are available upon request. Buyer responsible for shipping

Jeep dealer buries WWII Willys GP in showroom floor
Tue, 04 Nov 2014The Willys MB Jeep earned icon status during World War II thanks to its ruggedness, simplicity and go-anywhere ability. Following the war, it didn't take long for the handy vehicles to be scooped up by the public, and a brand slowly grew around the vehicles that has continued to thrive. Fast-forward to present day, where it's not uncommon for auto dealers to try to grab some of the magic of yesteryear by displaying classic models to connect customers with their brands' proud histories. Now, a Canadian Chrysler Group dealer is taking that notion to the extreme by actually making a vintage WWII Jeep part of its foundation.
Bay King Chrysler in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, recently completed its new showroom, and the franchise really wanted to show its dedication to the Jeep brand. As dealer principal Jamie Richter tells Autoblog, the inspiration for the Jeep installation came from his brother, who became fascinated with a home that had a glass floor looking down into its wine cellar. The company already had the 1943 Willys MB to display, but it had originally planned to build a jungle gym around it for customers' kids. Now, the classic is literally in the floor as customers enter. Richter tells Autoblog that customer reaction so far has been "fantastic."
It's certainly a novel way to bring people into the showroom, and seemingly a nice nod not only to Jeep, but to the men and women who served in the war. If you want to see more about how the Jeep was actually installed and what it looks like, check out this video.
China orders Jeep to investigate Wrangler fire risk
Mon, 06 Jan 2014It's been some time since we've heard anything about fires related to the Jeep Wrangler (foreign or domestic), but it sounds like the go-anywhere SUV could be in hot water once again in China. Bloomberg is reporting that the Chinese government is ordering Jeep to investigate the matter and, in the meantime, also recommending Wrangler owners to not drive their vehicles in "extreme conditions" due to a "relatively high risk" of catching on fire.
There is no indication as to how many vehicles or which model years are affected, but the previous fire problems in both the US and China - which led to investigations but no recalls - were traced back to automatic transmission fluid leaks. The article, however, does not say what the potential problem is this time around as Jeep has not released a comment on the matter. The official notice, in Chinese, can be found here.
This American Life spends a week selling Jeeps in Long Island
Thu, 19 Dec 2013So you think you know car dealers? Well, maybe you do, but This American Life spent a month at Town and Country Jeep Chrysler Doge Ram in Long Island to give us a behind-the-scenes look (or listen, since it's a radio program) at what it's like to be a car dealer.
Yes, there's a lot of swearing in thick New York accents, frustration, confusion, and generally it's a madhouse at the dealership. But that's understandable when the sales staff has to sell 129 vehicles in October in order to get an $85,000 manufacturer bonus - with several other Jeep dealerships within a 10-mile radius.
The episode, 129 Cars, is worth a listen, but make sure you have 71 minutes to spare if you want to get through it in one sitting. Head here for the unedited version or here for the bleeped version (which is 58 minutes long).
