1983 Jeep CJ

The Willys CJ, or "Civilian Jeep,” is a public version of the famous Willys Military Jeep from World War II.

The first CJ prototype was introduced in 1944 by Willys and the same basic vehicle stayed in production through seven variants and three corporate parents until 1986.

A variant of the CJ is still in production today under license. The last CJs, the CJ-7 and CJ-8, were replaced in 1987 by the Jeep Wrangler.

I am pleased to present the 1983 Jeep CJ-7 you see pictured. This is a seriously bad ass Jeep that is ready for just about anything on or off the road! This Jeep has been tastefully modified into the off road warrior you see and it’s very obvious that not a single stone was left unturned!

Finished in black, the paint is in good condition, only showing minor imperfections which are typical of a vehicle that goes both on and off road. The body is sound and sturdy. There is a seam on the top left rear quarter panel, as you can see in the photos. This particular Jeep has a removable black vinyl top that is in great shape. The Jeep is jacked up high on Rancho suspension, has a set of KC HiLites and a Warn Winch on the front. The winch does not have the remote with it.

Inside, you’ll see that the interior is finished in black and looks great. There are no signs of wear on either the front seats or the rear bench seat. The dash houses Sunpro gauges that look great. The temperature and fuel gauges are inoperative.

Under the hood, you’ll find a 258 cubic inch Straight 6 engine (Casting # 3227445), complete with Cherry Bomb exhaust. Attached to the 4.2 liter engine is a 4-speed manual transmission. This Jeep is equipped with both power steering and power brakes. It sits HIGH on a set of 15” Pro Comp Xtreme Wheels wrapped in massive 38x15.50R15LT Truxus S/T tires with a lot of bite left to them! There is a spare tire, complete with matching wheel, attached to the rear of the Jeep. Added Large Front Brush Guard

This is an extremely fun Jeep to drive and take off road! The VIN is 1JCCM87A3DT060341 and the mileage currently shows 3,491. It is being sold on a clean and clear title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!

Blake Anderson drives an over-the-top patriotic Jeep

Thu, Jan 15 2015

Comedian Blake Anderson is seeing growing success as one of the stars and co-creators of the Comedy Central show Workaholics. Not surprisingly, when you get your own TV show, there's a deep desire to celebrate with a big purchase, a car perhaps. Anderson did just that, but as opposed to plunking his money down on a Porsche or Mercedes-Benz, he took a much more patriotic route. Anderson described his ride as "an American Jeep" in an interview with Conan O'Brien, and he didn't mean that it was from the AMC years of the off-road brand's ownership. Instead, this one is as patriotic as they come thanks to a beautifully regal bald eagle covering the hood with the nation's flag as the background running up at least to the windshield. Hear Anderson's entire story of buying this red, white and blue off-roader in the video above.

2014 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

The 2014 North American International Auto Show is right around the corner, which means it's high time we found out which cars and trucks would be finalists for the prestigious North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards.
The finalists - three in cars and three in three trucks/utilities - are dominated by American brands, with two-thirds of the finalists hailing from either General Motors or Chrysler (don't worry Ford, there's always next year), while outliers from Mazda and Acura can be found in each contest. Here now is the list of finalists for the big prizes:

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT gets power increase, minor tweaks for 2015

Tue, 02 Sep 2014

As a brand within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, SRT may have an uncertain future, but it's pumping out some seriously mean machines anyway. The supercharged Hellcat V8 may be gobbling up most of the headlines with its 707 horsepower, but even the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting some small updates for the 2015 model year.
Most importantly for many enthusiasts, the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting a slight power bump. Don't expect the 700+ hp from the Hellcat, but this SUV sees a modest 5-hp and 5-pound-feet of torque improvement to bring output to 475 hp and 470 lb-ft for its 6.4-liter V8 with an eight-speed automatic. The minor change doesn't change the sprint to 60 miles per hour, clocking in at the same 4.8 seconds, or the tow rating at 7,200 pounds. Still, more grunt is never a bad idea.
Another new addition is the Active Noise Canceling system as a standard feature for this powerful SUV. It adds four microphones around the vehicle and uses the stereo system to nullify extraneous sound. However, Jeep claims that the meaty exhaust note from the V8 still gets through into the cabin for driver enjoyment.
