Up for sell is my 1982 jeep scrambler cj-8

The jeep runs awesome and drives excellent. It has a 258 straight 6 engine with about 30,000 miles on the rebuild, a T-5 five speed transmission, and a Dana 300 transfer case.  The differentials are the stock Dana 30 in front and the model 20 in the rear. It has a 22 gallon gas tank and a tow package. It is equipped with a Weber carburetor, power steering, power brakes, aftermarket traction bars which all aid in the excellent driving of this classic scrambler. I have driven it on longer freeway drives as well as around town and it does great at all speeds. The 4 wheel drive works well and shifts in and out nicely although I haven’t used it much.

The jeep has  160,000 miles on it, and has spent most of its life in the Las Vegas area soaking in the hot sun with little to no exposure to weather and elements.  I feel confident in saying that it is rust free and in excellent shape. It should last another 30 plus years with no problem!

In the past 2 years the following things have been done:

Sand blasted the body inside and out

Painted the jeep inside and out, and underneath with 3 coats of black and 3 coats of clear coat

Nutmeg scrambler Laredo decal kit

Painted the frame with a nice satin black

New body mount bushings

New Bf Goodrich 31x10.50x15 All terrain tires (currently have 90% tread)

Stainless steel accessories: Hood kit, windshield brackets, door brackets, front bumper, grill overlay, dash gauge cover, side mirrors, windshield knobs, and inner windshield brackets

Chrome diff covers front and rear

Alternator

Water pump, fan

Radiator

Fuel pump

Spare tire cover

Spice front seats

Driveline u-joints

All oils: engine, tranny, transfer case, front and rear differentials, and antifreeze

With all that being said it is still a used jeep and is not perfect. There are a couple paint dings that accrued when putting the jeep back together but are very minor.  The jeep is absolutely awesome!!!! But it was made in the 80’s people and if you keep that in mind you will be very Happy!!! This jeep has about  $20,000.00 invested  so please only bid if you have all the money, I do not want to wait for financing.  I wish I could keep this gem in my collection longer but I am going through a divorce and have to part with it.

Under these circumstances  I am selling it as a NO RESERVE  auction highest bidder wins and can come drive it home. If that way doesn’t work I have a friend that owns a shipping company and can deliver to your house for a good deal, either way I am more then happy to help make this a good buying experience.  Please bid with confidence knowing that this jeep was well maintained and cared for. A scrambler in this condition is very hard to find so Good luck and I hope she finds a good home!  Thanks.

NHTSA closes investigation on 4.7M FCA power modules, no recall

Thu, Jul 30 2015

FCA US hasn't had the best time with recalls as of late. Not only did the company recently agree to greater safety oversight and paid $105 million to the government, that came just days after hacking fears prompted a 1.4-million model recall campaign. However, a recent decision to close an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration means that the automaker doesn't have to worry about another major recall possibly affecting 4.7 million vehicles, according to the agency's report (as a PDF). Last September, the Center for Auto Safety petitioned NHTSA to investigate an alleged problem with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on these FCA US models. The group claimed that a fault with the component could cause a variety of maladies, including stalls, not starting, catching fire, unintended acceleration, and airbag non-deployment. At the time, it also submitted 70 cases where this had reportedly happened. According to NHTSA, "no valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components." The agency did find signs of an issue with the fuel pump relay in some Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos, but FCA US issued recalls for the problem in September 2014 and February 2015. Without anything else to go on, the Feds don't think it's worth investigating this topic any more.

Daily Driver: Long-Term 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Tue, Mar 10 2015

As a fan of the boxy Jeep styling of old, I was disappointed when photos first leaked of Jeep's revived Cherokee in early 2013. Then the midsize crossover arrived in Autoblog's longterm garage in May of 2014 and my opinion did a 180. I was prompted to rethink the exterior design of the vehicle after reading our reviewer's interview with head Jeep designer Mark Allen. "The previous, blocky Cherokee was so aerodynamically inefficient, it would be wrong to do it," Allen told Autoblog's Jonathon Ramsey. That made sense. After all, Jeep is a brand associated with the outdoors, so its only natural that they seek to produce efficient, yet capable vehicles. It was then I began reconsidering the sleek lines of the new Cherokee. What once seemed bland and rounded now appeared streamlined and purpose-built. I also give Jeep credit for the slim headlamp silhouette, which look like no other SUV on the market – a far cry from the distinct circular lamps on Wranglers or squared headlights of past XJs. As I drove our long-term Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk on a few road trips, my affinity for the vehicle's comfortable interior grew as well. The seats held up to a nine-hour trek to Montreal, and the Chrysler Uconnect system made navigating the roads and the radio a breeze. Above you'll hear my early impressions of the Cherokee, and below you'll find a previous long-term update featuring Autoblog's Steven Ewing and Chris McGraw. UPDATE: The video mistakingly indicates that the Jeep Cherokee features LED headlights. The Jeep Cherokee, in fact, has daytime running lamps with LED accent lighting. Related Video:

YouTube tallies votes for this year's top five Super Bowl spots [w/video]

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

When we asked you to tell us which of this year's 16 car-themed Super Bowl commercials you liked best, you chose the Farmer commercial from Chrysler Group, advertising the Ram trucks, over Audi's Prom commercial in second place. Turns out the voters in YouTube's Ad Blitz poll agreed, voting the same commercial to the number one spot from among the field commercials in every category.
From there, however, they went in a totally different direction. Budweiser's The Clydesdales spot came second, Samsung's The Next Big Thing took third. The Jeep Whole Again ad scored fourth in the YouTube poll, fifth in our poll of auto commercials, and the Hyundai Team spot got fifth from the YouTubers, but ninth in our poll.
The voting results don't match up with the viewing numbers, though - while Farmer has more than 13 million views, The Next Big Thing is well beyond 21 million. You can read the press release below and see all five spots, lined up for you, one more time.
