1980 Jeep Cj7 Manual With A 304v8 on 2040-cars
Red Lion, Pennsylvania, United States
Up for sale is this 1980 Jeep Cj7
Mechanical This Jeep is equipped with the 304 v8 and is mated to the factory T176 4 speed transmission. It has a Dana 300 transfer case and narrow track AMC 20 rear end installed. Up front it has the Dana 30 axle, however, I do not know the gear ratio installed in the axles. The engine ran and had strong oil pressure before the gas tank was removed. The original fuel tank developed a small fuel leak. Included with the sale is another fuel tank that I purchased for installation (Shown in the picture). Chassis The frame has the typical CJ rust in the rear channels but the rest of the frame was found to be solid after checking with a ball peen hammer. In addition, all of the shock mounts and cross members appear to be solid. The frame does not have any cracks or rot around the front steering box or center channel areas. The body mounts also appear to be in good condition as well. The front and rear suspensions are not modified and still has all of the factory components still installed. This Cj is equipped with the power brake option. The right rear brake line was broken in half and needs to be replaced. Replacement brake line kits are easily available for the CJ models. Body The tub itself has rot damage in the front floor pans, quarter panels, rear fenders, and around the roll bar mounts. It would be better to replace the tub with one from a YJ or a reproduction. The front fenders have rot on the outer areas, however, the inner fenders are solid and do not appear to have any rust damage. The windshield frame will need to be replaced since it has typical CJ rust damage in the lower corners. The front grill, dash and tail gate are in good condition and can be saved. The hood is in good condition and has a tiny rust hole (shown in picture) which can easily be repaired. The temp and fuel gauges are currently not working, but all of the other gauges and lights operate correctly. I will also be including the front and rear Bestop seats with the sale of this jeep. The seats are in great shape and do not have any tears. In addition, there are two full doors that go along with the sale. This Jeep has a clean PA title. Many more pictures are available upon request. Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements. $300 deposit is due within 48 hours of the sale. I have set the reserve at a low price for an easy auction. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking and good luck! |

Jeep hiring 1,000 part-time workers in Toledo on Wrangler, Cherokee demand
Wed, 12 Mar 2014The new Jeep Cherokee has been quite a success for Chrysler, but its factory workers are getting tired. The automaker has agreed to hire up to 1,000 part-time, temporary employees at its Toledo Assembly Complex where the CUV and Wrangler are built. It will allow the company to keep Jeep production moving, while giving laborers a break.
According to plant manager Chuck Padden in the Toledo Blade, full-time workers are regularly taking on 60 hours a week, and it's beginning to wear on them. "To get them more time off is important to us, to make sure they're refreshed, and can work safely," said Padden.
Chrysler has already hired 380 temporary, part-time workers for the plant, and 50 have been converted to full-time employees. The company is in the process of interviewing the rest of the new hires now and plans to have all 1,000 in place by the summer. They will work between 10 and 30 hours a week mostly on weekends for $15.78 per hour with limited benefits. The temporary positions will last "as long as demand continues for the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Cherokee," said Jodi Tinson, Chrysler spokesperson for manufacturing and labor communications, to Autoblog in an email.
2014 Jeep Compass/Patriot sing their swan songs with a six-speed automatic
Tue, 15 Jan 2013Unless the governor, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, gives them a reprieve, the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot are expected to meet their makers sometime next year. Should they perish, it's a shame that it would happen just as they've shed the continuously variable transmission that was their major bugbear, and just as the Compass has gotten its best looks yet.
Both will roll with a proper six-speed automatic transmission, courtesy of PowerTech. Noise-resistant gears and tuning by Chrysler boffins should alleviate the unappealing sounds that were given off by the older CVT. Unless, that is, you choose to have either model equipped with Freedom Drive II; the serious off-road package, available on both baby Jeeps, will still come with the CVT. The base transmission on the entry-level Sport trim remains the five-speed manual.
Otherwise, it's minor changes for the Compass, set off by the new 18-inch wheel option, trim pieces around the car and a back-up camera. The Patriot gets seat-mounted airbags, but is carryover otherwise. With their expected demises perhaps a year away, not much has changed otherwise. Engine choices comprise the 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque or the 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 172 hp and 165 lb-ft.
NHTSA closes book on Jeep 'trailer hitch' recall after all
Mon, 20 Jan 2014After much debating and hand-wringing, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now says it has "no reservations" with Chrysler's plan to recall certain Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models over concerns that their fuel tanks, which are located behind the rear axle, could rupture or leak in the event of a rear impact. The longstanding argument between the two entities saw Chrysler openly defy the Feds after a request to recall 2.7 million units back in June.
Chrysler's "voluntary campaign" will instead see it recall 1.56-million 1993-2004 model year Grand Cherokee SUVs, along with 2002-2007 Liberty models. Affected vehicles will get a trailer hitch installed free of charge, which Chrysler says will provide an additional degree of protection for the fuel tanks in the event of a crash. Jeeps with Mopar-branded hitches or hitches that were installed at the factory aren't affected by this recall.
Chrysler's argument throughout this battle has been that the Jeeps in question are no more susceptible to fires than comparable vehicles from the same time period, a position that NHTSA has seemingly arrived at as well. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," said outgoing NHTSA boss David Strickland during an interview with the The Associated Press.
