Up for sale is a 1980 Jeep CJ-7 powered by a chevy 350cu V8. An Edelbrock Performer Kit was installed which includes a 650 cfm carburetor, Edelbrock performer cam and intake manifold. Also equipped with Hooker headers and stainless steal true dual exhaust. On the dyno, it made 220.4 HP and 288.4 ft/lbs of torque at the wheels. Has 9 inch ford rear axle with a Detroit Locker differential. Transmission is a TH350 3 speed that was rebuilt a little over 1K miles ago. Front drivetrain is the AMC 20 axle with super winch lockout hubs. The Jeep has a 2 1/2" proper rise shackle lift kit with skyjacker shocks, and has 33 inch tall tires. Custom driveshafts non slip yolk. Original steel tub and hood, fiberglass front fenders and windshield. Full soft top and soft doors. Interior floorboards have a rugged truck bed coating. YouTube tallies votes for this year's top five Super Bowl spots [w/video]
Tue, 19 Feb 2013When we asked you to tell us which of this year's 16 car-themed Super Bowl commercials you liked best, you chose the Farmer commercial from Chrysler Group, advertising the Ram trucks, over Audi's Prom commercial in second place. Turns out the voters in YouTube's Ad Blitz poll agreed, voting the same commercial to the number one spot from among the field commercials in every category.
From there, however, they went in a totally different direction. Budweiser's The Clydesdales spot came second, Samsung's The Next Big Thing took third. The Jeep Whole Again ad scored fourth in the YouTube poll, fifth in our poll of auto commercials, and the Hyundai Team spot got fifth from the YouTubers, but ninth in our poll.
The voting results don't match up with the viewing numbers, though - while Farmer has more than 13 million views, The Next Big Thing is well beyond 21 million. You can read the press release below and see all five spots, lined up for you, one more time.
2016 Jeep Wrangler to ditch solid axles to save weight?
Tue, 29 Oct 2013Hey, Jeep fans. If you think the idea of a funky-looking, car-based Cherokee revival is offensive, have a listen to what might be in store for the next-gen Jeep Wrangler. Automotive News is reporting that as Jeep develops the 2016 Wrangler, weight reduction is a crucial target, and the Wrangler's rugged solid axles could be sacrificed in the name of better fuel economy.
We've already heard the next Wrangler will go on a serious diet using aluminum body panels and an air suspension system, so the idea of a four-wheel independent suspension setup for this OG SUV isn't all that surprising. Besides, it's not like an independent suspension would limit the Wrangler's off-road abilities - just check out the Hummer H1. In fact, it might be the aftermarket parts companies - not Wrangler enthusiasts - who would be most disappointed by such a drastic suspension change, as the article states that the Wrangler's solid axles and coil-link suspension make it the most popular SUV for customization.
There are probably still a couple years before we'll start hearing any concrete details about the 2016 Wrangler, at which time it will be interesting to see how stricter fuel economy and crash safety regulations have been balanced with traditional Wrangler cues like its removable doors and roof and folding windshield. Let us know in the comments below if a Wrangler sans solid axles is any less of a Wrangler.

There are three sentences that, for this reviewer, define what needs to be conveyed about the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The first: it is very good.
Jeep spent 27 years building the Cherokee and its brand, from 1974 to 2001. Twelve years ago, the Cherokee nameplate rolled away into the distant hills and retirement, at least here in the NAFTA colonies, and it was replaced by a loaded word we knew as "Liberty."
