1974 Jeep Cj 5 Cj-5 Cj5 Barn Find Survivor 33k Miles Good Body T18 on 2040-cars

Year:1974 Mileage:33100
Location:

Selling my 1974 CJ5. This thing is a true untouched running / driving, survivor. Even better its a Northeast Jeep with no major rust rot or body work. Original floors not rotted not repaired, original paint. 33k original miles, clean clear title. This is registered, insured inspected , and driven.
Body does have some stress cracks, dings/ scratches, minor surface rust,  a small rust hole ( pictured)on passenger rocker, and some spray can / brush touch ups, but all and all about as original as you can get. Tailgate is rust free, passenger under seat toolbox rust free! Don't expect a show jeep, but either a great driver or an excellent candidate for a restore, as most everything that came on it is still on it and works.

Motor runs great 258 straight 6 , starts easy, idles good, etc. Original 1 bbl Carter YF carb. 4x4 works, T18 granny low 4 speed shifts good. Transfer case is greasy / oily but it doesnt leave any puddles or drips when its parked.

New Bestop front seats, and a new Bestop bikini. Gauges all work, including fuel gauge! Heat/ defrost work , but can use new control cables. Horn even works!

Rear tail lights not currently connected. I replaced the broken originals with 76-86 CJ tail lights and didnt hook them up yet.
Original wiring/ connections still in tact if you want to put the early round ones back on.

Headlights do work.

Underneath, it has brand new 2.5" BDS springs, grease able shackles,, ( originals were completely flattened out), braided stainless brake hoses, new shoes, wheel cyls, etc. new parking brake cables come with it. 32x11.5-15 BFG AT Tires with approx 70% tread even wear. Factory CJ Wagon wheels.

Frame was cracked and plated , on both sides, ( see pic) but that's pretty common on these older CJs, good solid repair, should not have any issues.
There is no rot on the frame.

Has plow frame and pump. Pump isn't hooked up, I never tested it. No blade or undercarriage mount for plow.

Everything works great on this jeep and it drives great for a 40 year old original. I really liked the patina so I kept it original. You can probably drive this anywhere, but it won't be a comfy ride. Manual steering, manual brakes.

Windshield has some frosting from being old, but I have a good shape used glass that goes w/ jeep.

No other top than bikini, but I have the original Meyers hard top listed in an other auction.

email me if you have any questions.

I really planned on keeping this, because how many do you come across with a T18, and this kind of original shape, but too many other projects and work have been keeping me from enjoying it.

Please don't bid if you can pay or pick up. Feedback less than 10 email me or ill block you and cancel your bid.
If you have some crazy place you want it shipped or some plan for pickup, email before you bid please.

Local pickup, but will work with a shipper- arrangements are up to you.

Jeep Wrangler likely to get aluminum body, will stay in Toledo

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

Perhaps more than any other vehicle currently for sale in the United States, the Jeep Wrangler is viewed by purist fans as a vehicle that simply must maintain the status quo. In this case, that means a body-on-frame design, solid axles, a relatively large engine sitting up front and a removable top. It's always been that way, and it always will be.
Maybe.
According to the most recent reports, the next-generation Jeep will continue to soldier forth with a full steel chassis underneath its stamped bodywork. The biggest change, reports Automotive News, will be that said panels will be hewn from aluminum instead of steel, a seismic shift of a transition not unlike what's happened with the new Ford F-150. Because it won't be a unibody, the SUV will likely continue to be assembled in Toledo, OH as it (almost) always has been - the latter has been a source of heartburn in recent weeks for the Northwestern city in the Buckeye State.

2014 Jeep Cherokee configurator up and running

Fri, 09 Aug 2013

Production delays aside, Jeep is steaming towards its September on-sale date for the 2014 Cherokee. The reborn midsizer's configurator has just gone live, meaning you can fiddle with different options, colors and trim levels to your heart's content.
The cheapest model available is the 4X2 Sport, which starts at a reasonable $22,995. On the high end, the Cherokee's builder allowed us to indulge our passion for ludicrously priced vehicles by outfitting the top-end Trailhawk, which already starts at $29,495, with $8,610 in options. The resulting car, which you can see above, would retail for $39,100 after the $995 destination is factored in.
Head on over to Jeep's build-it-yourself website and have a look around.

Chrysler defies NHTSA, says it won't recall 2.7M Jeep Grand Cherokee, Liberty models

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

Facing a possible recall totaling around 2.7 million of its most popular SUVs, Chrysler remains insistent that the 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty are safe vehicles. This comes on the heels of a recall request from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for these two models due to fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle, which could possibly be ruptured during severe rear-end collisions, leading to an increased risk of fire. In response to the allegations, Chrysler says that it does not agree with NHTSA nor does it plan on recalling either vehicle.
Chrysler said both SUVs "met and exceeded" the requirements for fuel-system integrity, and cooperated fully with NHTSA since the investigation was opened in 2010. While 15 deaths and 46 injuries have been reported from fires caused by rear-end collisions on these models, Chrysler is claiming that the vast majority of incidents cited by NHTSA were "high-energy crashes," including one where a stopped Grand Cherokee was rear-ended by a tractor trailer going 65 miles per hour.
The automaker wraps up by saying "NHTSA seems to be holding Chrysler Group to a new standard for fuel tank integrity that does not exist now and did not exist when the Jeep vehicles were manufactured." Scroll down for Chrysler's official response to NHTSA, but we're pretty sure this isn't the last we've heard on this issue.
