Ventilating/heating control unit disabled along with parking brake lever. Passenger's under seat storage lid unhinged."

Classic unmolested 1973 CJ-5. 3 speed transmission with original AMC 304 V8. The body is in fantastic condition inside and out with no dents or bondo.(rear right 3/4 panel was replaced by previous owner) Very minor surface rust in the back bed as pictured. This was a restoration project that I seem to never have time for and now need a long distance vehicle that can go over 75 mph comfortably (this 40 year old CJ wont cut it as a daily HWY driver). My loss your gain as you can see in one of the pics, nearly $5,000.00 was spent on maintaining and upgrading this beauty since late 2012. The work done on it is as follows : Alternator, regulator assembly, belts, seals, tie rods, break lines, U joints, Clutch kit, pitman arm, batteries and Power steering unit installed.

This very original Jeep as you can see is in excellent all around shape. All 5 matching original wheels with hard to find 60/40 front seats that are in great shape.
Starts right up with the V8 roaring strong.  No mechanical issues with steering, braking, shifting, 4WD, etc..

There are some things that I have not fixed like windshield wipers (sometimes they work, sometimes they don't). Front headlights don't work as of recent nor do the  gauges..which BTW I am including a new unused speedometer in the sale along with oil & volt gauges. Parking brake lever is not connected and the passenger under seat storage lid hinges need to be replaced. The Dash heating/ventilating control unit is disconnected and a replacement unit (not the cables) is included in the sale along with a grab bar, original V8 emblems & original dash lighter. Original manuals, inspection report and receipts are also included. These are minor things but I felt I should mention them.
This CJ is unique and full of character unlike all the new jeeps out there, This baby is ready to be experienced On and Off road !

The Jeep is located in Austin, TX so if you are in the area you are more than welcome to come check it out for yourself.
Any questions if you have them, feel free to contact me. As of today the Jeep is also listed local so I reserve the right to end auction early. I will entertain offers within reason.
The vehicle is listed and sold as-is and all sales are final. Winner is responsible for all shipment fees and services.

You probably won't see FCA's famous Easter eggs on an Alfa Romeo

Thu, Nov 17 2016

They started in Jeeps, with images of seven-slot grilles showing up on windshield edges, the text "SINCE 1941" appearing in the clear plastic of headlight units, and a relief map of Moab engraved into a rubber cubby liner. Then a Chrysler got a map of Detroit and the outline of Laguna Seca materialized near the Viper's window switch. We've come to call them Easter eggs, but Klaus Busse points out that they were never really meant to be secrets, just ways to dress up what he calls "dead plastic." He's nevertheless cool with the phrase being applied and likes the enthusiastic response these design details get. Busse is intimately familiar with many of them, having signed off on many of them in his time as head interior designer for FCA's US operations. He recently moved to Europe to lead Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and Fiat design there, so when I caught up with him next to the new Stelvio crossover at the Alfa stand in LA, I had to ask: Are we going to see any of those neat design details in Alfas or Maseratis anytime soon? The short answer is no. But he didn't say it's out of the question. Busse said if, for example, a designer wanted to put an Italian phrase somewhere on a car that was in keeping with the brand, he would allow it. Although he didn't come out and say it, it seems like he might feel this type of fun design element isn't necessarily appropriate for a higher-end brand like Alfa. And I get that. But I'm still going to check all the compartments of that new Alfa crossover for a map of the Stelvio Pass. Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.

Chrysler banks $507 million in Q2, trims 2013 earnings forecast

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Chrysler has some good news and some bad news. First, profits were up 16 percent over the second quarter of 2012, bringing the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based manufacturer $507 million on the back of strong demand for trucks and SUVs (a recurring theme this quarter, particularly in the US). Q2 revenue was up as well, from $16.8 billion in 2012 to $18 billion in 2013. The bad news is that the Pentastar's overall earnings forecast for net income in 2013 has been trimmed from $2.2 billion to between $1.7 and $2.2 billion, according to Automotive News.
In addition to the adjusted net income forecast, Chrysler tweaked its operating profit from $3.8 billion to between $3.3 and $3.8 billion. This has gone largely unexplained by Chrysler, perhaps hoping the news of a three-percent increase in its transaction prices for Q2 will allow it to sweep this adjustment under the rug.
The star of the show for Chrysler has been its US sales, which saw a 10-percent jump, both bettering the industry average of eight percent and improving over the same stretch of 2012. As with the increase in transaction prices, Chrysler has the new Ram pickup and Jeep Grand Cherokee to thank. Perhaps most worrying from this report, though, is that every brand in the automaker's stable saw an increase in sales... except for the Chrysler brand itself.
