Up for your consideration is my 1971 Jeep CJ5.
This Jeep has been restored to better than original condition. The front half(ffrom the door post forward) is original. The floor is 1/8 inch(!!!) steel, so will not flex or rust thru in our lifetime. The rear fenders and tail are new steel. There is NO rust on this body.
The engine is the original Buick "Dauntless" V6 with unknown miles(its a jeep). Still runs strong and drive it daily in the summer. The transmission is 3 speed, transfer case in one, so it tends to be noisy, but not excessive considering the age. The axles and suspension are original, with the front closed hub 25 with drum brakes. The rear is 44 with drum brakes. Brakes are upgraded to power.
There is a "cold air intake" installed, but I have the original air cleaner assembly. Optima yellow top battery.
The soft top is a newer "Bestop", with split doors and many options for riding. I have a bikini top that adds to the fun.
Interior is clean with nice sports seats. Guages include Autometer tach, oil, and temp. volt, amp, and air pressure guage for the on board air. Fire extiguisher included, as is the Hi-lift jack on the front. Upgraded power steering with tilt wheel.
All of the lights are converted to LED lights, except the headlights, which have the H4 conversion. The Back- up light is mounted into the spare, and is 55 watt.
This Jeep has won an award at a car show, and turns a lot of heads on the summer with the top off. There is a lot of history and love that goes with this Jeep.
Please keep in mind that if you are a larger person or tall, remember that it is an older style CJ5, with comfortable sport seats. If you are larger, you will want to change seats.
Please note that this is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to sell before the reserve is met at auction. once the reserve is met, I will stick with the auction. Thanks for your consideration.

Baby Jeep to join Renegade in FCA's plan for new Italian-built models
Tue, Nov 27 2018FCA is boosting its European production, introducing new models that will be built in currently under-utilized manufacturing facilities. Among the new models is a new small Jeep, smaller than the current Renegade, as Automotive News reports. FCA's Mike Manley mentioned the entry-level Jeep model earlier this year, also saying that the vehicle is targeted to European and possibly Latin American customers; in the summer, Autocar placed the launch date in 2022. The new "baby" Jeep would be made in the same factory in Pomigliano, Italy, as the small Fiat Panda, which is a top seller in Italy. The current generation Panda was introduced in 2011; if it gets a replacement in 2022, it could possibly share a platform with the Jeep model — or, the Jeep could be an eventual outright replacement for the Panda. One of Fiat's earlier core products, the Punto hatchback, was canned in August, and that production capacity will be used to make the Jeep Compass instead, at the Renegade-producing Melfi factory in southern Italy. The Compass has not previously been built in Europe. The Fiat model portfolio would be shrunk to just the 500 model family and the Panda — the 500 would also be FCA's key electric vehicle offered in Europe. It is not yet clear whether the electric 500 would be made in Turin, Italy, or in Poland; Turin might also get a Giardiniera-badged wagon version of the refreshed 500. As for the Alfa Romeo brand, it is set to gain an even bigger SUV model than the Stelvio, based on the Maserati Levante's platform. The Levante's sales have suffered recently in China, but Maserati does have light in the horizon: The Alfieri 2+2 grand tourer is still in the cards, with a launch expected for 2020 and both a convertible and an electrified version planned to follow. The Alfieri would be made in Modena, Italy, according to Automotive News' sources. None of these plans namedrop the storied Lancia brand, which has been shrunk to just the Ypsilon hatchback, based on the same platform as the current 500 and Panda. Despite that, the Ypsilon was again the second-bestselling car in Italy after the Panda in October. It is unlikely that FCA will be able to ignore this, but it is just as unlikely that any development money will be afforded to come up with a replacement for the Ypsilon, which is as similarly old as the Panda. Perhaps official announcements expected on Thursday will also clarify what will happen to Lancia.
Chrysler recalls 350k vehicles over ignition switches
Thu, 25 Sep 2014Chrysler has announced a recall covering 349,442 vehicles due to ignition switches that can either become stuck or move without warning. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2008 model year, and were built before May 12, 2008.
The automaker has learned that ignition keys on some vehicles "may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position during engine-startup," the company said in a statement. Additionally, "an ignition key may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position and may inadvertently move through the 'ON' position to 'ACCESSORY' or 'OFF.'"
Chrysler says it is unaware of any related injuries, and notes that while reduced braking, engine or steering power is possible in such instances, the airbags are not affected. The later stands in contrast to General Motors' recent rash of high-profile recalls, and it's an important distinction that Chrysler (understandably) felt necessary to call out in bold print in its press release.
Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay
Sat, 23 Mar 2013A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.
