For auction is an original 1968 Jeep CJ-5. This vehicle was purchased with the farm package which included and 4 speed transmission and PTO. The 4 speed transmission is a very rare option and it's mated to a transfer case with high and low. The PTO connection on the transfer case is still there, however the actual PTO has been removed and I cant find it. The original hard doors are in decent shape and included. This will make a good father/son project... or for the Jeep enthusiast it could be made a crawler, or rebuilt to orginal spec's.
We had it running strong two years ago but the fuel pump went and its been sitting since. It still turns over and I can get it to fire but it wont stay running more than a few pops because of the fuel pump. The frame and driveline are solid, but the body needs work; the front floor pans are rotted and rear quarters are rough. The front fenders are alittle rusted but they're acceptable and can be worked with. The hood is in good shape as are the doors.
The vehicle is sold as is with a clean massachusetts title that is currently in my name. Buyer is responsible for shippping or picking up the vehicle, I can deliver for a small fee if you're within 50 miles. If you are located close enough, you can schedule a time to come look at it.
Highlights:
134 F-Head
Original 4 speed transmission and 2 speed T-Case
Hard doors included
Newer Clutch (replaced in 2008 and hasnt been used much)
PTO hookup on T-Case (PTO not included)

Chrysler delays 2014 Jeep Cherokee media launch
Tue, 30 Jul 2013Chrysler is making the unusual move of delaying the first media drives of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which were slated to start next week in Seattle. And while something like this is a rare occurrence, and one that most of the Autoblog staff can't recall happening this publicly or so close to the event itself, it won't effect the actual on-sale date of the new Cherokee, which is set to hit showrooms in September.
"Over the last couple of weeks during final quality and durability testing, we have discovered the opportunity to further improve powertrain calibration," Chrysler told Automotive News. This marks the second notable delay in the Cherokee's short life, after production was delayed for roughly a month earlier this summer.
Still, we'd rather Chrysler make sure the Cherokee is ready for primetime before flying media in from around the country. It shows a willingness to get things right the first time, rather than offering media drives and then tweaking the car after the fact.
Chrysler, Nissan looking into claim that their cars are industry's most hackable
Sun, 10 Aug 2014A pair of cyber security experts have awarded the ignominious title of most hackable vehicles on American roads to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, 2014 Infiniti Q50 and 2015 Cadillac Escalade.
Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek are set to release a report at the Black Hat hacking conference in Las Vegas, Automotive News reports. The two men found the Jeep, Caddy and Q50 were easiest to hack based not on actual tests with the vehicles, but a detailed analysis of systems like Bluetooth and wireless internet access - basically, anything that'd allow a hacker to remotely gain access to the vehicle's systems.
Considering this lack of hands-on testing, the pair acknowledge that "most hackable" could be a relative term - they point out that the vehicles may actually be quite secure.
China orders Jeep to investigate Wrangler fire risk
Mon, 06 Jan 2014It's been some time since we've heard anything about fires related to the Jeep Wrangler (foreign or domestic), but it sounds like the go-anywhere SUV could be in hot water once again in China. Bloomberg is reporting that the Chinese government is ordering Jeep to investigate the matter and, in the meantime, also recommending Wrangler owners to not drive their vehicles in "extreme conditions" due to a "relatively high risk" of catching on fire.
There is no indication as to how many vehicles or which model years are affected, but the previous fire problems in both the US and China - which led to investigations but no recalls - were traced back to automatic transmission fluid leaks. The article, however, does not say what the potential problem is this time around as Jeep has not released a comment on the matter. The official notice, in Chinese, can be found here.
