A real easy restoration would make this

1967 Jeep CJ 5

2.2L 134 F Head 4 Cyl

4WD with Spicer 18 2-Lever Transfer Case

a great addition to any family!.  This Jeep has spent it's entire life in South Carolina as far as can be determined.  It was purchased in Dillon County, then moved to Pickens, SC. Then to Lugoff and now to Lexington.

  • The engine has a great sound.
  • It starts easy
  • The LT 235/75R15 MS tires in Great condition with what appears to be almost 100% tread
  • The 4WD works properly in High and Low ranges as well as front and rear.
  • Hydraulic Brakes work well
  • Speedo seems to be accurate.
  • It has mid-sized bucket seats from another vehicle that fit well into the cockpit.
  • Added to this Jeep is an extra large capacity fuel tank behind the drivers seat.
  • An Alternator has been installed for added dependability.
  • It does come with a BRAND NEW Bikini top already installed.
  • It seems to be all original and overall in clean condition.

  • Great Vehicle for Hunt Club, Beach Comber, Rock Climbing Mountaineer or Restore.

The front floor pans have been replaced at some point.  There is an exhaust leak from a crack in the exhaust manifold  readily available on ebay for $70+/-.  The engine does smoke just a little and the starter ring seems to have one "flat" spot in it.  There is rust on the rear gate and floors.  There is surface rust on the body.  It does need paint.  The windshield is cracked.  Although this vehicle does run and drive you should arrange for transportation to get it home.

THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS IS WHERE IS WITH NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED.  IT IS THE OBLIGATION OF THE PURCHASER TO VIEW THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO BIDDING TO VERIFY CONDITION AND DESCRIPTION FOR ACCURACY.  I HAVE DESCRIBED THIS VEHICLE TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE.  THIS IS 46 YEAR OLD, STEEL, 4X4 VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN USED FOR IT'S INTENDED PURPOSE. THIS AIN'T YOUR MAMA'S CAR!

Weekly Recap: Jaguar takes a leap with price cut, new strategy

Sat, Sep 5 2015

Jaguar was one of the famous automotive props and plotlines in the now-iconic drama Mad Men. There's a scene where the show's protagonist, Don Draper, deftly undercuts an influential Jaguar dealer by indicating that get-me-in-the-door local radio spots would be an effective way to sell cars like the slinky E-Type. The British executives think this is folly – Draper knows they will – and his advertising strategy wins out over the dealer's approach to move the metal. Jaguar's not doing that, but half a century later in the real world the company is launching plans to make its cars more attainable to new and younger customers like Millenials. These aren't coupons, but this is a leap for Jaguar, which has long banked on sexy styling and its rich motorsports history to overshadow its past mechanical flaws. Put simply, Jaguar is addressing the reasons why people, especially the younger set, don't buy its cars. The 2017 XE will start at $35,895 when it launches next spring – which makes it an attractive buy for a successful, relatively young person. When it's time to move up, the redesigned XF will be more attainable, coming in at $52,895, which is $5,275 less than the 2015 model. The flagship XJ sedan and the enthusiast-oriented F-Type sports car will also get thousands of dollars worth of added standard features, and Jag is actively pitching them as a better value than their competitors. "The Jaguar brand is on the eve of a major transformation that will see it dramatically increase its presence in the United States luxury marketplace with an expanded lineup, pricing focused on the core of the luxury market, and an all-new ownership package with best-in-class coverage," Joe Eberhardt, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, said in a statement. The brand's quality and reliability dings have also lurked in the back of buyers' minds for decades, though that's an outdated notion. Jaguar placed third in J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study in June and was the top-ranked luxury brand in J.D. Power's Customer Service Index in March. Not content, the company is rolling out an enhanced program called Jaguar EliteCare that launches on 2016 models. It offers a five-year, 60,000-mile limited warranty, the longest among its competitors, with free scheduled maintenance during that period. The plan also covers roadside assistance and connectivity features.

Airbag fault on 1M recalled Jeeps getting second look from NHTSA [UPDATE]

Mon, 02 Jun 2014

UPDATE: Here is the statement we received from Chrysler regarding NHTSA's query: "Chrysler Group LLC advised the National Highway Traffic Administration of the six reports and, in accordance with the Company's long-standing practice, is cooperating fully with the resulting investigation. Customer safety is paramount at Chrysler Group. Customers who are concerned may call 1-800-853-1403."
It appears that Jeep's repairs for nearly one million Grand Cherokees from 2002-2004 and Liberty models from 2002-2003 might not be over yet. The vehicles were first recalled in November 2012 because the front airbags could suddenly deploy without being in an accident. Now, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a recall query into them because of reports of inadvertent activation on some already corrected vehicles.
The original problem affected over 919,000 vehicles worldwide, including 744,822 in the US, and was caused by a degrading circuit in the wires that control the airbags. In some cases the airbag warning light would come on just before the premature activation, but in other cases it would just happen. The automaker installed an "in-line jumper harness with an integrated electrical filter" meant to eliminate the power spikes believed to be the cause.

2016 Jeep Wrangler to ditch solid axles to save weight?

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

Hey, Jeep fans. If you think the idea of a funky-looking, car-based Cherokee revival is offensive, have a listen to what might be in store for the next-gen Jeep Wrangler. Automotive News is reporting that as Jeep develops the 2016 Wrangler, weight reduction is a crucial target, and the Wrangler's rugged solid axles could be sacrificed in the name of better fuel economy.
We've already heard the next Wrangler will go on a serious diet using aluminum body panels and an air suspension system, so the idea of a four-wheel independent suspension setup for this OG SUV isn't all that surprising. Besides, it's not like an independent suspension would limit the Wrangler's off-road abilities - just check out the Hummer H1. In fact, it might be the aftermarket parts companies - not Wrangler enthusiasts - who would be most disappointed by such a drastic suspension change, as the article states that the Wrangler's solid axles and coil-link suspension make it the most popular SUV for customization.
There are probably still a couple years before we'll start hearing any concrete details about the 2016 Wrangler, at which time it will be interesting to see how stricter fuel economy and crash safety regulations have been balanced with traditional Wrangler cues like its removable doors and roof and folding windshield. Let us know in the comments below if a Wrangler sans solid axles is any less of a Wrangler.
